Chapter 1 - Prologue-The Day the Sky Burned

The sky over the Heavenly Continent burned like a dying sun.

Clouds of crimson flame stretched across the heavens, lighting the night with a terrifying glow. Mountains collapsed beneath waves of spiritual pressure while rivers boiled into steam. Across the battlefield, thousands of cultivators stood frozen, their faces pale as they stared upward.

Because above them stood a woman.

Li Xian.

The Phoenix Sovereign.

Her black hair whipped violently in the scorching wind as phoenix fire spiraled around her body like living wings. Every breath she took sent waves of heat across the sky, bending the air itself. The ground below had already melted into cracked glass from the intensity of her flames.

Yet despite the destruction surrounding her, Li Xian stood alone.

Nine figures hovered in the distance, each radiating terrifying cultivation auras. They formed a perfect circle around her, sealing every direction of escape. Their robes fluttered in the blazing wind, their expressions cold and determined.

They were the leaders of the Nine Great Sects.

The same allies who had once sworn loyalty beneath her banner.

Li Xian slowly wiped the blood from the corner of her lips. The taste of iron lingered on her tongue, bitter and mocking.

"So this is how it ends," she said quietly.

Her voice echoed across the sky.

One of the sect leaders stepped forward. Elder Tian of the Azure Sword Sect, a man whose beard had long since turned silver, looked at her with complicated eyes.

"Phoenix Sovereign," he said, "your power has grown too dangerous. If you continue walking this path, no one will be able to stop you."

Li Xian laughed softly.

The sound carried a hint of disbelief.

"Dangerous?" she repeated. "When demons invaded the north, who burned them from the mountains?"

No one answered.

"When the ancient beasts awakened in the eastern sea, who sealed them beneath the ocean?"

Still, silence filled the sky.

Li Xian's eyes slowly darkened.

"And now the very people I protected stand here to kill me."

Another voice spoke, colder than the first.

"You should not have pursued the Phoenix Rebirth Scripture," a woman from the Jade Moon Sect said. "The moment you mastered it, your fate was sealed."

The Phoenix Rebirth Scripture.

The forbidden cultivation technique capable of rebirth through flames.

A technique said to transcend death itself.

Li Xian finally understood.

This had never been about balance.

It had always been about fear.

Fear that the Phoenix Sovereign would one day surpass the heavens themselves.

She lifted her head and gazed at the nine figures surrounding her.

"So this is your answer."

The wind howled louder as her flames surged violently.

A terrifying aura exploded outward.

The sky itself trembled.

"Then come," Li Xian said calmly.

"If the Nine Sects wish to kill me, you will need more than pretty speeches."

The moment her words fell, the heavens erupted.

Nine colossal formations ignited across the sky, each glowing with ancient symbols. Spiritual chains of light shot outward, locking onto Li Xian's body and sealing the surrounding space.

The Heaven Suppression Formation.

A killing array designed to destroy even the strongest cultivators.

Lightning roared through the clouds as heavenly tribulation gathered above them.

Yet instead of fear, a strange smile appeared on Li Xian's face.

"So this was your plan all along."

The air around her burst into violent flames.

Her phoenix fire surged upward like a rising sun, colliding with the descending lightning. The impact shattered entire mountains, sending shockwaves across the battlefield.

Below, thousands of cultivators staggered backward.

Some fell to their knees.

Some fled in terror.

The sky had become a war between fire and lightning.

But even Li Xian could feel it.

The formation was draining her power.

Her flames flickered.

Blood dripped from her fingers.

Still, she did not retreat.

Instead, her smile slowly widened.

"You made one mistake," she said softly.

The sect leaders frowned.

"What mistake?" Elder Tian asked.

Li Xian lifted her burning hand.

"You forgot what the Phoenix represents."

Her flames suddenly exploded.

Not outward

But inward.

All the fire around her collapsed into a single blinding point.

For a split second, the entire world went silent.

Then Li Xian whispered:

"Rebirth."

A terrifying explosion swallowed the sky.

Phoenix fire devoured the formation, the clouds, and the lightning itself. The Nine Sect leaders were forced to retreat as the inferno surged across the heavens like a dying star.

The battlefield disappeared beneath endless flames.

And at the center of that destruction

Li Xian closed her eyes.

If they wanted her dead…

Then the entire sky would burn with her.

The last thing she heard was the sound of the heavens cracking apart.

Then darkness swallowed everything.

Far away.

In another world.

Beneath the quiet grounds of Qinghe University.

Something ancient stirred.

Deep underground, buried beneath layers of stone and forgotten ruins, a strange egg suddenly began to glow.

Cracks of golden flame slowly spread across its surface.

As if answering a call.

As if welcoming someone home.

The Phoenix had died.

But somewhere beyond the ashes

She was about to awaken again.
