Guiying learned this over breakfast, which he was not enjoying.
He was only sixteen weeks along, and he already looked like he had swallowed a watermelon whole, out of spite. Butler Wang called it healthy. The mirror called it something else. Yanchen had said at the last check-up that the baby was "growing very well," and Guiying had decided not to ask what that meant, because he suspected the honest word was "enormous."
The worst part was that he couldn't even work.
Fu Pei had cleared his schedule. The director had found a stand-in who, according to the group chat, was "not as pretty." Guiying had read the same page of the same script three times and still could not remember who the second male lead was in love with.
His nausea had mostly settled. His temper had not.
"Are you going to listen to the report," Fu Pei asked, "or keep glaring at the congee?"
