In the year 2025, a new mobile game called "A HAPPY END" was released. It quickly became the most popular game for over two years. But as the story approached its finale, players began abandoning it. Some reviews said, "The roleplay became terrible as the game continued." Others complained, "Why did such a beautiful and easy game suddenly become impossible? The way the characters died felt like I was trapped in a horror game."
Some comments were even harsher, eventually prompting the game's director to step in. He apologized to those disappointed by the ending but explained that the story couldn't be changed.
I had been a fan of the game, and even I had to admit—the ending was… disappointing. Many characters never even managed to harm the final boss in the last scenario. The top five players, who owned the most expensive characters and artifacts, reported the same thing: the boss was too strong. With that, the majority of players gave up entirely. Yet, a small group of fans—myself included—kept the game alive in our memories.
My name is Woo-jin, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, I found myself inside the world of "A HAPPY END." The name sounded promising… until I realized everyone dies at the ending. Not bad enough? I woke up in the body of Finn Mercer, a character who had already died in the second scenario—courtesy of the so-called power of friendship.
Back in my old world, I had mostly played minor or unpopular characters. I was skilled, despite my characters being weak, and I always found ways to succeed. Yet here I am, inside the game, with no memory of Finn's abilities and no clue what I'm supposed to do. Shouldn't I have gained his memories by now? The uncertainty gnaws at me as I try to figure out my next move.
