The days passed, people like headless chickens ran toward's the arcs as if their lives depended on them, and it did,and in the blink of an eye, three days had passed, against all odds, the rest of the arcs had been filled, but the bitter truth is, around 1 billion people will be left behind to fend for themselves against being's they couldn't possibly contend with.
The Arcs, now filled with billions of people, rose from the ground and flew toward's space, heading to a distant solar system where they would be given a second chance at survival. Those who remained fell into the deepest depths of despair; they had been abandoned, left behind in a world that was doomed to be destroyed by the wrath of God. Many took their own lives, others fell to their knees and started praying, and the rest were too busy, consumed by the thrill of freedom and anarchy.
In multiple places, creatures made of darkness descended, announcing to the world that they were not doomed just yet; people didn't even seem to care about the obvious demonic forms of those beings. They were too desperate to be protected, to be saved from the incoming calamity that would wipe out everything.
Those beings spoke simultaneously, their voices imbued with black magic, which allowed everyone to hear and understand their world, no matter the distance or language.
"There is no asteroid; the threat that this world is doomed to face is something far worse,an all-powerful agent of chaos, whose sole purpose is to consume and assimilate entire universes. You..we will be facing him..But fear not,you will not be alone..We will be here..to protect you, to empower you...to give you the future that you deserve..the future that you were robbed of."
The voices of those creatures grew louder, filled with emotion.
"YOU WILL NOT BE DEFEATED, NO MATTER THE OBSTACLE YOU WILL OVERCOME IT!YOU WILL ADAPT YOU WILL GROW POWERFUL...AND YOU WILL CONQUER THE STARS!"
And with a growl, they shouted, their voices travelling to the whole globe.
"YOU ARE HUMANITY!, TOGETHER YOU ARE UNDEFEATED!, AND YOU WILL REMAIN AS SUCH!"
The creature's raised their hands simultaneously and shouted.
"FOR HUMANITY!"
All over the globe, everyone raised their hands in the sky with tears but also resolute faces, the elderly, the children, the teenagers, the adults,a rare moment of clarity, for a race that was consumed by their inner darkness, they had a goal, they had hope, now they had the strength and most importantly, they were not...Alone.
Everyone looked at the sky, the distant stars, they would rise from the rumble and they would conquer the stars.
Everyone stopped fighting, no matter how evil, how consumed by darkness, they experienced a moment of clarity; it was as if darkness itself was forcing them to think for the betterment of mankind, the voices that usually screamed to kill to torture now screamed to save, to protect,to preserve.
From the blue portal, giant floating cargo tracks emerged, driven by creatures made of darkness. Although the human empire took all the arcs and most important technologies with them, there were naturally things that were left behind, technologies that were once considered impossible and pure science fiction, the tech that can allow for mass production of Astartes's,arc's reactor's that could empower whole civilizations for hundreds of years, vehicles of war too advanced for this era, weapon's too destructive, technologie's that could clone food that was as nutritious as natural one.
Those giant floating cargo trucks arrived before everyone around the globe, handling the technology to those most responsible and suited, they were from the military, both veterans and young blood who chose to be left behind, now armed with weapons beyond their comprehension, but before they could get overwhelmed, a figure that seemed like a hell of a butler appeared and started explaining the functions and uses of those technologie's.
A young soldier grabbed a very heavy bolt gun, inspecting it with amazement. It was as if the weapon was made for giants. Just as he was about to fire it, Sebastian appeared beside him.
"I suggest not to pull the trigger, the recoil is enough to break your arm."
The young soldier flinched when he heard that and looked at the gun with even more amazement.
Sebastian smiled and explained.
"These weapons are meant to be wielded by augmented humans, especially Astarte's,though now they are considered old technology by the human empire."
Every soldier there, including veterans, was intrigued.
An old veteran suddenly asked with deep curiosity.
"What exactly is an astarte's?Are they human?"
Sebastian grinned.
"Oh they are humans, just not normal ones."Sebastian walked to a huge chamber and asked.
'So..who wants to be the first astarte's,the soldiers' and veterans all turned to look at their leader. He was frail, barely able to stand, his advanced age making him look three steps away from death; however, his eyes were filled with determination like no other.
He walked forward toward's the giant capsule, with slow but resolute steps. Sebastian helped him get into the capsule.
"Are you ready?"asked Sebastian, the old veteran.
The veteran grinned.
'Always"
Sebastian commanded the capsule to start the process, and it did immediately. Thankfully, due to the advanced painkillers, the process was relatively painless; the human empire's technology was so advanced that even old men could become Astartes.
After an hour, the capsule opened, revealing a Tall figure with a height reaching 2.4 meters,he walked out of the capsule and marvelled at his new and powerful body that held strength that no mere mortal could hold. He had also regained his youth, due to an Astartes' very long lifespan, which was around 3000 years.
Every soldier looked at the previously old and frail man who was now an absolute unit.
Sebastian smiled.
"Why don't you go and try to lift that spaceship, which should weigh around 100 tons."
Every soldier gasped at what Sebastian said. The old man looked at Sebastian like he was crazy.
"Son, lifting 100 tons is impossible for a human"said the old man as respectfully as possible.
Sebastian said in amusement.
"You are no longer a normal human."
Sebastian gestured to the old man to try and lift the spaceship, and the old man, out of respect, complied with the impossible task.
The old man placed his hand below the spaceship and tried to lift it, though he wasn't really expecting it to even budge, but to everyone's astonishment, the old man was actually lifting the spaceship off the ground! The old man barely noticed, but when he realised that the spaceship was actually floating above the ground, his eyes nearly popped out for the shock.
"What in the name of god?!"exclaimed the old man as he gently lowered the spaceship to the ground.
One young soldier couldn't help but whistle in amazement.
