The Ninth Realm was screaming.
It wasn't a sound heard with ears, but a vibration felt in the very marrow of Aiden's bones. The countdown—glowing in blood-red binary—hovered in the center of the Citadel like a guillotine waiting to fall.
[T-MINUS 59 SECONDS]
"You are a fool, Aiden!" the Architect roared, his form flickering as the Citadel's walls began to liquefy into raw energy. "I am the OS of this existence! If you delete me, you delete the air in your sister's lungs! You delete the memories of your father! You cannot carry the weight of a deleted universe!"
Aiden stood amidst the collapsing logic. His clothes were shredded, his skin bleeding from the friction of the reality-warp, but his eyes were steady. He looked at the Origin-Ring—the matte-black circle of solidified will.
"You still don't get it," Aiden said, his voice strangely calm against the roar of the apocalypse. "A Porter doesn't carry a bag because it's light. He carries it because it's his. This world, this system, these people... they aren't your data. They are my burden."
The Burden of the Void
[T-MINUS 45 SECONDS]
Aiden took a step forward. The ground vanished, leaving him floating in a sea of golden static.
[NOTIFICATION: CORE TEMPERATURE EXCEEDING LIMITS]
[CRITICAL ERROR: THE USER IS ATTEMPTING TO 'UPLOAD' THE ENTIRE SYSTEM INTO A HUMAN SOUL]
"Stop!" the Architect shrieked, realization finally dawning on him. "You're not trying to kill me... you're trying to become the cage! You'll be trapped in the dark forever, holding the entropy of a billion lives!"
"Better me than them," Aiden grunted.
He reached out and grabbed the Architect's throat. But he didn't squeeze. Instead, he channeled the Origin-Ring's power—not to destroy, but to Absorb.
Suddenly, a massive vortex of grey and gold erupted. The rivers of liquid data that ran through the Citadel began to reverse. The planetary gears that calculated destiny were being pulled toward Aiden's chest.
The Final 30 Seconds
[T-MINUS 30 SECONDS]
The pressure was unbearable. Aiden felt his soul expanding, stretching across dimensions he didn't know existed. He saw the birth of the first God. He saw the day the first bag was carried in the slums. He saw Ananya's first step.
CRACK.
His ribs were breaking under the metaphysical weight.
"Enoch!" Aiden roared in his mind. "If I fail... protect them!"
"You won't fail, kid," Enoch's ghost whispered from the depths of the ring. "Just remember the first lesson: A Porter never drops the load until he reaches the destination."
[T-MINUS 15 SECONDS]
The Architect was half-gone now, his golden form being shredded into raw information and sucked into Aiden's Origin-Ring. "You will be... nothing! A monument of silence in a world of noise!"
"Then let it be silent," Aiden whispered.
The Zero-Point Execution
[T-MINUS 05 SECONDS]
Aiden closed his eyes. Every multiplier he had ever gained—10x, 100x, 1,000,000x—flashed before him. He took all that infinite power and fed it back into the countdown.
[T-MINUS 02 SECONDS]
He didn't fight the explosion. He embraced it.
"Internal Effort: Universal Equilibrium," Aiden commanded.
[00:00:00]
The Ninth Realm didn't explode. It imploded into a single, tiny, matte-black point of light resting in the palm of Aiden's hand.
The Citadel was gone. The Architect was gone. The System was gone.
There was only Aiden, floating in a white, infinite silence. He had done it. He had carried the System to the end of the road.
Now, he just had to find his way home.
