An empty, desolate world, life had vanished.
The farmlands were gone, the animals were gone.
The mountains and rivers, the islands, the valleys, the deserts…
There wasn't much left…
A man with black eyes and black hair looked out, dressed in a black robe and black pants.
The man was tall, he stood atop a small peak to survey his empty world.
There was nothing before him.
In the entire surrounding area, only this small peak remained, everything else had vanished.
The vast lands, the trees, nothing remained.
Even the red sky was nowhere to be seen except for the small patch where the peak he stood upon was located.
His world was fading away bit by bit.
He didn't understand why.
And he didn't ask.
He thought.
But to no avail.
What could he possibly change about something he didn't understand?
Even if he tried, there would be no result.
He gazed calmly at the vast emptiness, after a few minutes, he shifted his gaze to the blue grass on the ground.
The emptiness held no meaning, and no matter how intently he stared at it, he couldn't form a single thought.
If he hadn't been strong, he would have forgotten that he had looked into the void.
If he hadn't been strong, the void would have consumed him as well.
But Demon was an extremely strong person.
He sat for a moment and closed his eyes.
After concentrating for more than ten minutes, specific scenes appeared in his mind.
Towering buildings, crowds of people, valleys, rivers, mountains, forests, things resembling the distant horizon in many parts of the world…
'The human world, the world that merged with ours, or perhaps their world devoured ours. Why?' Demon thought for a moment but found no answer.
All he knew was that his world was disappearing, and the human world was taking what was disappearing from his world.
But in the human world, the features of his world did not appear directly, rather, they existed within what humans called 'Horizon Gates'.
Humans treated the Horizon Gates as both a mine and an enemy, as they contained many resources and many dangers.
The creatures of the Horizon Gates were dangerous.
The effect of the Horizon Gates on the creatures of the human world was dangerous as well.
For the past two hundred years, Demon had watched his world disappear without being able to do anything about it.
Yet he had a strange thought or feeling inside him.
'Everything happens for a reason.'
He thought this way, he was certain that what was happening wasn't harmful.
If only humans didn't see them as enemies, things would have worked out much faster.
Many of his world's inhabitants died as the regions shifted into the human world, leaving a void in their wake.
Death wasn't caused merely by the shift itself, but by the fighting with humans and the rampaging beasts within the portals.
Demon had lived a long time and didn't care much about it.
If he found a way to solve the problem, he would try it, if he didn't, so what?
Let things happen the way they do.
A result would emerge in the end, and Demon would live with it.
Demon stood up again, then suddenly vanished from his spot.
He appeared in another area that had also been swallowed by the void, leaving behind nothing but a barren, lifeless patch of land.
Dry soil, surrounded by the void.
Neither Demon nor anyone else remaining in his world could touch the void, well, perhaps with the exception of one person.
His brother, Devil.
He was completely different from him, full of ambition, passion, and desire, he had determination and willpower…
Unlike the indifferent and cold Demon.
Unfortunately, Demon hadn't seen his brother Devil for over five hundred years.
Demon came to this area from time to time to meditate and gaze at the Void.
'I wonder, if I tried, could I touch the Void?'
He thought as he looked at the nothingness stretching out in every direction.
'What is the void, and where does it come from? What is there? Why is our world the one exposed to it?'
Demon asked the questions, but found no answers.
He had no desire to search or understand.
'Is it really someone's power?'
So he gazed for a while and thought for a few moments, then moved on to another place.
Demon stared at the small tree in front of him, its bark was black and rough, and there were no leaves on its branches.
'Of the great forest, only one tree remains.'
Demon looked at the tree and thought: his world was lost.
On one occasion, with a sense of lethargy, he attempted to breach the human world by force, but he failed.
His world had stopped him, he felt there was a barrier preventing him from leaving his world.
But as time passed, Demon felt the barrier weakening.
There wasn't much left before he could enter the human world.
Demon thought about the reason, but there was only one.
Power.
He was extremely powerful, so entering the human world would destroy him.
Still, Demon had an idea.
If the barrier weakened completely and vanished, he would enter the human world without any trouble.
Would Demon destroy humanity?
He didn't care.
Although his kind had perished in the face of humanity's rapid evolution, his kind had their own strength as well; they were not weak.
Defeat at the hands of power was natural in Demon's eyes.
Demon moved to another location.
All that lay before him was a giant rock.
Standing on the rock was a man with white hair and dark red eyes like a pool of blood, the man wore white pants and had no shirt to cover his perfect physique.
"Angel, are you here?" Demon spoke to the man standing on
the rock as he approached him.
"Demon, how are you?" Angel asked in a relaxed tone.
"Fine." Demon replied briefly.
"You know, Demon, the barrier has weakened even further. I looked into the human world, a giant portal has appeared in Africa. Since the portal has no effect, humans think it's a bad omen."
Demon merely nodded.
"They've given that gate a name: 'The End of the World'." Angel smiled sarcastically.
"They just have vivid imaginations. That gate has taken up a quarter of our world." Demon replied.
"Well, that's good for us too. After all, only a handful remain in this world, and the strong won't be able to move around unless the barrier finally collapses." Angel smiled and looked at the void engulfing the world around them.
"Well, it's no big deal. For us, the barrier's collapse is only a matter of time, we live a long time. Meanwhile, humans have only nine years left before we enter their world."
