"Hmmm... Is that so?" Korin muttered.
He looked at her.
She looked right back.
'Chew on THAT,' she thought with a smile.
Two people smiling at each other in the afternoon light, both knowing exactly what was sitting between them.
'You absolute fraud,' Faelyn thought, keeping her smile right where it was. 'Standing here acting like my favourite person when you spent this morning handing our entire territory to people who want us dead. I genuinely hope you step on something sharp every single morning for the rest of your natural life.'
"Wonderful news," Korin said. "Truly. Clean water for everyone. That's all any of us ever wanted."
"Isn't it," she agreed.
He reached out and squeezed her arm.
Roshan materialized between them so fast Faelyn felt the air move. His hand locked around Korin's wrist before the squeeze had even finished, and the two leopard warriors nearby took an instinctive step back at whatever was on Roshan's face.
"Don't," Roshan said.
