"Give it back."
I found Serena lounging in one of the plush armchairs in the noble students' common area, surrounded by her usual gaggle of sycophants who laughed at everything she said like it was the most brilliant commentary they'd ever heard. She looked up when I walked in, and the smile that spread across her face was absolutely venomous.
"Well, well," she drawled, setting down her teacup with deliberate slowness. "If it isn't the commoner princess herself. Come to thank me for the lesson I gave your little friend?"
My hands were shaking, and I clenched them into fists to hide it. "Give. It. Back."
"I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific, darling," Serena said, examining her perfectly manicured nails showing that this conversation was boring her. "I acquire so many things throughout the day, it's hard to keep track."
"Pearl's necklace," I said through gritted teeth. "The one you stole after you beat her bloody like a coward."
