Chapter 2 - The Inverted Sky

He was losing hopes slowly, he gave his all but nothing is working. He is going more deeper, the remaining rays of twilight starting to fade from his vision. The end he was talking about all along was seemingly getting closer.

He is almost out of oxygen, he is doing his best to go higher but an invisible force is pulling him down recklessly.

Silas turned his head around, looking deeper for any hopes to survive but there was nothing in this ominous place. Struggle and panic can be seen purely visible on his face. He want to scream but its just inviting death to home.

The next second something changed, there was a small light shining below him. He turned his body completely facing the light as he swim down at his best, sinking more deeper and deeper until eventually, he was out.

Silas took few deep breathes, he strained his hair back, cleaning his eyes off. What he saw made a new fear erupt deep inside of him.

"What the hell is this."

There was land beneath him, but there was no water on it at all. The water was floating right in middle of sun and ground.

He tried to look over the world, however he was unable to see properly due to blurry vision along side no rays of sunlight at all. All he can see is a shining object right beneath him like a hope.

If it wasn't for that object, he would have given up already. Silas noticed that the whole area as long as he can see is covered in sand.

"Gray sand? i have never seen such type of sand, what is this all about, first floating water and now this. Can't I just get a simple thing at one point."

He was confused for a moment after looking at the sand color, it wasn't any ordinary sand instead it was covered in gray and if that wasn't enough. Instantly, Silas felt a strong smell cross right through his nose.

He pressed his fingers on to his nose to block such smell out of instinct.

'What the hell was that now.'

Silas didn't felt safe down here, he looked at himself only to found him upside down. He got scared of it in an instant, he felt as if he was gonna fall. He tried to swim upwards however, Silas fell for trap. His eyes shut close, all he can see is darkness. The next second his eyes wide open.

He was laying on ground, he was facing upwards into dark skies. He moved his body to found a few sand stick to it.

The small object he was thinking of hope turned out to be right beside him, It was lantern sending off bright light around him. He can easily use it to explore around this corrupted world using the lantern.

He stood up slowly, walking towards the lantern. He noticed his clothes were still wet. His hair were stick to his head giving off a weird feelings.

Silas don't have any idea after all, what happened to him, he just fell unconscious in the water but woke up at ground . It doesn't make any sense to him that fall could have killed him in an instant, he is not made out of steel or anything at all to survive such fall.

He took a deep breathe and slowly moved his one hand forward and picked up the lantern.

It was emitting flames enough for him to view for few meters. It didn't had any glass outside to protect it at all as well.

Silas used the lantern to give a glance upon himself. He wasn't looking or wearing something he was wearing before he entered the trials.

He was wearing a black tunic which length to his toes. He touched his hair to find it silky but moisty which was only covering his head well. He looked down at his hands only to find one of his hands having a small burn mark on its arm. It was completely covered in red, as if it was recently wounded.

Silas looked up into the sky where he fell from. There was a really small light shining. The sun isn't set yet , he got himself few minutes more to explore properly.

He got on to his knees and picked a hanful of sand. He gave a closer look to it, it was covered in gray and white substance. It felt similar to sand by the texture after all.

"Something new, at least not harmful."

He stood up and looked around for a while. There was nothing except for plain desert, it was his instinct which will guide him forward.

He took a step towards his right which from his angle can be considered as east. He took few steps forward looking at the utter darkness in front of him.

It was certain to him, if anything attacks him at that moment. He is more then done, he can't survive it at all, not in the condition like this.

He was holding out lantern on his raising it till his shoulder to have better vision.

He kept walking for a while, there was nothing new, all he keep seeing is the gray dust growing more and more further out ways.

"Speaking of weird phenomena, why isn't water falling after all. How is it stuck in the air. Is gravity here much worse? I don't think so I will get its answer anytime sooner."

Silas was mostly confused about it, and if we look other way, why was he not falling down when he was inside of that water. Just how strong is the current inside of water. Its core seems to be far more powerful then he expected then.

Silas moved his hand forward, touching his arm only to notice a little muscular build of himself, and wearing a sleeveless tunic makes his body much more visible.

There was no wind after all, but other way there was no warm weather too. It was exactly the weather one human can ever wish for.

Silas couldn't help but feel a little happy about it, after all he is still covered in fear.

"I guess, spell wasn't that rude after all."

Still, he didn't had a ounce of respect for spell. It didn't just killed his people, it almost destroyed the humanity Silas had been losing lately.

While lost in thoughts, Silas saw a small glimpse of a tall structure, it was incredibly tall. Nothing can be told if its safe or not by looking from this far.

"I might get to meet people of here. It can help me learn better about the truth of this place."

He wasn't walking anymore, he was running. Running like a madman. His eyes full of hope once again.

He didn't stop for any second at all making his way finally to the unknown building.

His eyes wide open, he was speechless for few seconds looking up at it. Taking in heavy breathes after doing a long sprint. A small smile curve one corner of his face.

Silas spoke out in tired some voice slowly taking heavy breathes.

"I never expected to see a colosseum in my whole life right in front of my eyes"
