Chapter 82 - Chapter 82

"Therefore, I didn't choose to kill them, but used a safer method to permanently seal them, preventing the disaster after their resurrection." Hen gently tapped the jade statue on the table.

Karl was surprised to hear this—a single higher vampire was enough to rival an army.

And here were three higher vampires, subdued by someone like Hen.

Such strength and means once again updated the upper limit of his understanding of this teacher.

Immediately, Karl remembered another issue that concerned him and asked: "Teacher, what about curses... how can I prevent them?"

Hen smiled, as if he found Karl's question very appropriate.

"Curses don't pose as much of a threat to you as sealing spells like the Petrification Technique, to some extent."

He explained: "The vast majority of powerful curses require carefully drawn magic circles in advance, and also need the hair, blood, etc., of the cursed person as a medium."

"Moreover, the power of a curse is directly related to how powerful the cursed person is."

"The caster must pay a corresponding amount of magic, even their entire life, as the price."

He looked at Karl, narrowed his eyes, and said affirmatively: "With your current physical level and the energy contained in your body, if someone wanted to curse you..."

"Ordinary sorcerers simply cannot bear the price and backlash of such a terrible curse. Before the curse even begins to form, the caster would already be exhausted and dead."

Immediately after, Hen changed his mind, adding an exception: "However, there is one situation where vigilance is needed."

"In the world since the Conjunction of the Spheres, many natural magical nodes or fissures have formed, where magic is extremely chaotic and unstable."

"Even malicious, accidental curses from ordinary people can activate the magic of these nodes, forming instantaneous curses that are highly random and unpredictable."

"These curses vary greatly in power, but due to their strange triggering method, they are extremely difficult to prevent."

Then Hen gave the most direct advice: "The best way to avoid this? It is to silence those who harbor ill intentions towards you before they can curse you."

Karl nodded seriously, taking every word of Hen's teaching to heart.

He couldn't help but feel inwardly how rare it was to have a sorcerer like Hen, who had lived for nearly five hundred years and was like a walking encyclopedia.

As a leading source sorcerer, Hen had seen too much and basically knew the weaknesses of monsters and the common sense of magic that Witchers knew.

And even ancient secrets and rare phenomena that Witchers didn't know, he was very likely to know.

Before leaving, Hen stopped Karl, took out three items with a soft magical aura, and handed them to him.

A finely crafted silver necklace, the pendant a perfectly cut ruby with what looked like flowing fire inside.

A silver ring with a deep sapphire, and a seemingly simple silver bracelet with delicate runes.

"This necklace activates automatically, forming an energy shield that effectively blocks most common offensive spells."

"The ring can protect your mind, resist prying eyes and the influence of mental thought and mind reading, and prevent you from being put to sleep."

"And this bracelet is used to save your life at a critical moment. When it determines that your vital signs are dying..."

"It will activate instantly and teleport you to one of my hidden sanctuaries, where supplies and medical provisions are sufficient for you to recover."

Hen looked at Karl, his tone extremely serious, even with a hint of sternness: "Remember, Karl. When carrying out missions, don't worry about whether these magical items will be damaged."

"If a magical item is damaged, I can spend more time and effort to make it again."

"But the most important thing is that you stay alive. No matter the situation, protecting yourself is the top priority."

Karl took these three heavy gifts, embodying Hen's heart and care, and felt the warmth contained within them.

He bowed deeply to Hen: "Thank you, Teacher."

......

Immediately, through the portal opened by Hen, Karl arrived in a desolate rural area.

He shook his head slightly, quickly adjusting his senses, which were a bit uncomfortable due to the spatial transition, and the hum of residual magic still echoed in his ears.

At that moment, two male sorcerers in strange attire emerged from an inconspicuous cave.

The leader wore a dark red robe, and his shoulders, chest, and placket were adorned with numerous cords or metal clasps woven with Elder Speech.

He looked middle-aged, with a calm face, and his eyes looked at Karl sharply, with a hint of undisguised doubt.

"You're the new team member sent this time? You look too young, must be under a hundred years old?" His voice had a local accent, and his timbre was very straightforward.

He briefly introduced himself: "My name is Dradi."

"This is... Ephal."

Then he pointed to the companion beside him, dressed in light blue with a similar style but more elegant.

Ephal was silent but nodded slightly in agreement with Dradi's comment about Karl's youth.

His calm eyes were also assessing Karl.

Their concerns were not unfounded; Karl was too young... at least by a sorcerer's standards.

Youth often means lack of experience, a limited number of spells, and a greater likelihood of involving teammates in danger due to recklessness.

Although they didn't have much faith in this new companion's strength, they didn't directly question the Magic Society's arrangement.

They had vaguely heard that originally, another department was in charge of this operation.

Later, it was Hen Gedymdeith from the Chapter who personally intervened to supervise, reportedly to ensure that Alexandrea wouldn't escape.

But, according to the two of them, this was most likely related to the young new companion before them, so they both maintained a corresponding friendliness.

If it were an ordinary arrangement for an inexperienced and completely unknown sorcerer, they would have already protested.

Karl didn't mind the slightly disdainful attitude of the two and showed a humble smile.

"Hello everyone, my name is Karl. It's a pleasure to work with two experienced and exceptional sorcerers."

"This is my first time undertaking such a task. If there are any shortcomings, please point them out."

Seeing his modesty and eagerness, the furrows on Dradi and Ephal's faces softened a little, and slight smiles appeared.

"Just keep up, newcomer." Dradi said nothing more and turned to walk towards the cave.

Ephal made a gesture inviting Karl.

The three entered the cold cave one after another; the light inside was dim, and the air was damp.
