Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Night of Seven Candles

Part 1

The Singhania mansion looked almost magical that night. Rows of golden lights decorated the balconies and tall pillars of the grand estate, while soft music floated through the warm evening air. Luxury cars continued to arrive at the large iron gates, bringing influential guests who had come to celebrate a very special occasion. Servants moved quickly through the halls carrying trays of desserts and drinks, while laughter and conversation echoed beneath the enormous crystal chandeliers.

Tonight was not an ordinary celebration.

It was Arohi Singhania's seventh birthday.

In the center of the grand hall stood a large white cake decorated with delicate sugar roses. Seven candles burned quietly on top of it, their small flames flickering gently in the warm glow of the chandelier lights.

A little girl stood not far from the table, watching the candles with calm curiosity.

Her name was Arohi Singhania.

She wore a soft silver dress that shimmered whenever she moved, and her long dark hair flowed neatly over her shoulders. There was something unusual about her quiet gaze, something thoughtful that seemed almost too mature for a child of seven. While the guests chatted happily around her, Arohi seemed lost in her own thoughts.

Sometimes she felt something strange.

A feeling she could not explain.

It was as if somewhere deep inside her mind, memories existed that she could not reach. Like fragments of dreams that vanished the moment she tried to remember them.

For a brief moment, a faint whisper seemed to echo inside her thoughts.

Protect it.

The voice was soft and distant, like an echo carried by the wind.

Before she could think about it further, a loud and energetic voice interrupted her thoughts.

"Knew I'd find you hiding here!"

A boy rushed toward her across the hall, nearly slipping on the polished marble floor.

This was Kabir Sharma, her closest childhood friend.

Kabir's hair was slightly messy, and his bright eyes were always filled with endless energy and curiosity. He stopped in front of Arohi with a dramatic sigh, as if he had just finished an important mission.

"Everyone is looking for you," he complained loudly.

Arohi blinked in confusion.

"Why?"

Kabir stared at her in disbelief.

"Because it's your birthday!"

Before Arohi could answer, another calm voice joined the conversation.

"Arohi, your parents are calling you."

A graceful young girl walked toward them with quiet steps.

This was Rani Birla.

Even at such a young age, Rani carried herself with remarkable elegance. Her pale pink dress was perfectly neat, and her calm expression made her appear older than she really was.

Standing beside her was a quiet boy with sharp observant eyes.

Samim Birla.

Unlike Kabir, Samim rarely spoke unless necessary. However, whenever he did say something, it was usually thoughtful and precise.

The four children had grown up together since they were babies. Their families had been close for many years, and the children naturally became inseparable friends.

Kabir leaned closer to Arohi with an impatient grin.

"The cake ceremony is about to start."

Arohi followed their gaze toward the grand staircase at the far end of the hall.

At the top stood her parents.

Her father, Arjun Singhania, looked calm and dignified as he greeted the guests with polite confidence. Beside him stood Mira Singhania, whose warm smile made the entire hall feel welcoming.

Nearby stood Kabir's parents and the Birla couple as well.

The three families spoke together comfortably, laughing like people who had shared many years of friendship and trust.

To the outside world, they were simply powerful business families.

But there were secrets behind their long friendship.

Secrets the children did not yet understand.

Soon the lights in the hall dimmed slightly.

Guests gathered around the large table as the birthday cake was brought forward.

The seven candles flickered softly in the gentle darkness.

Everyone began clapping.

"Make a wish!"

Arohi closed her eyes slowly.

For a brief second, something strange flashed inside her mind.

A bright room filled with glowing machines.

A strange crystal object resting inside a metal frame.

And a desperate voice calling out urgently—

"Protect—"

The image disappeared instantly.

Arohi opened her eyes again.

Kabir nudged her shoulder impatiently.

"So? What did you wish for?"

Arohi thought for a moment.

Then she smiled faintly.

"I forgot."

Kabir groaned dramatically while Rani laughed softly.

But far above the celebration, on the dark balcony overlooking the hall, someone stood silently watching everything.

Their expression was cold.

Calculating.

And patient.

They whispered quietly to themselves.

"Soon."

Part 2

The celebration continued long into the evening.

Music flowed gently through the halls of the Singhania mansion while guests continued chatting and laughing together. The atmosphere was warm and cheerful, filled with the joyful energy of a successful celebration.

Eventually, however, many of the guests began to leave.

The large hall slowly became quieter as the night grew deeper.

The children had already escaped the remaining crowd and gathered near the wide marble staircase close to the entrance.

Kabir stretched out across the steps dramatically as if exhausted from a long day of hard work.

"I'm bored," he declared loudly.

Rani crossed her arms.

"You've eaten more cake than anyone else here."

Kabir shrugged proudly.

"That's not the point."

Samim sat quietly beside them, holding a small tablet device while examining something carefully.

Arohi leaned closer with curiosity.

"What are you looking at?"

Samim turned the screen toward them.

A detailed map appeared.

It showed a large forest area with a lake surrounded by hills.

Kabir immediately jumped up in excitement.

"Oh! The picnic place!"

The next morning the three families planned to travel together to a beautiful lake outside the city for a relaxing picnic trip.

It had become a small tradition for them.

Kabir pointed at the map enthusiastically as if presenting a military strategy.

"First we reach the lake."

"Then we explore the forest."

Rani raised an eyebrow.

"You sound like we're preparing for war."

Kabir grinned proudly.

"You never know."

Samim zoomed in on a specific road leading to the lake.

"The road here is very quiet."

Kabir looked confused.

"Why are you studying the road?"

Samim simply shrugged.

"Just observing."

Arohi watched her friends quietly with a small smile.

Sometimes their conversations felt strangely serious for children their age.

But she liked that about them.

Suddenly footsteps approached from behind.

A gentle hand rested on Arohi's head.

She looked up and saw her father standing there.

"Planning tomorrow's adventure?" Arjun Singhania asked warmly.

Kabir immediately straightened up.

"Yes, Uncle!"

Arjun chuckled softly.

"You seem more excited than Arohi."

Behind him stood Kabir's father and the Birla couple.

The adults exchanged quiet glances with each other.

For a brief moment, their expressions became serious.

One of them spoke softly.

"Everything is prepared."

Arjun nodded slowly.

"Good."

Arohi tilted her head in confusion.

"Prepared for what?"

The adults immediately smiled again.

"For tomorrow's picnic," Mira Singhania replied gently.

But far away from the mansion, on a quiet stretch of road surrounded by dark trees, a black SUV waited silently.

Inside the vehicle, several men studied a digital map displayed on a tablet screen.

The road to the lake glowed faintly on the display.

One man tapped the screen.

Several red markers appeared along the route.

Ambush points.

Another man spoke hesitantly.

"Are you certain they'll all travel together?"

The leader smiled coldly.

"Yes."

He looked at the glowing map again.

"Tomorrow the Singhania, Sharma, and Birla families disappear."

Outside the vehicle, the night remained silent.

The trap had already been set.

Part 3

Morning came quietly over the city, painting the sky with soft shades of gold and pale blue. The Singhania mansion, which had been full of laughter the night before, was now filled with the calm excitement of preparation. Servants moved around quickly while luggage and picnic baskets were carried to the waiting cars outside the grand gate. The air smelled fresh after the cool night, and the sun slowly rose above the tall trees surrounding the estate.

Arohi stood near the front steps, watching everything with curious eyes. Her silver birthday dress had been replaced by a comfortable white sweater and jeans, perfect for a day outdoors. Kabir was already running around the driveway, pretending to direct the servants like a commander leading a military mission.

Rani stood nearby with a small backpack neatly placed over her shoulder, while Samim quietly examined something on his tablet again, probably checking maps or routes like he always did.

The adults seemed relaxed, but there was something slightly different in their expressions today. They spoke in low voices among themselves while occasionally glancing toward the road beyond the mansion gates.

Arjun Singhania stood beside Kabir's father and the Birla couple, discussing the route to the lake. To the children, it looked like a normal conversation between friends planning a picnic, but there was a seriousness behind their eyes that was easy to miss unless someone looked carefully.

Soon the cars were ready.

Three black luxury vehicles lined up outside the gate. The plan was simple: the Singhania family would lead, followed by the Sharma and Birla cars behind them. It had always been this way during their trips together.

Kabir quickly jumped into the back seat beside Arohi as if claiming his territory before anyone else could.

"I'm sitting here," he announced proudly.

Rani rolled her eyes but sat beside Arohi anyway, while Samim quietly took the front passenger seat.

The car doors closed.

The engines started.

The large gates of the Singhania mansion slowly opened.

And the small convoy of cars drove out onto the road.

At first everything felt perfectly normal. The city was just beginning to wake up, and the early morning traffic was light. Sunlight reflected softly on the glass windows of tall buildings as the cars moved toward the highway. Inside the vehicle, Kabir continued talking excitedly about everything they would do once they reached the lake.

He planned to explore the forest, build a small tree house, and maybe even try fishing despite the fact that none of them actually knew how to fish.

Rani occasionally corrected his exaggerated plans while Samim quietly observed the passing roads outside.

Arohi leaned her head against the window and watched the scenery change.

The city slowly disappeared behind them.

Tall buildings turned into open roads.

The roads turned into long stretches of trees and empty land.

The further they drove, the quieter everything became.

After some time, even Kabir's endless talking slowed down.

Samim suddenly frowned slightly as he looked through the rearview mirror.

"Something is strange," he murmured quietly.

Kabir leaned forward immediately.

"What?"

Samim pointed behind them.

"There's a car that has been following us for a long time."

Kabir twisted around in his seat to look through the back window.

A black SUV drove at a steady distance behind their convoy.

At first glance it looked completely ordinary.

But something about it felt wrong.

In the front seat, Arjun Singhania had already noticed it as well. His eyes briefly met Kabir's father through the rearview mirror of the second car. The adults didn't speak, but a silent understanding passed between them.

The road ahead slowly curved through a stretch of dense forest.

Suddenly a large truck appeared in front of them.

It was parked across part of the road as if it had broken down.

Arjun's expression changed instantly.

"Hold tight," he said calmly.

Before anyone could react further, another car suddenly appeared from the side road, cutting sharply in front of the convoy.

Everything happened within seconds.

The black SUV behind them accelerated rapidly.

Brakes screeched.

Tires burned against the asphalt.

The peaceful morning shattered into chaos.

Kabir instinctively grabbed Arohi's arm as the car jerked violently. Rani gasped in shock while Samim held onto the dashboard.

Then came the sound.

A terrible metallic crash that seemed to split the world apart.

Glass shattered.

The car spun violently across the road.

For a brief moment everything felt weightless.

Arohi's vision blurred as the world around her turned upside down. The last thing she saw was Kabir's frightened face beside her and Rani screaming somewhere in the background.

Then darkness swallowed everything.

The quiet forest road fell silent again.

Smoke slowly rose from the wrecked vehicles.

And somewhere not far away, hidden among the trees, someone watched the scene calmly.

As if this had been planned from the very beginning.
