Deebt looked at Sky with a cold stare.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Don't you want this?" Sky said in an irritating tone.
"I don't care about you at all, I'm really wondering about your desire. When I saw you on the stage, I felt like you wanted to challenge me, but when I pointed my sword at the vice principal, that desire vanished. That's why I'm wondering what your current intentions are." Deebt pointed at her with his fork and explained his thoughts.
Deebt didn't care what Sky would think, or if she had plans against him, because the moment she stood against him, he would consider her an enemy.
'This guy, he's warning me. Hehehe, this is fun.' Sky thought as she looked into Deebt's eyes, deep as an abyss.
No emotion was reflected on his face, his body didn't move in any way to betray his feelings or thoughts.
Deebt remained strangely still.
"I wanted to challenge you at first, but I don't want to put myself in danger just for my own amusement. I want to join you because here at the Sunrise academy, it's essential to be part of a group and build a relationship with your teammates. The academy will announce this once we get used to the place. This happens every year, because in the continental exams, there will be mandatory group tests, and the academy encourages team formation, but it leaves it up to the students to build trust and understanding among themselves." Sky explained her reasoning.
"There are a lot of people here, and surely many people have approached you. Why us?" Deebt asked directly.
Sam, Milly, and Heri didn't speak, they all listened quietly.
"Well, isn't it obvious? You are here. Aren't you the strongest one in this place? Besides, I don't consider myself stupid enough to join a group I know nothing about instead of getting close to you guys. At the very least, you're ranked first and I'm third, this will benefit us both." Sky explained, her tone laced with tension.
"Alright." then Deebt continued his meal calmly.
Sky was stunned by his reaction.
"Huh, that simple?"
"Yes, that simple. Just because you're third doesn't mean you're better than Sam, Milly, and Heri. Everyone here is capable of killing you if you have hidden intentions that might harm us… You can join."
Sky didn't speak and sat quietly.
Sam looked at Deebt in surprise, as did Heri, and even Milly gave a slight smile.
'Deebt didn't fully understand the group system, but somehow he acted as if he did and used that to pull her to our side.' Sam thought about Deebt's performance.
"Well, since he said that." Sam smiled as he gestured toward Sky.
"But isn't the established total for each group seven? We are only five." Heri spoke in a low, cold voice.
"That's no problem, the people who'll join us will come quietly, and we can choose." Milly said.
"I think so, the third place winner is here now." Sam smiled.
"Maybe, but not everyone deserves to join the group. Caution is necessary, and I don't trust this orange." Deebt pointed at Sky.
"Pfff hahaha." Sam laughed loudly.
"Pffft." A faint smile appeared on Milly's face.
Even Heri put her hand over her mouth.
"You bastard, how dare you call me an orange with that paralyzed face." Sky furrowed her brows in anger.
Sam laughed even louder, and Milly couldn't hold back, laughing even more.
"Hah." Deebt sighed, paying no attention to her anger, then got up from his seat.
He didn't say where he was going or why, they were used to his behavior, though Sky wasn't.
"Where is he going after mocking me?" Sky asked.
"I don't know, maybe to meditate or to use the restroom." Sam replied.
"Huh, is that normal for you guys?"
"Yeah, if he had actually told us where he was going, I would've worried he'd been possessed. Anyway, welcome to our newly formed group." Sam leaned back in his chair lazily.
"Just now? Well, but I didn't ask your names. I'll reintroduce myself, I'm Sky Oviedo. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"I'm Sam Lucas."
"Heri Mesia."
"Milly Hamilton."
They began getting to know each other and chatting.
Neither Sam nor Milly felt pressured by Sky's new presence, because as long as Deebt had agreed, he was sure of his choice.
It was Sam himself who had asked Heri to join them. She felt a sense of relief, knowing that being with a group she was familiar with would be far more beneficial for her.
Sam had also hinted to her while Deebt was talking to Sky that she should trust what was going to happen.
Heri looked at Sam with relief and hid a small, beautiful smile with her hand.
…
Deebt headed to the bathroom, when he came out, he found a group of three students standing in front of him.
Looks of arrogance, pride, and envy.
"Get out of my way." Deebt asked indifferently.
"What if we don't?" spoke the biggest boy among them, like a giant bear.
"Right, do you think you're better than us just because you're in first place? There are three of us and you're alone." weak physique, but a sharp tongue.
Deebt looked at them and didn't hold back.
"Hahahaha, fools and clowns, who told you to come to me!? Have you forgotten that everyone is equal here? Whether you're a minister's son or a whore's son, it doesn't matter." the look in Deebt's eyes changed, he saw the students as enemies.
He decided to attack, but before he could move, a voice spoke from behind the three students.
"I was the one who asked them. Step aside."
The three students stepped back, revealing a boy with broad shoulders and neatly slicked back blond hair, about the same height as Deebt.
The boy looked at Deebt with admiring eyes.
"I just wanted to test you, but I didn't expect you to see through their actions." the boy spoke in a calm tone, as if he owned the place.
"My name is Major Akomal, son of the Akomal family."
Deebt looked at him with utter indifference, he didn't answer directly, but shifted his gaze to the students behind the boy.
A slight look of fear crossed their faces.
'I don't really care what's going on, but this is extremely annoying. Jazz warned me earlier about this kind of person because they're a nuisance, but he said dealing with them is simple, just beat them up.' Deebt thought.
"Well, maybe your family is famous, but I don't know them and I don't care. Just get out of the way, this is the last time I'm asking you." with an indifferent tone but an unmistakable threat, Deebt gestured for Major to move aside.
"Fine, have it your way. We'll meet later, and maybe we can have a proper talk." Major walked away without saying another word.
He just glanced at Deebt with a faint smile.
'This guy doesn't back down at all, I need to recruit him into my group.' Major thought as he calmly walked out of the bathroom.
…
Deebt returned to the table and sat down without saying a word.
The conversation between Sam, Milly, Heri, and Sky continued enthusiastically.
Deebt studied them thoughtfully.
"Heri, I'm sorry, but your needle is still with that proctor after you stabbed him with it. If I see him, I'll ask for it back."
"Okay, no problem." Heri replied with her usual calmness.
'This girl has an aura like a lifeless forest, she's like a killer. And Sky seems trustworthy, but I'm sure there's a secret behind her.'
Deebt thought to himself, a faint smile appearing as he continued to contemplate them.
