Chapter 21 - My Name is Blue

Blue crouches in the flickering streetlight, her dark coat pooling around her. One of the girls—eyes red from crying—struggles to meet her gaze. "Who are you? And why did you help us?" she asks in a trembling voice.

Blue rises to her full height and holds out a hand. "My name is Blue," she says softly. "Now, take this." She hands each girl a thick stack of bills she took from the pigs she just killed earlier.

"I'm not responsible for what happens to you from here on. Get yourselves into therapy or anything else that helps you heal—and get back on your feet." Her tone is gentle but firm, a promise of protection fading.

"But," she said, her voice commanding and dark, "if I catch you doing something illegal, you'll meet your masters I killed in there," she finished. The girls swallowed hard, some nervous

"Thank you," the girls whisper, gratitude shaking through their voices.

They stand at the side of the road under the moonlit night. One after another, they climb into waiting taxis. Blue watches until the last cab's headlights vanish into the darkness. When the road is finally empty, she slips away into the night, her duty to them done.

Inside a nearby high-rise, Xavier fumes in his dimly lit office. The moment Blue enters, he straightens behind his desk. "Well, isn't that very kind of you?" he drawls, masking his fury with a fake smile.

Blue strolls in coolly, closing the distance between them. "Yeah," she replies lightly, "let's say I have a soft spot for helpless people." She catches the eyebrow he raises.

"So, how does it feel? Ruined?" she asks, voice low, indicating the ruined deal upstairs.

Today he was supposed to make a fortune—a billion—but that dream lies in ashes. Blue has killed fifty of his clients and freed those girls. The loss is staggering, and Xavier's jaw tightens.

Xavier's face hardens.

"What? You just took a thirty-percent hit; is that it? No biggie, right?" Blue mocks, pinching the bridge of her nose as if complaining of a headache.

Fury flashing in his eyes, Xavier snarls, "Why aren't you killing me?"

Blue smirks. "Well, I'm saving you for dessert." She turns and glances back at him before striding toward an open doorway.

In the adjacent room, Lisa huddles against a vanity table, knees drawn up, sniffling quietly. Dried blood coats her legs. She looks up as Blue enters.

Blue tilts her head. "Now you know what those girls feel like when you sic your dogs on them," she says softly.

Lisa seethes with rage. On impulse, she hurls a pillow at Blue. Blue catches it easily, then tosses it straight into her face with a laugh as Lisa stumbles a little back into the chair.

"That's how you aim," Blue trolls towards furious Lisa

"You'll burn in hell, you bitch!" Lisa shrieks, tears of fury and humiliation streaming down her face.

Blue merely shrugs, expression unwavering. "Been there," she murmurs. "They didn't want to keep me, so they sent me back."

She steps closer and removes the pillow from Lisa's lap. Standing over the trembling girl, Blue whispers, "Now, clean yourself up, like a good little girl. You've got a long road ahead of you."

Lisa's shoulders shake; she forces a weak smile and wipes her tears. Xavier watches from the doorway, realization dawning on him. He knows exactly how ruthless and dangerous Blue truly is.

Minutes later, the three of them pile into Xavier's sleek silver Bentley—Blue in back with Lisa, Xavier behind the wheel. The car surges forward into the city night.

Blue breaks the tense silence. "Is there anyone innocent left in that building?" she asks, eyes glinting in the rearview mirror.

Xavier's jaw tightens. "No... you killed them all—the guards, the clients—everyone." His voice trails off.

Suddenly, a deafening explosion rips through the darkness. The building they had just escaped erupts in flames behind them, a fireball swelling into the sky. Concrete and steel collapse as the structure implodes into itself.

Lisa screams and ducks as Xavier floors the accelerator. The car lurches away from the inferno.

Blue laughs, a harsh sound, as she watches the fiery blaze shrink in the distance. Chaos and ruin are her gift to the night.

Meanwhile, in a quiet suburban home after dinner, Alexander steps into his study. He closes the door quietly behind him, expecting silence—until he sees Catherine standing there, a bouquet of red roses in her hands.

"What are you doing here?" he asks, surprised.

Catherine places the flowers gently on his desk. "You seemed distracted at dinner, Alexander," she says, walking closer. "I figured I'd raise your mood a little." A soft smile flickers on her lips.

He recalls how terrified Vicky was not long ago—her shallow breaths and pounding heart.

"And how are you going to do that?" he asks warily.

Catherine doesn't answer. Instead, she moves swiftly across the study and tilts up to kiss him. Alexander easily resists; within a minute, his arms are around her. She cups his face, pressing her nose playfully against his.

When they part, Catherine's eyes shine. "I've waited my whole life for this day," she murmurs. "I love you, Alex."

Her fingers brush the buckle of his belt. In the next instant, she drops to one knee in front of him.

Alexander starts back, eyes wide. "What are you trying—?" he manages.

Catherine looks up at him, unabashed. "Um... blow you," she says boldly, lips quirking with mischief.

Alexander bursts into laughter. "A blow? I'm sorry, now isn't the right time." He quickly refastens his belt and pants, as if protecting a treasure.

Disappointment flickers across Catherine's face. Alexander steps closer and gently takes her hand.

"Hey," he says softly, "I have some clients I need to handle, but I promise our wedding night will be worth the wait, okay?" He brushes her cheek with his thumb and presses a tender kiss to her forehead.

Her eyes soften. Alexander's phone buzzes on the desk. Glancing at it, he sees Ruben's name flashing on the screen.

Catherine gives him a gentle smile. "Okay... goodnight, love," she whispers.

She turns and quietly closes the door, leaning against it once the latch clicks shut. A warm smile stays on her face. It had been their first kiss.

Catherine brings a hand to her lips, still tingling from his touch, savoring the memory.

As Xavier's car roars through the darkened city streets, the skyline blurs past. Blue stands on the roof of the car, arms outstretched, wind whipping through her hair. She closes her eyes and laughs, reveling in the rush of speed and danger. She has never felt so alive.

Inside the car, Lisa huddles on the backseat floor, trembling. Her clothes are torn and smeared with blood, and her jaw trembles as she speaks through tears. "Why didn't you do anything when she sicced those dogs on me?!" she wails.

Xavier keeps his eyes on the road, voice flat. "It's not that simple, Lisa," he replies.

"Not simple?" Lisa snaps, scrambling up. "I thought you were the most dangerous man alive! What, are you smitten with her now?" Her words burst out in breathless rage.

Xavier flinches as if struck. "Blue is the—" he starts, then chokes on the words.

"She's what?!" Lisa presses, eyes wild.

Xavier clenches the wheel. "She's evidence against me. Against us," he says, voice steadier. "I can't do anything until I get rid of that evidence. Don't worry—I will find the evidence, and then we'll get rid of her; don't mention it," he lies, forcing calm.

Lisa manages a small, uncertain smile as she sits back down.

Above them, Blue hears every word from the roof. She calls down, feigning irritation, "Mention what?"

Lisa flinches and backs into the corner of the car. Blue jumps down and settles next to her in the backseat, laughing softly at the chaos she's created. Xavier grits his teeth and does not respond.

They drive on in silence until Xavier pulls into the valet of the Elder Casino. He turns off the engine.

"All right," Xavier says quietly, and they all step out of the car.

Blue steps first onto the curb, Lisa trailing behind her, Xavier last. Under the neon glow of the casino entrance, the trio disappears inside, ready to face whatever awaits within.
