Candice's POV
Candice thought hard. The first time Sairis had officially come face to face with the queen had been at that private meeting in Greta's study when the queen had summoned Candice to speak with her.
The other time, Sairis had been in disguise as her.
Candice had been present at first in the study, but she had left once the queen was finished with her and dismissed her. Sairis had been asked to stay behind.
She had never found out what had been said between Sairis and the queen in that room after she had walked out. She had assumed it was nothing important.
But looking at Greta now and hearing the particular edge in her voice when she spoke about Sairis, Candice was beginning to think that something had happened in that study that was beyond mere conversation.
"I am sorry if my aide said anything to offend you, your Majesty," Candice said. "Whatever it was, I will make sure to speak with him about it when I return to my quarters."
