Chapter 1 - The golden years

Parallel world, China, Shanghai!

Yao Bin, who was nearly thirty years old, suddenly arrived in this unfamiliar place. It was completely different from his memories of his previous life. It seemed different from the Shanghai of his memories, yet it also seemed somewhat similar.

This left Yao Bin completely bewildered. Wasn't he dead? How was he still alive? And this was supposed to be Shanghai? How could it be so different from the Shanghai of his memory? Suddenly, he saw an advertisement for a real estate developer: Jingyan Group?

Hmm, this name sounds familiar; I feel like I've heard it somewhere before.

[Ding, the film and television system is serving the host!]

[The host is currently in the world of the film "Golden Years".]

It took Yao Bin quite a while to realize where he was! Having read many novels in the multiverse genre in his previous life, he understood that he had transmigrated into a TV series. He had read "The Golden Years" before, which explained why the name "Jingyan Group" sounded so familiar.

However, I don't remember the specific plot details very clearly.

Fortunately, the system was very considerate. Soon, Yao Bin was able to review the drama "Golden Years" through the system again. He had to say that it would be better to call it "Gold-digging Years". However, the female lead was quite good-looking, with a tea-and-gold vibe.

However, my own video system is very considerate; it doesn't provide anything, it's just a tool, with no tasks and no rewards! That's good enough, it's much better than being a tool of some system, right?

Yao Bin's situation is also very similar to that of the protagonists in Qidian, who are destined to be alone and have no relatives in this world, as his parents have long since passed away.

I quickly calmed down and realized that to survive in this world, the first thing you need is money!

In his previous life, Yao Bin was a financial tycoon, and he had an innate intuition for stocks. Before his transmigration and rebirth, he was used to all kinds of big events, and none of them were difficult for Yao Bin.

Then they started scrambling for liquid funds. It's still 2014, and the story won't begin for another year! And right now is the prelude to a stock market frenzy. If you don't get in now, when will you? Everyone's a stock market guru now.

The leverage made things even more frenzied, and every newbie felt confident in their abilities. But Yao Bin knew that this was all temporary, and that the stock market crash would come next June.

Having emptied several wallets (credit cards, microloans, etc.), Yao Bin raised a total of 200,000 yuan and plunged into the stock market! Anyway, the system didn't have any tasks, so he could take it slow! He'd just treat it as experiencing life; after all, he died so quickly in the last world, so this was all compensation.

Yao Bin thought to himself, "This is probably why the system contacted me."

System: You're probably just dreaming.

Six months later.

During this period, Yao Bin first made 1 million yuan in the stock market, and then switched to foreign exchange and futures. The stock market was too slow to make money, and foreign exchange and futures were much more exciting.

In the past six months, most people who trade stocks have made money because everyone is buying! In Shanghai's financial circles, people get rich every day while others go bankrupt; these are all "gambling gods" who have invested in foreign exchange and futures.

Amidst this cacophony of news, a mysterious figure emerged in the foreign exchange and international futures markets. Within four months, he amassed over a million dollars and became virtually invincible in major trading centers worldwide (Hong Kong, London, Singapore, and other locations).

It is rumored that he has earned 200 million Ugly Yuan. If Yao Bin heard this news, he would definitely curse it as nonsense. He said that he only earned 100 million Ugly Yuan. He asked Yao Bin to make up the remaining 100 million.

After the funds arrived in his bank account, Yao Bin decided to quit. There was no point in continuing. This amount of money was more than enough for him to live a carefree life in Shanghai. Isn't the point of making money to enjoy life? That's how it was in his past life—working hard all the time only to die young. What was the point?

Yao Bin has already achieved financial freedom. He first bought a house, then a car, and so on! There were no pretentious or embarrassing incidents. In fact, the sales staff in these places are all very professional, and there was no disrespectful or shady behavior.

The plots that frequently appear in novels are probably just the delusions of some authors.

Yao Bin has now upgraded his business and looks every bit the successful person. He then went to his usual spot to have a meal. Yao Bin really likes these old restaurants in Shanghai, but he doesn't really like things like Michelin tire ratings.

At the same time

In the old streets and alleys, under the sunlight, on the second floor of an old alley, Zhu Suosuo, with long hair flowing down her shoulders, is wearing pink pajamas and white shorts, sitting at a desk by the window.

She casually applied her nail polish, knowing without turning around that her cousin Luo Jiaming was watching her from outside the door. He was the old simp in the drama, and in the end, simps always end up with nothing.

"Luo Jiaming, what's the matter?" Zhu Suosuo asked. Luo Jiaming was her nominal cousin, meaning that Luo Jiaming was not related to her by blood. Her uncle was from a blended family, and she was currently living in her uncle's house.

"Tonight, our department is having a dinner party, and everyone brought their girlfriends. I thought..." Luo Jiaming said hesitantly. He had liked Zhu Suosuo for a long time, and she knew it all too well. Unfortunately, Luo Jiaming didn't have any money. When Zhu Suosuo moved away later, Luo Jiaming hugged his mother and asked her painfully, "Why don't we have any money?"

"I'm not going!"

Before Luo Jiaming could finish speaking, Zhu Suosuo interrupted him. Her intentions were obvious. If it was just to help her cousin pretend, that would be fine. The key was that Luo Jiaming really liked her.

"It's okay, I'll go out then." Luo Jiaming said with some disappointment. He dared not ask Zhu Suosuo to do anything. That's how humble a simp is.

"Wait a minute, where are we having dinner tonight?"

Zhu Suosuo called out to Luo Jiaming, continuing to apply her nail polish, and said without turning her head:

"It's too far, I won't go!"

"It's at most a fifteen-minute walk. I'll go get ready and call you when I'm done!"

Luo Jiaming left excitedly, while Zhu Suosuo continued applying nail polish expressionlessly. This was what it meant to live under someone else's roof. She had lived with her uncle's house since she was a child. Although her uncle and aunt treated her well, she still felt somewhat uncomfortable. Just like she said, the cabinets in her uncle's house were always locked.

Because Luo Jiaming was her aunt's son, she doted on him! After thinking about it, she agreed, which further strengthened her desire to leave. However, there was a drawback: she had no money. Was she supposed to go and wait on the streets?

Soon, Zhu Suosuo and Luo Jiaming finished getting ready. Luo Jiaming drove Zhu Suosuo to the company dinner venue. Luo Jiaming seemed very excited. Bringing Zhu Suosuo today would make him proud. Who would dare to say he didn't have a girlfriend at the company?

Yao Bin also found a hot pot restaurant in the alley, which, unsurprisingly, was where Luo Jiaming had his dinner. This arrangement made sense in the plot, didn't it? Otherwise, where would they find the main character to meet?
