Chada
I hadn't considered how amazing it would feel to be reunited again after the storm we endured. My heart finally calmed when he merely told me he was okay on the beach.
He held me to support me as we walked away from the sand area. He glanced towards our house. "I will have Abyss and maybe Onyx help with the restoration and magick once things are better."
I nodded. "My parents are here, though. They're staying at a hotel with my sister. They can't suspect anything."
He seemed to react ever so slightly at the mention of my parents, instead of his usual avoidance of any kind of social interaction. He appeared slightly curious; I could see the thought forming behind those eyes. He didn't ask anything, though, and just grumbled, "Why did you not bring any supplies for your leg with you?"
I sheepishly scratched the back of my head. "I forgot. I was just so focused on getting to you." The admission made both of us slightly awkward. We knew deep down how much we desired each other. I was always direct about it with him. The new part was that the air between us had changed and now we were confronting these feelings under less pretense.
For Sarit, I could tell this was a big deal. I hadn't seen him so gentle and nonthreatening in a while. He was regarding me with a certain affectionate manner I wasn't familiar with. Normally he'd express his care or growing attachment indirectly by hugging me or nuzzling against me when he thought I was asleep. He would show it to me in the most obvious ways whenever he felt I wouldn't notice.
"Well then I will go get some materials from your house," he stated, trying to get up to head in that direction.
I grabbed his hand. "No, no, it's too dangerous in there. I am not risking you under any circumstances." I figured he would clap back with one of his usual sassy retorts, but he just tilted his head to the side as if observing me.
He was looking at me with unfiltered warmth right now. The breeze picked up its pace and whirled through his hair, and the air carried a scent that reminded me of the sweet, calming smell after rain. "Petrichor," I mumbled. I realized all this time he had smelled of petrichor and fruit.
Could a scent even exist under the water? How was it he smelled so addictive? We were like that for a moment, my hand holding his as he stood before me looking like a being too magnificent for this world.
He slowly broke the stillness between us, saying, "Your wound could get infected." I shrugged. "Never mind that. Just come closer," I said, not expecting him to actually listen without argument.
He closed the distance between us and leaned over me now with a soft look. He observed my face as if he was the one enchanted. His eyes did this cute slow-blink thing that reminded me of cats. I pulled him even closer and buried my forehead into his shoulder, letting him feel my weakness for him. I took in his scent as if it were the most soothing thing on this planet. To me it was.
"I really like you so much," I uttered under my breath. I knew I wouldn't get an answer right now. I didn't need one. Everyone has their own pace in life. I knew Sarit needed more time to come to terms with these emotions. I wasn't in a hurry. For him I could wait until we were eighty.
He didn't leave me completely unanswered; he just quietly wrapped his arms around my head.
After lingering in that feeling for a moment I asked, "Will you come meet my parents with me? I mean, we can change the bandaging on my leg."
I looked up into his eyes and softly brushed a hair from his face. Now it seemed the dawn was beginning to break as a subtle warm light began to settle into our intimate bubble. He nodded softly once more and a large grin spread across my face.
We had one issue, though. Sarit needed more than just a jacket to get back to the hotel with me. Suddenly the memory of when we first met replayed in my mind, making me laugh. Sarit just looked at me with a glare. God, he was so cute.
"Let me go check more areas to see if Abyss's stuff is still there for me to get the clothes from, since you insist on me not entering the house," he said, casting a side glower at me.
He came back shortly after, donning an attire that seemed entirely unsuitable for him, but it would have to do. We could just get him more or take it all off later anyway.
During the car ride he quietly held my hand. I rubbed my thumb over the back of his and then pulled his hand closer and kissed it. We ignored the cab driver as we held each other closely. He leaned into my frame as if it was the only way he could breathe. I felt grateful for the proximity as it calmed my heart. I kissed the top of his head, breathing in his scent. What would life be without this little diva?
I liked this new atmosphere between us. I loved every moment with him. When the car stopped I still held my hand out to help him from the seat. He narrowed his eyes and shook his head, hoisting himself up by himself.
He was being really attentive as he observed the way I was struggling to walk. I could tell he noticed something was wrong even when I tried to play it off.
The second we tried to quietly enter the room before my family woke, I pinned him against the wall and kissed him passionately. It would have been a lovely moment if not for the lights suddenly turning on.
We looked up to see my three family members staring at us with big smirks on all their faces. "Mom, Dad..." I said as my father raised his eyebrows at me in amusement.
