Chapter 94 - Chapter 94 : A Name That Shouldn’t Stay

Liora didn't stop running until the forest began to look familiar again. Only then did she slow down. Only then did she realize her breathing was uneven. Her hands were trembling. Her chest felt tight.

"…what was that…"

She whispered it, but the words didn't feel like a question. They felt like an attempt to hold onto something that was already slipping away. She leaned slightly against a tree, closing her eyes for a moment, trying to steady herself. The forest around her was normal again. The light filtered through the leaves like it always had. The sounds had returned—birds, wind, distant rustling. Everything was exactly as it should be.

So why didn't it feel that way?

Her hand slowly rose to her chest. Her heartbeat hadn't calmed yet.

"…Mira…"

The name slipped out. Soft. Uncertain. But the moment she said it, something shifted. Her breath caught.

"…why does that feel…"

She pressed her fingers gently against her chest, as if trying to grasp the feeling. It wasn't recognition. Not fully. But it wasn't empty either. That name—it didn't belong to her. And yet it didn't feel wrong.

"…I've never heard that name before…"

She shook her head slightly.

"…then why…"

Her thoughts stopped there. She didn't have an answer. Only a feeling. A strange, quiet warmth mixed with something heavier—something closer to loss. Her eyes opened slowly.

"…who was he…"

Not just the name. The boy. The way he looked at her—like he knew her. Not as a stranger. Not as someone he just met. But as someone… remembered. That thought made her chest tighten again.

"…that doesn't make sense…"

She stepped away from the tree. Trying to move. Trying to return to normal. But every step felt slightly off. Like something inside her had shifted out of place. And no matter how hard she tried, it wouldn't go back.

Arin hadn't moved from the clearing for a long time. Even after she left. Even after the forest returned to silence. He stood there, staring at the space where she had been.

"…Mira…"

He said it again. Slower this time. Like he was testing it. Like he was trying to understand why that name had come so easily. So naturally. His brows furrowed slightly.

"…no."

He exhaled. "That's not right." He knew that. Because the moment he said it, he felt it. That hesitation. That misalignment. The girl he saw was not the same person he remembered. But that didn't explain why the name had come to him in the first place.

"…so why her…"

He closed his eyes briefly. Trying to trace it back. Trying to find the source. But his memories didn't respond the way he wanted them to. They never did. Not when it came to this. Aditya's life was clear to him. Every decision. Every battle. Every consequence. He remembered all of it. Except her. Mira. He knew she existed. He knew she mattered. He knew she had been important enough to stay with him until the end. But beyond that—there was nothing. No face. No voice. No moments. Just a presence. A weight. A certainty.

"…why is it only her…"

Everything else remained intact. Every other memory had survived. But her—the one person who should have been the clearest—was the most distant. He clenched his hand slightly.

"…and now…"

His gaze shifted toward the direction Liora had gone.

"…I see someone…"

A pause.

"…and I call her by that name."

That wasn't coincidence. He knew that much. Nothing about this felt random.

"…then it's connected."

The thought settled firmly. Not as a guess. As a conclusion. Because even without remembering her, he remembered enough to know that name wasn't something he would say without reason.

"…but she didn't recognize it…"

That part mattered. More than he expected. If this was something real—something from his past—then she should have reacted. She should have known. But she didn't. Not completely. Which meant—

"…it's not just me."

Something had been lost. Not just from him but from her too. Or maybe—from both of them. He exhaled slowly. His mind settled. Not confused anymore. Focused.

"…then I need to find her again."

Not out of desperation. Not out of emotion. But because this was something he couldn't ignore.

That night—Liora couldn't sleep. She lay awake, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts refusing to settle. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw that moment again. The clearing. The silence. His gaze. And that name.

"…Mira…"

She whispered it again. And again that same feeling returned. Stronger this time. Not overwhelming. But deeper. Like something just beneath the surface was trying to rise. Her fingers tightened slightly against the blanket.

"…who is that…"

She didn't realize it, but the way she asked that question had changed. It wasn't just curiosity anymore. It was something closer to need.

Far away—Arin sat outside his house, looking up at the night sky. Silent. Still. But not at peace.

"…if that wasn't her…"

He spoke quietly. "…then why did it feel like it was."

No answer came. Only the distant sound of wind moving through the trees. But that was enough. Because now he wasn't waiting anymore. Something had begun again. Not in the world. Not yet. But in them. And this time, it wasn't going to fade.
