Kade stood at strict attention at the foot of the bed. He looked at Damon, his expression turning incredibly serious. The joy in his eyes was replaced by a look of caution and slight disbelief.
Kade spoke, his voice low and careful. "The lady is terrifying, my lord."
Damon leaned his head back against the tall headboard. He did not look angry at Kade's bold statement. Instead, a look of genuine curiosity crossed his face. He crossed his arms loosely over his bandaged chest.
Damon spoke, "How so?"
Kade took a small step forward, lowering his voice even more, as if he were afraid someone might be listening outside the door. He remembered the chaos of the ambush, the loud bang of the strange weapon, and the cold, deadly look in Camilla's eyes.
