Chapter 95 - Tonight, I’m Getting MVP Too

During an emergency high-level meeting in Eagle Nation, a team of top psychologists analyzed David's footage from the National War Battlefield, especially the video showing his attack on George after his first resurrection.

In the end, they reached a conclusion regarding David's mental state.

"After careful evaluation, we unanimously believe that if Guardian David is revived again, he will no longer obey Colonel George."

The lead psychologist addressed the President.

Her wording was already quite restrained.

According to the team's assessment, considering David's explosive temper, he would probably try to take revenge on George the moment he came back to life.

Being used as a human shield repeatedly was one thing.

But this time George had stabbed straight through him without the slightest regard for his life.

As a result, David had endured the agony of being burned alive.

"We recommend replacing David and selecting a new Guardian."

The President nodded.

"Understood."

"You may leave now."

The psychology team exited the conference room.

After consulting his advisors, the President decided to deliver a televised address, persuading the nation to replace David.

If he waited any longer, the public might make the decision themselves.

In truth, his worries were unnecessary.

A nation's leaders are often a reflection of its people.

After all, those leaders had been elected by them.

The citizens also chose to replace David, whom they saw as weaker and too emotional.

Besides, David only possessed a Purple-tier talent.

George, on the other hand, was viewed as the ideal Guardian.

Cold-blooded.

Ruthless.

Willing to do anything to achieve his goals.

Always putting his own interests first.

These qualities perfectly matched Eagle Nation's style of operation.

Half an hour later, Eagle Nation's new Guardian was transported to the battlefield.

Facing his new subordinate, John, George remained as arrogant as ever.

However, John had brought a large quantity of weapons, ammunition, intelligence, and official orders from Eagle Nation.

When George learned that the one who had killed him was merely one of Qin Feng's empty remote-controlled armors, he flew into a rage.

After the anger subsided, what remained was fear.

If even one of Qin Feng's armors was that powerful...

How terrifying must Qin Feng himself be?

For the first time in his life, the fearless George truly experienced fear.

Nearby, Dr. Jenny silently recorded every detail of his bluster and insecurity.

Having George as a teammate made her even more frightened.

Not just her.

John remained wary of George at all times, even within the supposedly safe national gate area.

He had personally witnessed George sacrificing allies as human shields.

After delivering his orders, John found a Talent Roulette wheel appearing before him.

"So this is the Talent Roulette?"

John looked excited.

"Stop wasting time and spin it!"

George urged impatiently.

"The third monster wave is coming soon. We need to prepare."

There were only a few hours left before nightfall.

George noticed that the sections representing higher-tier talents occupied a much larger portion of the wheel than when they had first arrived.

Could it be that the roulette increasingly favors high-tier talents as the battlefield progresses? he wondered.

John spun the wheel with all his strength.

Eventually, the pointer landed on a red segment.

"Red! It's a Red Talent!"

John was overjoyed.

Jenny smiled as well.

"Now all three of us have Red Talents."

What she regretted most was that the pointer had stopped just short of Gold.

[Battlefield Announcement: Congratulations to Eagle Nation's new Guardian, John, for obtaining a Red Talent.]

Immediately afterward came another announcement.

[Battlefield Announcement: Congratulations to Sakura Nation's new Guardian, Yamamoto Goro, for obtaining a Gold Talent.]

The chat exploded.

"Yoshi! We finally have a Gold-Talent Guardian too!"

"Hahaha! We should thank Qin Feng from Dragon Nation!"

"Gold Talent! The strongest talent!"

A Korean netizen chimed in:

"Our Oppa Choi Seong-tae also has a Gold Talent, smida!"

Another replied:

"Yoshi! With both nations' Gold Guardians joining forces, Dragon Nation will pay the price!"

After arriving on the battlefield, Yamamoto Goro shared the latest news from Dragon Nation and Earth with Umekawa Kura and Keiko.

He had also brought a large stockpile of weapons.

"Bakayarou!"

Cold sweat poured down Umekawa Kura's face.

"I never imagined that was only Qin Feng's empty armor."

His reaction was nearly identical to George's.

Keiko looked deeply worried.

"Shouldn't we focus on protecting our national gate first?"

she pleaded to her teammates.

Among the three of them, Keiko possessed the weakest talent.

She had never left the national gate area, spending all her time reinforcing defensive structures.

Thanks to her efforts, their upgraded walls already looked nearly impregnable.

With three newly arrived Guardians obtaining exceptionally high-tier talents, many battlefield participants felt increasingly uneasy.

"WTF? Why are all the new Guardians getting such good talents?"

"Maybe the probabilities changed."

"I think so too. The monsters keep getting stronger. Maybe the battlefield increases the odds of high-tier talents to maintain balance—or encourage replacing Guardians."

The theory quickly spread among the participants.

And it made them even more nervous.

If that was true, then the high stats and combat power they were so proud of would become less valuable in the eyes of their own citizens.

If they died...

Would their countries choose not to revive them?

Especially now that excessive deaths could amplify national penalties.

Those Guardians who had previously acted recklessly suddenly became far more cautious.

After returning to Dragon Nation's gate, Qin Feng also noticed the three new announcements.

"Hmph. High-tier talents?"

He removed his Mark IV armor and placed it in the corner.

Meanwhile, the damaged Mark III was undergoing repairs underground.

Repair time: 21 hours.

Equivalent cost: forty-two drones.

Forty-two!

"How high can they be? Anything under a hundred points isn't a top talent."

He muttered to himself.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

Knock knock knock.

"Little brother, you're back? Everything okay?"

Knock knock knock.

"Little brother?"

Qin Feng hurried over and opened the door.

"Sister Bao'er, finished burying the bodies?"

Bao'er had accompanied Ninth Uncle to two newly discovered corpse-raising sites.

After finishing her work, she returned immediately, leaving Ninth Uncle to continue handling things.

"Eh?"

Bao'er looked Qin Feng up and down.

"I don't think I've ever seen you without your armor on before."

Standing in the doorway, Qin Feng laughed awkwardly.

"Well, another monster wave is coming. Just relaxing a little. Need to stay refreshed for tonight."

"Oh. Then there's nothing to worry about."

Bao'er pointed her thumb at herself confidently.

"Didn't I already tell you? Tonight I'm holding the first defense line. I've got it covered."

Qin Feng: ...

Before he could object, Bao'er grabbed him and inspected him from every angle.

"They didn't do anything to you, right?"

As she spoke, she casually walked into the workshop.

Qin Feng immediately had a bad feeling.

"No, no. I'm fine. What could they possibly do to me? They're all trash."

"Hoh!"

Bao'er grinned.

"You've learned qi now. Even your bragging has gotten stronger."

("Kun" in her dialect roughly means boasting or talking big.)

She then began wandering around the workshop.

"Yeee? What's all this stuff?"

The various instruments and equipment immediately caught her attention.

The robotic arms.

The holographic 3D battlefield map.

Everything fascinated her.

"High-tech stuff, huh? Pretty nice."

Qin Feng's heart sank.

Here it comes.

"This... isn't this..."

"All of this was rewarded by the National War Battlefield, right?"

Bao'er's eyes sparkled.

"Just like JARVIS?"

Then she suddenly understood.

"Hey! So winning MVP comes with benefits like these!"

Her smile grew wider and wider.

"Then tonight, I'm getting MVP too!"
