Chapter 1 - Come forth… Zafkiel.

Douluo Continent — Heaven Dou Empire

Suotuo City — Rose Hotel

The lobby on the first floor of the Rose Hotel was unusually noisy.

Two men and a young woman stood facing each other, the tension between them thick enough to cut.

"I said this room belongs to me," the blond man said coldly.

Tang San frowned slightly. "Sir, we arrived first."

"So what?"

"Nothing much," the blond man replied lazily. "Just telling you to get lost."

At that moment, the hotel doors opened.

Li Xiaoyao stepped inside.

The first thing he saw was the argument unfolding in the lobby.

His gaze swept across the three figures.

Tang San.

Xiao Wu.

And Dai Mubai.

A faint smile appeared on Li Xiaoyao's lips.

So it's them.

Tang San — the so-called chosen one.

Xiao Wu — the hundred-thousand-year transformed spirit beast.

And Dai Mubai — the debauched prince of Star Luo.

Li Xiaoyao felt slightly amused.

He was a transmigrator.

Before arriving in this world, he had simply been an ordinary person who stayed up all night watching videos of Tokisaki Kurumi.

Unfortunately, that decision ended with him being bound to a malfunctioning beginner system.

The system self-destructed not long after activating.

But before it disappeared, it left him with a rather generous novice gift package.

Li Xiaoyao had obtained the Time Angel Zafkiel, the same ability used by Tokisaki Kurumi.

Along with it came a complete set of Hundred-Thousand-Year Angel Spirit Bones.

It was nothing less than a god-tier start.

With those advantages, Li Xiaoyao had already reached the level of a Level 70 Quasi-Spirit Saint.

The reason he came to Suotuo City was simple.

Xiao Wu.

A hundred-thousand-year spirit beast in human form.

To Li Xiaoyao, she was essentially a walking hundred-thousand-year spirit ring and spirit bone.

If he could obtain her spirit ring, he would immediately become a true Seven-Ring Spirit Sage.

And his spirit ring configuration would become:

Three purple.

Three black.

One red.

A terrifying combination.

But Li Xiaoyao wasn't in a hurry.

His gaze lingered briefly on Tang San.

Tang Hao should be nearby.

The legendary Clear Sky Douluo was secretly protecting his son. Acting recklessly would only invite trouble.

No.

He needed patience.

One perfect strike.

One clean kill.

Only then could he claim Xiao Wu's spirit ring without interference.

Still…

Li Xiaoyao looked at the scene unfolding in front of him and chuckled quietly.

Running into Tang San and Xiao Wu the moment he arrived in Suotuo City…

That saved him quite a bit of trouble.

Since they were already here, he might as well stir things up.

Li Xiaoyao stepped forward.

"Hey."

The three of them turned toward him.

"Are you done arguing yet?"

He leaned casually against a pillar, his tone filled with mockery.

"You're all Spirit Masters, right?"

"Instead of wasting time talking, why don't you settle it the proper way?"

"Fight."

"Whoever wins gets the room."

"In this world… the only thing that matters is whose fist is stronger."

The lobby fell quiet for a moment.

Then the reactions came.

Dai Mubai's face darkened immediately.

Tang San's eyes narrowed with caution.

Xiao Wu, however, looked excited.

"Third Brother!" she said eagerly. "You deal with this loudmouth!"

"I'll handle the blond guy!"

Before Tang San could respond, Xiao Wu had already released her spirit.

Two yellow spirit rings rose from beneath her feet.

She dashed straight toward Dai Mubai.

Dai Mubai snorted coldly.

"Trying to fight me?"

A powerful white tiger phantom flickered behind him as he activated his spirit.

The battle began instantly.

Meanwhile, Li Xiaoyao turned his gaze toward Tang San.

A faint smile remained on his face.

"Well?"

"Little scum."

"Want to try your luck against me?"

Tang San's expression instantly turned cold.

Blue-silver grass sprouted from his palm.

Two yellow spirit rings slowly rose beneath his feet.

"Tang San."

"Spirit: Blue Silver Grass."

"Level Twenty-Nine Control-Type Spirit Grandmaster."

"Please advise."

Tang San raised one hand calmly.

But his eyes were sharp and focused.

Li Xiaoyao chuckled.

"Oh?"

"You're serious?"

"That makes things more interesting."

Before hunting Xiao Wu, playing with Tang San for a while didn't sound like a bad idea.

A surge of spirit power spread through the lobby.

Li Xiaoyao slowly raised his hand.

"Come forth…"

"Zafkiel."

A metallic ticking sound echoed through the air.

At first it was faint.

Like the quiet ticking of a clock.

But it quickly grew louder.

Behind Li Xiaoyao, golden light gathered.

A massive clock materialized in midair, its gears turning slowly.

At the same moment, a spinning golden clock appeared inside Li Xiaoyao's left pupil.

Two weapons appeared in his hands.

A long antique rifle.

And a short flintlock pistol.

Then—

Four spirit rings rose beneath his feet.

Purple.

Purple.

Purple.

Black.

A terrifying pressure instantly filled the room.

"Li Xiaoyao."

"Spirit: Zafkiel."

"Level Forty-Three Attack-Type Spirit Ancestor."

"Please advise."

In reality, Li Xiaoyao was far stronger than that.

But thanks to the Angel Head Spirit Bone skill — Disguise, his true strength remained hidden.

After all…

A trump card should never be revealed too early.

Tang San's pupils shrank.

"Level… forty-three?"

"And those spirit rings…"

Three purple.

One black.

That configuration was impossible.

According to the Ten Core Spirit Theories taught by his teacher Yu Xiaogang, such a spirit ring arrangement should not exist.

Tang San felt his heart sink.

Is the theory wrong…?

His blue-silver grass trembled slightly under the pressure.

Nearby, Dai Mubai and Xiao Wu also noticed the rings.

Dai Mubai inhaled sharply.

"Three purple… and one black?"

"Even Spirit Hall geniuses don't have rings like that…"

His expression became extremely serious.

Xiao Wu's face turned pale.

An instinctive fear rose from deep within her bloodline.

She could feel it clearly.

The power emanating from Li Xiaoyao…

Was extremely dangerous.
