Chapter 3 - The Hunters of Nexora

The ground continued to shake as the dark shadow in the distance grew larger. Ayan felt a strange pressure in the air, as if something powerful was approaching. The glowing sky dimmed slightly, and the energy lines beneath their feet flickered.

The girl stepped forward, her eyes sharp and focused. "Stay behind me," she said firmly.

Rudra quickly moved closer to Ayan. "I don't like this. Not at all."

Ayan didn't reply. His attention was fixed on the horizon.

From the glowing mist, figures began to appear—tall, armored beings similar to the ones they had just faced, but much larger and far more dangerous. Their bodies were darker, their red eyes brighter, and their movements slower but more controlled.

There were at least ten of them.

Ayan's heartbeat increased. "What are they?"

The girl answered without looking back. "Dark Sentinels. They are not just machines. They are controlled by Nexora's dark energy."

Rudra gulped. "That does not sound good."

The Sentinels stopped at a distance, forming a line. One of them stepped forward, taller than the rest. Its body emitted a faint black aura, and its voice echoed like metal grinding.

"Energy source detected," it said. "Primary target identified."

Its glowing eyes locked directly onto Ayan.

A chill ran through his body.

"Why are they looking at me?" he asked quietly.

The girl finally turned to him. "Because you are not just a human anymore."

Before he could react, the Sentinel raised its arm.

"Capture the target."

In an instant, all ten Sentinels charged forward.

The ground shook with their movement.

"Move!" the girl shouted.

She jumped forward, releasing a burst of blue energy that collided with the first Sentinel, pushing it back. Sparks flew as the impact echoed loudly.

Ayan grabbed Rudra's arm. "We can't just stand here!"

"I agree!" Rudra said. "But what do we DO?!"

Ayan looked at his hands. For a brief moment, he remembered the energy he felt inside the portal. That strange force… it was still there.

"I think… I try this," he said.

Before Rudra could stop him, Ayan stepped forward.

One Sentinel rushed toward him, raising its weapon.

Ayan closed his eyes for a split second and focused.

"Come on…" he whispered.

Suddenly, a faint glow appeared around his hand.

The Sentinel attacked.

Ayan reacted instantly, raising his arm.

A pulse of energy burst out—not very strong, but enough to block the attack. The impact pushed him backward, but he stayed on his feet.

"I did it!" he said in shock.

Rudra stared. "BRO YOU ACTUALLY DID IT!"

But the fight was far from over.

More Sentinels surrounded them. The girl continued fighting, moving with speed and precision, destroying one after another—but there were too many.

"We cannot hold them for long!" she shouted.

The leader Sentinel stepped forward again. "Energy level increasing. Initiate full capture."

Suddenly, all Sentinels changed formation.

Their bodies began to glow red.

Ayan felt it instantly—the energy around them was becoming unstable.

"What is happening?" he asked.

The girl's face turned serious. "They are preparing a containment field. If that activates, you will not escape."

Rudra panicked. "Okay, I officially hate this place!"

Ayan clenched his fists. "No… we are not losing here."

He looked at the Sentinels, then at the glowing sky.

Something inside him responded again.

Stronger this time.

His heartbeat slowed.

His fear disappeared.

Energy began to gather around him, brighter than before.

The girl noticed immediately. "Wait… this energy…"

Ayan stepped forward.

"I don't know what this is," he said, his voice calm but powerful. "But I am not letting them take me."

The light around him expanded.

The Sentinels paused.

For the first time—

They hesitated.

The leader spoke again, but this time, its voice showed something new.

"Unknown power detected…"

Ayan raised his hand.

Energy surged.

The ground cracked beneath his feet.

And in that moment—

Everything was about to change.
