Chapter 10 - Chapter 11: Natasha’s Roleplay?

Setting aside the conversation between Daredevil and Stick, Lin Feng had already made his way back home. To avoid being spotted, he kept the Snake Talisman active, remaining completely invisible.

Before long, Lin Feng was back in his apartment, standing in the living room. He intended to head straight to his room, but just then...

Click.

The bathroom door opened, and Jessica walked out. She had just finished washing up and was wrapped in a bath towel. Her graceful figure was partially visible through the steam.

Step, step!

Jessica walked toward her own room, but halfway there, she suddenly stopped. She turned her head and looked directly toward Lin Feng's room—and the space where he was standing.

Invisible, Lin Feng was slightly stunned. Could she sense me? Jessica was strong, but surely not that strong!

"Hasn't he come back yet?" Jessica suddenly muttered to herself in a small voice.Regarding Lin Feng, she felt mostly sympathy and gratitude, completely unaware that he was actually a powerhouse hiding in plain sight. Seeing that he hadn't returned so late, she couldn't help but worry.

With that thought, Jessica went back to her room, changed her clothes, and left the house.

Watching this unfold, Lin Feng finally understood: Jessica was worried about his safety.

"Quite the kind-hearted little girl, isn't she?" Lin Feng chuckled inwardly. "I guess I'll have to start using the front door from now on!"

Shaking his head helplessly, Lin Feng slipped into the shadows and left the house. He circled around to stage a "chance encounter" with Jessica on the street. After a brief exchange, Jessica claimed she had just stepped out to buy something, and Lin Feng didn't call her out on the lie.

He accompanied her to a convenience store before they both headed back home.

"Goodnight, Jessica!" Lin Feng said with a smile as they parted ways.

Jessica simply nodded in silence. Throughout the entire interaction, she never asked where he had been, acting as if she didn't care. Little did she know, Lin Feng had seen right through her.

"Since you took me in, I'll be the one to change your destiny in the future..." Lin Feng thought, recalling the tragic fate Jessica was supposed to face.

In the original timeline, Jessica would be mentally enslaved by the Purple Man. The torment she would endure was unspeakable; turned into a puppet and forced to act against her own will, she would eventually be left in utter despair. A girl this kind didn't deserve such a rocky fate.

Lin Feng didn't mind being the butterfly that flapped its wings to start a storm. Besides, it would provide a perfect opportunity to "check in."

"Shadow Ninjas, protect Jessica from the shadows. Report any news to me immediately!"

After giving his orders, Lin Feng took a towel and headed to the bathroom to wash up.

Time flew by. For the next period, Lin Feng stopped venturing out and lived a quiet, secluded life. He spent his days training intensely with the Shadow Khan Legion, digging deep into the potential of his bloodline.

The potential of the Light-Shadow Bloodline was immense. Although he only possessed the Water attribute of the Five Elements, if developed to the extreme, it could at least reach the limits of mortal potential. Furthermore, the power of the armor scaled with the strength of the summoner. Lin Feng wasn't about to pass up any chance to grow stronger.

At the same time, he kept a constant eye on the outside world. The Shadow Khan served as his eyes and ears; almost every key figure he could think of was being monitored in secret. He could sense the beginning of major plot points at any moment.

For now, the timeline was peaceful. No one could have predicted just how turbulent the coming era would be. But amidst this calm before the storm, someone had already set their sights on Lin Feng.

Midtown High School, New York.

Jessica had gradually begun to emerge from her shell and returned to school, though she remained much more quiet and withdrawn than before. One morning, as she arrived at the school gates, she met her best friend.

"Hi, Jessica! Good morning!" a bright, beautiful girl greeted her with a smile.

"Good morning, Gwen," Jessica replied, offering a faint, almost imperceptible smile.

Gwen Stacy naturally linked arms with her, and the two walked toward their classroom together.

"Did you hear, Jessica? We have a new history teacher starting today. Apparently, she's also doubling as a guidance counselor," Gwen gossiped curiously. "They say she's an expert on modern history. More importantly, she's supposed to be gorgeous and really sophisticated. Want to go check her out after class?"

"A guidance counselor?" Jessica frowned slightly, feeling a wave of resistance. After the accident involving her family, she had been subjected to numerous counseling sessions during her recovery in the hospital. This had left her with a bit of "counseling PTSD."

However, facing her friend's invitation, she hesitated for a moment before finally nodding. "Alright, sure."

"Heehee, I knew you were the best!" Gwen squeezed Jessica's arm even tighter, leaning into her. Her blossoming figure was already far beyond what one would expect for her age.

Once the morning classes ended, Jessica accompanied Gwen to the counseling office, pretending to walk past the door casually. A single accidental glance, however, left them both frozen in their tracks.

"Good heavens, is she a goddess of beauty?" The same thought flashed through both of their minds.

The woman inside exuded a natural, effortless charm—mature and sensuous. Even the standard white lab coat couldn't hide her near-sinful curves. Compared to her, the two girls felt hopelessly immature. It was the difference between a tart green lemon and a succulent honey peach; both were fruit, but the "flavor" was worlds apart.
