Chapter 1 - The Last Descendent's POV

"Ghh haahh hah!" I desperately gasped for air, feeling my lungs fill with air as if they hadn't had any in ages.

"Haah hah haaaa," I grabbed my chest, feeling my heartbeat slow down as breathing became easier.

"Haaa." Finally calming down, I opened my eyes and analyzed my surroundings. What greeted me was a forest of massive trees that stretched incredibly high, blocking all light from entering.

'Where am I?' I thought as I tried to stand up, but "Gkk kk!!" I felt a stinging sensation throughout my body, and I fell on my back.

"Hah Ha haa w-what the hell!"

------

After what felt like hours, the pain lessened, and I decided to try again.

"Huuu." Taking a deep breath i prepared myself to move.

"Haa okay, I've got this," I pushed myself up onto my feet and was finally standing.

"Nice!" I exclaimed as if standing was an anchievment well, it felt like one at the time.

I looked around, but this time I could properly see my surroundings. The trees were dark red, and the leaves were red as well. I walked up to a tree, reached out to touch it, just as I touched it i heard a humming noise.

I looked around to check for the source of the noise, but I saw nothing. I realized the sound was coming from the trees.

Looking back at the tree i had touched a red liquid that began to ooze out from where I had touched it.

'Blood?'

The humming began to get louder, and fear began to rise in my chest.

'I need to get out of here.' I thought as I began to walk in a seemingly random direction.

------

Not too long after I had walked, the humming noise dissapeared and the trees were no longer red, although they were still massive.

"Seriously, where the hell am I?"

As I walked, I suddenly felt my skin crawl. I immediately looked around me, but there was nothing.

'What the hell .' My desperation to leave the forest increased tenfold. It wasn't long before I was sprinting as fast as I could.

"Hah hah hah." I was breathing loudly, but i didnt care. I needed to move someone, or something was chasing me.

'Move, damn it, move!!' I inwardly cursed as I felt as though whatever was chasing me was getting closer and closer.

As I ran, I started seeing trees that were dark blue, once again changing the color, though I had no time to pay it any attention as...

-CRUNCH

My mind blanked at the sound, the sound of a single dry leaf being crushed from behind me. Now I was running with everything I had; my legs screamed in pain, but I ignored them and continued to run.

I heard it again

-CRUNCH

It was slow, deliberate, as if

'Its toying with me.'

I grew more and more desperate as I ran searching for something, some way to escape.

Until I saw it ...light, I immediately dashed in its direction. Whatever was behind me seemed to notice it too, as it stopped hiding its footsteps.

-CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH!

The sounds of leaves crushing grew louder, more frequent, and more frantic. It seemed as though it had finally decided to stop playing with its food.

I had stopped breathing and focused solely on running. I was a few meters away from the light.

'I'm almost there,' I thought, but then my instincts screamed at me, 'LEFT!!' I immediately leaped to my right to dodge, but ...I was too slow.

It had taken my left arm... but now I could see it.

It was a grotesque monster that seemed to resemble a bear. It stood around double my height, and its body was thicker than the trees, but what was most terrifying was its face; its mouth was wide, and its teeth were covered in blood, or more accurately, my blood.

It stared at me with its eyes that had no pupils, chewing my arm right in my face as if to mock me, but it didn't matter since I was already out of the forest in the light.

I stared back at the creature, "You can't come here, can you?" I mocked it despite the fact that I was losing copious amounts of blood.

It simply stared, and then it turned around and faded back into the forest's darkness until I could no longer see it.

I wanted to laugh or celebrate the moment, but i couldnt, my body was in shambles, so I tried to move, but "Ugghh." I couldnt it seemed as though the adrenaline had finally worn off.

'Shit, no!' I fainted.
