Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: “Tower of Hearts”

4:07 PM. Hidden Chamber.

The light around Armaan's fists kept growing.

Not red like rage.

Not black like fear.

Golden.

Warm. Alive.

For the first time since entering the chamber, the monster stepped back.

Its thousand stolen faces twisted in confusion.

Its armor cracked with lines of bright light spreading like sunrise through stone.

Its voice thundered through every wall—

LOVE IS A WEAKNESS.

Armaan slowly lifted his eyes.

No trembling now.

No hesitation.

No doubt.

"No," he said quietly.

He took one step forward.

"It's the reason I survive everything you send."

The chamber shook.

Because truth always hit harder than violence.

4:08 PM. Glass Capsule.

Cracks spread across Mira's prison.

Mirror energy sparked around the glass like broken lightning.

She pressed her palm against the inside wall.

"Armaan…"

He walked through falling debris and placed his glowing hand against the capsule.

For one second—

their hands aligned through the barrier.

The entire chamber exploded with alarms.

UNAUTHORIZED BOND DETECTED

REALITY FRAMEWORK FAILING

Pillars bent.

Ceiling lights burst.

Steel walls groaned.

Mira raised one eyebrow.

"Nice."

Then smirked.

"Even physics can't stay calm around us."

Despite everything—

Armaan laughed.

And somehow, hearing that laugh made Mira's chest feel strangely warm.

4:10 PM. Monster Charge.

The creature roared and lunged.

Its body changed shape while moving.

Now claws.

Now blades.

Now the faces of people Armaan once trusted.

Its speed cracked the floor.

"Left side!" Mira shouted.

Armaan turned and punched once.

BOOM.

Golden force erupted outward like sunrise.

The monster flew backward through the chamber, smashing through three pillars before crashing into a steel wall.

Dust swallowed everything.

Mira blinked.

"Okay…"

She folded her arms.

"That was extremely attractive."

Armaan almost lost focus again.

4:12 PM. The Core of Fear.

The dust cleared.

The creature rose again.

Larger now.

Wider.

Unstable.

Its chest split open like a mechanical ribcage.

Inside pulsed a black sphere.

From it came whispers—

You are not enough.

Everyone leaves.

You fail what you love.

She will regret choosing you.

Armaan froze.

His glow weakened instantly.

Because those were not random fears.

They were his own hidden thoughts.

The words he never spoke aloud.

The monster smiled using Armaan's own face.

I AM BORN FROM YOU.

4:14 PM. Mira Refuses Reality.

Shadows wrapped around Armaan's ankles.

His light flickered lower.

Then—

Mira slammed both fists against the capsule wall.

"Hey idiot!"

He looked up.

"You're really listening to that cheap copy?"

The monster turned toward her.

She ignored it completely.

"You're stubborn."

Another hit.

"Terrible at communication."

Another hit.

"Reckless."

Crack.

"Emotionally suspicious."

Crack.

Armaan stared.

Then her voice softened.

"But when I fall…"

She met his eyes.

"You always come back for me."

The chamber went silent.

"So stop acting weak in front of ugly things."

Armaan's golden light returned—

brighter than before.

The monster screamed.

4:16 PM. Breakout.

The capsule shattered.

Glass rained across the floor like stars.

Mira stumbled forward—

straight into Armaan's arms.

He caught her instantly.

Their eyes locked.

Too close.

Too long.

Neither moved.

Then energy exploded from both of them together.

Not his power.

Not hers.

Something new.

Golden light wrapped with silver flames.

The floor beneath them cracked in circles.

Every mirror in the chamber shattered at once.

The monster shrieked.

IMPOSSIBLE. TWO HEARTS SYNCHRONIZED.

Mira looked up calmly.

"Took you long enough."

Armaan smiled.

"Worth the delay."

But neither let go.

Not immediately.

4:18 PM. Dual Strike.

The creature attacked wildly.

Hundreds of shadow arms burst from its back.

Every hand carried a fear.

Every finger whispered failure.

Mira stepped beside Armaan.

"No dramatic solo move."

"Together?" he asked.

She looked at him once.

"Together."

She touched two fingers to his chest.

His fists became pure light.

He grabbed her wrist.

Silver energy covered her hands.

Then they moved.

Too fast for the eye.

One strike from Mira shattered the left side.

One punch from Armaan crushed the core shield.

A spin together split the monster down the center.

The chamber flashed white.

The black sphere broke.

Every shadow dissolved into dust.

Every stolen face vanished.

The system voice trembled.

FEAR ERASED

NEW LAW CREATED: TOUCH OF TRUST

4:21 PM. Quiet After War.

Dust drifted slowly.

The alarms were gone.

The whispers were gone.

Only breathing remained.

Mira was still standing close enough to hear his heartbeat.

She looked down at his arms around her waist.

"You held me for twelve seconds."

"I was stabilizing you."

"Liar."

"I'm efficient under pressure."

She stepped back half an inch.

"Do it again tomorrow."

Armaan forgot language existed.

4:23 PM. Almost Confession.

They walked toward the exit tunnel.

Broken mirrors reflected them side by side.

Mira glanced at him.

"You said something earlier."

"When?"

"You said you didn't want peace."

Armaan became suspicious.

"That seems private."

"You also said…" she continued, ignoring him,

"you wanted me."

He nearly stopped breathing again.

"That was combat dialogue."

"Mm."

"Strategic motivation."

"Of course."

She hid a smile.

Then quietly—

"For the record…"

He looked at her.

"I liked hearing it."

Armaan's steps actually faltered.

Mira pretended not to notice.

4:25 PM. New Threat.

Suddenly every broken screen in the chamber lit up red.

One symbol appeared everywhere.

A single watching eye.

Words formed beneath it—

CONGRATULATIONS, SUBJECTS.

YOU HAVE CLEARED FLOOR ONE.

Mira's smile vanished.

Armaan looked around.

"Floor one?"

The chamber walls began rising upward like an elevator shaft.

Far above them—

thousands of lights glowed in layers.

A tower.

Hidden beneath the city.

Massive beyond imagination.

Then the message changed.

ASCEND IF YOU WANT THE TRUTH.

RUN IF YOU WANT TO LIVE.

The city trembled overhead.

Mira slowly cracked her knuckles.

"I hate towers."

Armaan stood beside her.

"I hate whoever wrote that message."

She looked at him.

"Still coming with me?"

He answered without hesitation.

"Always."

For once—

Mira had no sarcastic reply.

Only silence.

Soft, dangerous silence.

Then she reached out… and held his hand.

Just once.

Just enough to shock him.

"Try not to die on Floor Two," she said.

Then she walked ahead.

Armaan stared at his hand like it had caught fire.

4:27 PM. Unknown Observer.

High above the tower…

In a room filled with screens…

Someone watched them.

A woman sat on a throne of wires and glass.

Elegant. Calm. Smiling.

Her eyes glowed silver.

She touched Mira's image on the screen.

"So," she whispered.

"You finally found him."

Then she touched Armaan's face.

"And he awakened early."

Behind her, ten sealed doors slowly unlocked.

One by one.

She stood.

"Prepare Floor Two."

Her smile widened.

"Let's see if love survives truth."
