The next morning…
I groaned, blindly slapping at the duvet to find my ringing phone, until my fingers brushed the cold glass of my phone. I squinted at the screen. 11:45 AM.
"You have got to be kidding me."
I was supposed to be in class. I was supposed to be literally anywhere else. But as I stared up at the high, unfamiliar, glowing, crown-molded ceiling, a slow, disbelieving smile spread across my face. I was actually still here. It wasn't a dream or imagination.
The phone started drilling into my ears, again.
"Okay-okay, I'm up," I mumbled, hitting accept. "Hello?"
"Eli! Where are you?!" Lina's high-pitched voice exploded through the speaker.
I winced, pulling the phone away.
"The professor has checked your seat three times! At this point, I think he's personally offended. You are never late!"
I chuckled, leaning back into the expensive soft pillows. "Good morning to you, too."
