Chapter 142 - Bizzare acts.

Jace smiled inwardly. 'Might as well...' he thought as he raised his hand toward the fireball.

"Magnify!"

The world felt silent for a moment as the fireball hit the Devil.

Then everything exploded to hell.

Booooooom!

It was as if the light of day had pierced the dark of night and lit the world up for a moment, until the shockwave hit Jace and he was thrown back, stumbling violently through the street like a ragdoll.

Jace's ears were burst open and ringing hard—both he who was hidden in the reflection and his marionette who had survived the worst of the shockwave...

The blast radius exceeded a range of over 10 meters and far exceeded Jace's expectations.

'Fuckin' hell!'

Jace got up with some difficulty, only to find himself over 20 meters from where he originally was.

The body of his marionette was extremely damaged, with some of its bones broken and skin charred. This was to be expected, as Beyonders from the Door pathway had no enhanced physical attributes of any form.

Fortunately, the Scarlet Lunar Corona was already working its regenerative power and healing the body (this power that was bestowed upon the girl, and had already returned).

Jace shook away his disoriented state and looked at the burning and smoking crater that occupied 15 meters of the whole street.

Fortunately, the buildings around were still standing, but there was some damage, like all the glass windows and accessories inside being broken due to the shockwave.

'What the fuck did I expect! The fireball was that of a Sequence 5 Hunter and it was infused with a Reaper's 'Cull', and like a fool I used 'Magnify' on it...'

Jace felt like an idiot.

'Magnify' was a power that could be used on a normal gust of wind to turn it into a hurricane; thankfully, the 'Magnify' he had used was only about half as powerful as the real deal, otherwise he would have blown up the whole block.

'On a positive note—at least the Devil is dead... right?'

The Devil was definitely dead; Jace didn't even need to do a divination to confirm that, and by all means, if the Devil survived that shit, then he—in all honesty—deserved to live.

Jace looked around at the spectacle caused by him.

One particular building on the right side of the crater had caught fire, but Jace immediately used his fire-controlling power from within the reflection and extinguished every fire that was in the area, including the crater.

After doing that, his figure immediately faded as he disappeared from the scene.

By now, his actions had called a lot of attention, and it was only a matter of time before the official Beyonders who were patrolling around for the Devil would be here.

He did not care much for the Beyonder characteristic of the Devil, as he already had the Devil Ring and had no need for a similar characteristic.

A few hours later, Jace sat on one of the tallest towers in Trier. Beside him sat his marionette Christoph, whose clothes were burned and not in the best shape...

The hour was early; the light of the morning sun shining through the cloudy sky had lit the sky orange. The city had just woken up.

As he gazed upon the city, Jace couldn't help but feel a bit nostalgic. He remembered gazing upon the modern world from a high building at night, lit up with all kinds of lighting, tall skyscrapers, and billboards.

And here he was, sitting in a totally different world.

'I guess it's time to leave Trier for a while...'

There were still many things he wanted to do here, like visit the catacombs of the 4th Epoch that were situated below the whole of Trier, and encounter a Demoness and know the taste of a Demoness for real—like, all the way real—because the Demoness Sect was especially active in Intis and he had expected to find one here... But for now, he had to leave.

And now, what he was about to do was one of the major reasons he was going to leave.

Jace sighed and got up. "Let's do it," he said to his roughed-up marionette, Christoph.

Christoph got up with a solemn expression. He looked up at the cloudy dark sky, raised his hand, and pointed it up.

Earlier, when Jace used a 'Recorded' Sequence 4 power, he felt a good amount of his potion digest. Of course, this wasn't a huge amount, but it was still worth a couple weeks' worth of acting method, likely because the explosion he caused affected a lot of people and even confused official Beyonders as to what the fuck just happened.

It was bizarre, and it helped Jace digest his potion to the 50 percent mark. He could now finally make another marionette—but why stop at that?

If it was about his marionette using its demigod-level power and affecting people in all kinds of ways, then he knew of an even better method.

"Torrential Downpour!"

The space around Christoph's hand rippled as he used the recorded power. By now, a few hours had passed since the Devil incident, so his spirituality had recovered, and he had no trouble using another recorded demigod power.

Within seconds, the sky within a radius of half a kilometer turned dark and dense, and it started raining—softly at first, but later it intensified a little.

Of course, this was nothing compared to the real deal, which would be like a storm with lightning strikes and hurricanes, but this was a power half as powerful as the original one, and that was limited by the small amount of spirituality Christoph purposely used, as he only wanted rain and not all the lethal stuff that comes with it.

As soon as it started raining, Jace made Christoph stop using the power, but one part was still remaining.

Christoph kept his hand raised and used another power!

"Magnify!"

With Magnify, Jace magnified the weather to a limited extent, which resulted in the radius of the dark clouds increasing and the rain intensifying again.

Now Jace was done. His body was soaked with the rain he had summoned himself as he stood there looking up at the sky with his eyes closed.

This was a bizarre act.

It was not the monsoon, so rain in this season was unusual. This would baffle and amaze all the people in this particular range and others who heard about it. They would think, 'Why the hell is it raining!?' Children would be joyed while workers would be inconvenienced, but they would all be affected by it.

More than that, this was supernatural rain. The mid-sequence Beyonders under it would likely figure that out, and the official Beyonders would likely even investigate it.

'Not bad... not bad at all, hehe,' Jace chuckled inwardly as he started feeling his potion digest.

In one night, Jace had depleted his marionette's reserves of demigod powers—which were four demigod powers, to be precise.

But that was fine, as he could always pester Catherine and get her to comply and let his marionette record more of her powers.

Soon, Jace used the Polymath Ring to turn into a wraith and disappeared into the reflection of a metal card where his marionette Christoph hid, and Christoph soon disappeared into the spirit world using what was left of his spirituality.

It would be unwise to stay here. After the crazy night Jace had here, he decided he wouldn't return for a month or two.

Return to Backlund again...
