Chapter 7: The Secret of Pip
After the disaster in the arena, the Academy was placed under "Mana-Lockdown." Samuel and Natasha were patrolling the corridors, their pets on high alert. Ren was summoned to the Private Sanctum of the World-Tree—a room made entirely of living light where the "Sovereign's Leaf" hung in the air.
"You did well, Ren," Samuel said, his voice weary. "But you used a power today that shouldn't exist in a 'Trash-Grade' newt."
Samuel pointed at Pip. The newt was resting on a pedestal, its body still glowing with that strange, golden circuitry.
"Professor Leo didn't just leave you a pet, Ren," Natasha said, her eyes soft. "He left you a Hardware Key. When Leo merged with the Silver Pulse, he knew that eventually, the 'Trash Data'—the greed and the corruption of the old ATC—would try to reform. He needed a physical anchor that could bypass the system if it ever became compromised."
Leo had taken a small fragment of the Original World-Tree Core and encased it in the form of a newt. Pip wasn't "evolving" into a stronger beast; he was "Unlocking" the hidden layers of the planet's operating system.
"Wait," Ren said, his gold eye flaring. "You're saying Pip is... Uncle Leo's 'Back-Up'?"
"In a way," Samuel nodded. "But a key is useless without a hand to turn it. You were chosen, Ren, not because of your bloodline, but because you were the only one who would treat a 'Trash-Grade' creature with the same love as a Dragon. That love is the 'Authentication Code'."
Suddenly, the Sanctum's walls turned a deep, bruised purple. The Silver Pulse outside let out a mournful, low-frequency hum.
"They've done it," Natasha whispered, looking out the window. "They've bypassed the Academy's firewall."
In the distance, the Great Library of Aethelgard—the repository of all human and pet history—was being encased in a massive, digital cocoon. Krell hadn't fled; he had moved to the "Source."
"He's not just deleting the present anymore," Samuel said, his obsidian armor manifesting. "He's trying to rewrite the Past. If he deletes the memory of the first Tamer, the Silver Pulse will vanish. The world will revert to the 'Quarantine' era, but this time, there won't be a World-Tree to protect us."
Pip let out a sharp, metallic chirp and leaped onto Ren's shoulder. The newt's scales shifted, forming a small, golden visor over Ren's gold eye.

"I have to go," Ren said, his voice sounding older, more resonant. "If Pip is the key, then I'm the one who has to open the door."
"You won't go alone," a voice said from the shadows. Elara stepped forward, her Cloud-Cat glowing with a fierce, astral light. "The Star-Sect keeps the records. If Krell wants to burn the books, he has to go through the librarian."
Ren, Elara, and the "Hardware Key" stepped out onto the branches of the World-Tree. The city below was a patchwork of light and grey static. The final battle wasn't just for the future—it was to save the very memory of who they were.
"Ren," Samuel called out as they prepared to leap. "Remember what your uncle said. The story doesn't end with a battle. It ends with a conversation. Don't just delete Krell... find out what he's trying to say."
Ren nodded, and with a burst of golden light, they dived into the "Digital Cocoon" of the Great Library. The Legacy of the Silver Pulse was about to face its final, corrupted mirror.
