Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Why Did You Hurt Yourself?..

Finally, Kabir carried Sanchi into the room and gently placed her on the bed.

Sanchi was still staring at him in shock.

Suddenly, Kabir stepped closer.

Very close.

His face was only inches away from hers, his warm breath brushing against her cheeks. His eyes had turned dangerously red with anger.

Without warning, he grabbed her wrist.

"How dare you?!" he growled.

"W-What? What did I do, Kabir?" Sanchi struggled against his grip.

Kabir tightened his hold.

"You seriously don't know what you did, Sanchi?"

He moved even closer.

Their faces were now so near that their noses almost touched.

Sanchi tried to understand the reason behind his sudden anger.

The next moment, Kabir pulled her toward him.

Her free hand instinctively landed on his chest.

Now there wasn't even enough space for air to pass between them.

The veins on Kabir's forehead bulged.

Sanchi's palm rested right above his heart.

"It's hurting... please, Kabir..." she whispered painfully while pressing against his chest.

The moment those words left her lips...

Everything inside Kabir froze.

Her hand.

Her voice.

The way she called his name.

For a few seconds, he forgot everything.

His anger.

His frustration.

Even himself.

Slowly, his grip loosened.

His breathing calmed.

His eyes softened.

Kabir immediately released her wrist and looked away.

Perhaps because he was afraid.

Afraid that Sanchi would notice what was happening to him.

Afraid that she would understand how much she was affecting him.

He abruptly stepped away from her.

Then suddenly, the image of her removing the bandage downstairs flashed through his mind.

His anger returned.

Without thinking, he punched the wall beside him.

Bang!

Sanchi flinched.

Kabir's voice turned cold and harsh.

"How dare you hurt yourself?"

"How dare you injure yourself like that?"

His eyes locked onto hers.

"I told you yesterday, and I'm telling you again today."

"Maybe marrying you doesn't give me the right to control your life..."

"But in front of God, I accepted responsibility for it."

His voice dropped lower.

"Your life carries my name now, Sanchi."

"So you don't have the right to destroy it."

"You don't have the right to hurt it."

Sanchi stared at him in disbelief.

"W-What are you saying?"

Kabir's expression didn't change.

"I'm saying the truth."

"The truth about your life."

"And you'll have to accept it."

With that, he turned and walked out of the room.

Before Sanchi could process his words, he returned carrying a first-aid box.

His face was calm again.

As if the angry man from a moment ago had never existed.

Kabir knelt down in front of her.

Then carefully took her injured foot into his hands.

"It's okay, Kabir. It's not that serious," Sanchi said while trying to pull her foot back.

Kabir looked up at her.

Just one look.

And Sanchi instantly fell silent.

Without saying another word, he gently held her foot again.

Carefully.

Painstakingly.

Almost lovingly.

He applied the medicine.

A soft gasp escaped Sanchi's lips when the antiseptic touched the wound.

Kabir heard it.

His jaw tightened.

"It hurts, doesn't it?" he said quietly.

"Of course it does."

"You're worse than a little child sometimes."

Sanchi frowned.

"I'm not a little girl, Kabir."

Kabir wrapped the bandage around her foot.

"Yes, you are."

"A stubborn little girl who never listens to anyone."

Sanchi crossed her arms.

"That's not true."

"If people explained things properly, I would listen."

Kabir raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? Is that so?"

"Yes, it is."

She answered with complete innocence.

The next second, Kabir leaned closer.

His lips were only inches away from her ear.

His deep voice sent chills down her spine.

"Then let's try that, Mrs. Sanchi."

"I am politely asking you..."

"Your life belongs to me now."

"So please don't try to hurt it."

For a moment, Sanchi completely froze.

Kabir had come close to her before.

Many times.

But this felt different.

Her heartbeat went completely out of control.

Her throat suddenly felt dry.

"Do you understand, Sanchi?" he asked softly.

He was still standing dangerously close.

"Y-Yes..."

"I understand."

She tightened her grip on the bedsheet.

A faint smile appeared on Kabir's lips.

"Very good girl."

He gently tapped her forehead.

Then, before Sanchi could react—

Kabir placed a soft kiss on her forehead.

Sanchi's eyes widened.

Kabir stood up and started walking toward the door.

"Kabir..."

Her voice stopped him.

Surprised, he turned around.

One look at her face and he instantly understood what she wanted.

He shook his head.

"No."

Sanchi pouted.

"Please..."

Still no response.

"Pleeeease, Kabir..."

And just like always...

Kabir lost.

Again.

To Sanchi.

He let out a deep sigh and silently sat beside her.

Sanchi immediately grabbed the first-aid box.

Taking his injured hand into her delicate fingers, she carefully lifted it.

Blood had dried around his knuckles from punching the wall.

Sanchi gently cleaned the wound.

Kabir watched her quietly.

Completely lost.

The innocence on her face.

Her slightly swollen eyes from crying.

Her soft cheeks.

Every little detail captured his attention.

For a moment, the world around him disappeared.

Then—

"Aww... Kabir bhai is melting in front of bhabhi!"

A teasing voice echoed from the doorway.

Both Kabir and Sanchi looked up.

Rudra and Om were standing there.

Watching everything.

Kabir instantly pulled his hand back.

"You two... when did you get here?"

His voice carried unusual nervousness.

Sanchi blinked in surprise.

Rudra smirked.

"Long enough."

Kabir immediately tried to defend himself.

"It's not what you think."

"Sanchi was just putting medicine on my hand."

Om looked at him calmly.

Then said something that made Kabir freeze.

"You're talking as if she's not your fiancée."

"As if you don't have any right over her."

The moment those words left Om's mouth—

Kabir realized what he had accidentally revealed.
