I pushed open the heavy oak door and stepped outside. The village was a masterpiece of rustic charm. Woman in tunics and breeches were everywhere — carrying bascket of grains, leading mountain ponies and loud laughing in what seems like a guild.
Then the crowd parted.
The sound of hoofbeats on cobelstones drew everyone's attention. A white warhorse, draped in crimson silk, trotted into the village square. Atop sat a woman who radiated main herione energy so hard it particulary vibrated.
She wore gleaming silver plate armour over a deep red gambeson. Her platinum blone hair was pulled back into a severe, perfect bun, and her expression was cooler than winter morning in the mountains
The system flashed infront of me
[Target aqquired: Seraphina captian of the rose guard]
Identity: The shield of the realm and is respected by the queen of the rose kingdom.
Status: Unimpressed by everything.
System suggestion: Accidently fall into her path.
Before i could process the suggestion, my own feet seemed to betray me. A loose stone, a sudden gust of wind, or maybe just the system pulling my strings—I stumbled.
Whoa!!
I didnt just fall; i particulary launched myself toward the white horse. Seraphina's eyes snapped toward me, cold and sharp as a blade. In one fluid motion , she dismounted before her horse even stopped, her armored boots hitting the ground with a heavy clank.
She caught me. Her metal-clad arms were suprisingly steady, wrapping around my waist to keep me from face-planting into the ground. Up close, she smelled like ozone and expensive perfume.
Careful, citizen, she said, her voice a low commanding rasp, she didn't let go immediately. Her violent eyes searched mine, her brow furrowing slightly as the [magnetic aura] kicked in for the first time.
[Ding!]
Charisma check: succes
Seraphina's thought: Why is this peasent's skin so radiant? And why my heart beating faster just because i held her?
CP Earned: 10.
I looked up at her, making sure my eyes were as wide and innocent as possible. I... i'm so sorry captain. I think the sun just got to me. Or maybe your armor reflecting it? It's very bright.
Seraphina cleared her throat, a tiny hint of pink touching her cheekbones. She pulled back adjusting her cape with a sharp tug. Ensure you stay hydrated. The village of oakhaven has no room for fainting commoners.
She turned to her guards, but i saw her steal one last glance at me before she marched toward the Elder's hall.
The system appeared suddenly.
[NEW QUEST UNLOCKED: The Captain's shadow]
Goal: Get invited to the rose guards barracks.
Reward: A set of standard adventure gear.
Thats gonna be hard and easy, i murmured to myself.
To be continued.
