Chapter 21 - Chapter 22: Not Exactly a VIP, Don't Mind Him.jpg

"If you encounter any problems, contact me immediately or seek help from the staff," Natasha added, her voice clear and gentle, commanding the respect of the students.

"Yes, Miss Natasha!" the students chorused, quickly scattering toward the exhibits that interested them most.

Natasha caught Lin Feng's eye one last time. She didn't let any of their private history show on her face, but she gave a faint curl of her lips before walking off on her own, leaving Lin Feng to his "date."

"So, Jessica, do you want to stay with us, or go on a private date with Lin?" Betty teased her friend, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Beside her, Gwen was struggling to suppress a giggle.

"I..." Jessica's face was bright red, caught between embarrassment and nerves.

Lin Feng didn't share her hesitation. He was here to trigger iconic scenes, and he had no intention of letting Gwen out of his sight. What if she was one of today's "lucky ones"? And even if she wasn't, with him here, he could turn a lack of accidents into a very productive "accident."

"Gwen, Betty," Lin Feng said, giving a casual shrug. "Technically, I'm the third wheel here. If I end up ruining your girl-time, I'd feel like a criminal."

"Hehe, you certainly know the right things to say, Lin," Betty said, nodding in approval.

She liked his manners. If he and Jessica really did become a couple, as a best friend, she felt she could trust him with Jessica's heart.

"Then let's go! I can't wait to see the primates!" Betty urged, leading the way."Yeah," Gwen nodded, and the group prepared to head off.

But just then, the tall and handsome Flash Thompson strode over, stopping directly in front of her.

"Hey, Gwen!" Flash's voice was dripping with confidence and a hint of swagger. "I've actually done quite a bit of research in the field of biology. Why don't we walk together? I can be your free guide. What do you say?"

"Flash?" Gwen's brow furrowed slightly, though she maintained a polite, practiced smile. "Thanks, Flash, but I've already made other plans. You should probably find someone else."

She was well aware of Flash's intentions, but she had zero interest in being more than classmates. Besides, even though Flash looked like the quintessential "golden boy," he gave her a bad vibe. As the daughter of the police captain, she had a keen ear for the whispers of high society, and the young master of the Thompson family didn't exactly have a stellar reputation.

"Uh..." Flash's expression froze. To be rejected so flatly was a blow he hadn't expected.

He shot a venomous glance at Lin Feng, gritted his teeth, and tried one more time. "Gwen, I—"

"Do you have trouble understanding English?" Betty interrupted, her voice sharp with annoyance. "Didn't you see us, Flash? We already have a date! Stop pestering our Gwen."

Without waiting for a response, she grabbed Gwen and Jessica, leading them away without looking back. Lin Feng followed silently behind them. He didn't have much of an impression of Flash Thompson, so he didn't give the boy a second thought. As the meme goes:

'He's a nobody. Don't worry about it.jpg'

"Damn it!!" Flash stood rooted to the spot, his face twisting into a mask of rage. After being rejected multiple times, his sense of superiority felt like it had been trampled into the dirt.

He was a Thompson. In terms of looks and family background, how could he not utterly eclipse Lin Feng? Yet that "yellow monkey" was walking away, laughing and talking with Gwen. The more he thought about it, the more his blood boiled. He didn't direct his anger at Betty or Gwen; instead, he fixed a hateful glare on Lin Feng's back. Shaking with fury, he turned and stormed off, having lost all interest in the expo.

Nearby, Peter Parker watched the scene in silence, his sense of inferiority deepening. If even someone like Flash couldn't catch Gwen's eye, what hope did he have?

"Hey, Parker, what are you daydreaming about? If you like her, go for it! I think someone's eyes are about to pop out of their head!" A chubby boy leaned in, a teasing grin on his face.

"Shut up, Ned!" Peter jumped, startled. "Mind your own business!" He tried to walk away, but the boy caught up, slinging an arm around Peter's neck with a chuckle.

"Don't be mad, I'm just joking. Since we're both flying solo today, why don't you come with me to see the goldfish?"

"What's so great about goldfish? We should go look at the insects," Peter grumbled, but he didn't resist. The two friends headed off together.

Meanwhile, Lin Feng was genuinely enjoying his time touring the expo with the girls. He had to admit, Oscorp Industries was truly a powerhouse. Setting aside the "Green Goblin" factor, their prowess in bio-engineering was evident in the bizarre and fascinating specimens on display.

They eventually reached the insect pavilion, but Lin Feng didn't notice anything unusual at first. He didn't see a single spider that looked out of place. He began to suspect that the spider that bit Peter Parker might not have been a formal part of the exhibit.

As it turned out, he was right.
