Chapter 131: The Destruction of Q Organization
Boom!
A deafening explosion tore through the top of the luxury apartment building.
Flames swallowed the rooftop in an instant. Half the upper floor collapsed under the impact, steel beams bending, concrete splitting, and glass scattering from a hundred meters above like a glittering rain of knives.
The night sky burned red.
"What the hell was that?!"
The remaining low-level combatants from Q, still frozen by the sight of their two companions being cut down in an instant, were thrown into complete panic.
They had expected resistance.
They had not expected monsters.
And now, through the smoke and fire above the building, two figures descended one after another, stopping in midair outside the shattered floor-to-ceiling window of Riko Amanai's apartment.
The man in front wore an absurdly extravagant custom combat suit. A crown-like helmet rested on his head, and his face carried the kind of arrogant smile that made people want to punch him before he even opened his mouth.
He was Bayer.
The strongest combatant in the Curse User group known as Q.
Behind him hovered another man wearing a gas mask, his presence colder and far more sinister.
Kekun.
Q's second-in-command.
Bayer spread his arms, looking down at the broken apartment window as though he had already won.
"Hahahaha! So this is Jujutsu High's defense line? Pathetic!"
His gaze swept past Yami and locked onto the white-haired teenager in sunglasses.
"Satoru Gojo!"
His voice rang out across the night.
"Others may fear the so-called child of the Six Eyes, but I, Bayer, do not!"
Gojo raised an eyebrow.
Bayer did not notice, or perhaps he did and simply mistook that look for fear.
"Today, you die here! Once I kill you and eliminate the Star Plasma Vessel, the entire Jujutsu World will welcome a new era under Q!"
His laughter rolled through the burning air.
Then he formed a hand sign.
A violent surge of Cursed Energy burst from his body. The air groaned under the pressure, and chunks of concrete, broken glass, twisted steel bars, and shattered walls began rising from the ruined rooftop.
Piece by piece, debris gathered above him.
Within seconds, a massive sphere more than ten meters across formed in the sky, a crude meteorite made of steel and concrete, held together by Bayer's Cursed Technique.
That was the source of his confidence.
If it fell, this apartment would not merely be damaged.
It would be crushed.
"Die, Satoru Gojo!"
Bayer slammed both hands downward.
The massive meteorite dropped.
Its shadow swallowed the apartment.
"Ah!"
Riko Amanai and Misato Kuroi screamed. In the face of that kind of destruction, there was no room to dodge, no place to hide.
Geto's expression sharpened. Several defensive Cursed Spirits stirred behind him, ready to intercept.
But Gojo, the target of Bayer's grand declaration, did not move.
He did not even bother taking off his sunglasses.
Instead, he yawned.
Then, with both hands still in his pockets, he turned his head toward Yami.
"Instructor Yami," Gojo said lazily, "someone's trying to steal your spotlight."
Yami lifted his eyes.
"Too noisy."
His red eyes, gentle only a moment ago, turned cold.
He did not look at the incoming meteorite.
He did not look at Bayer.
His right hand simply closed around the black hilt at his waist.
Clang.
The sound of Shiranui leaving its sheath rang through the room.
Clear.
Sharp.
Impossible to ignore.
In the next breath, Yami drew his blade.
Dark red light bloomed in the ruined apartment.
The pitch-black blade seemed to ignite as Yami's breathing reached its peak. A red glow ran along the edge, bright and dense, like molten sunlight flowing through steel.
The temperature rose at once.
Riko felt the air sting in her throat.
"Sun Breathing, First Form."
Yami's voice was quiet.
He swung the blade upward in a clean, almost casual motion.
"Circle Dance."
A circular arc of fire exploded into the night.
It rose like a newborn sun, cutting through the darkness with terrifying speed. Bayer's pupils shrank, but by the time his mind registered the slash, it had already reached him.
The flaming arc met the falling meteorite.
There was no dramatic struggle.
No clash.
No resistance.
The mass of concrete and steel split cleanly in two.
The cut surface glowed red, smooth as polished glass, crystallized by the heat before the fragments even had time to fall apart.
Bayer's smile vanished.
"What?"
The slash continued.
It passed through the severed meteorite and rushed straight toward him.
"No! Impossible!"
Bayer poured Cursed Energy into a defensive barrier, forcing every ounce of his technique into the space before him.
It did not matter.
The red light cut through his barrier.
It cut through his technique.
It cut through the custom combat suit he had been so proud of.
"Aaaaaah!"
Bayer's scream ripped through the air as he was launched backward like a broken kite. His body slammed into the wall of the opposite building hard enough to crater the concrete, then fell from sight.
Kekun, who had been hovering behind him, lost every trace of composure.
He turned to flee.
A second later, the residual heat from the slash reached him.
Bang!
His body burst apart in midair, reduced to charred blood mist before he could make a sound.
One slash.
That was all it took.
Q's strongest combat force, the group that had given the Jujutsu World no small amount of trouble, was broken in a single breath.
The room fell silent.
The curtains fluttered in the wind coming through the shattered window.
Riko and Kuroi stared at Yami's back, unable to speak.
Geto swallowed, his eyes fixed on Shiranui.
He knew Yami was strong. He had seen more than enough proof of that already. Even so, witnessing such clean, overwhelming violence up close still sent a chill through him.
It was not Cursed Energy.
It was not a Cursed Technique.
It was the pure result of a human body, a blade, and swordsmanship pushed to an absurd extreme.
"Too weak."
Yami slowly sheathed Shiranui.
The moment the blade returned to its scabbard, the oppressive heat in the room faded.
He did not look tired. His breathing had not even changed.
"It didn't even count as a warm-up."
Gojo was the first to recover.
"Hey, hey, hey! Instructor Yami, that's not fair!"
He pointed at the ruined window in outrage.
"I was planning to play around with the crown guy for a bit. You one-shot him before I even got started!"
Then he clicked his tongue, looking genuinely dissatisfied.
"You left me no sense of participation."
Yami gave him a flat glance.
He knew this was only the appetizer.
The truly dangerous enemy was not someone who made a flashy entrance and shouted threats from the sky.
It was the man hiding in the dark, waiting for the one moment when everyone let their guard down.
Yami turned toward the city beyond the window.
Somewhere out there, an obscure gaze was fixed on them.
It was hidden well.
Almost too well.
But it was there.
Calm nights like this never stayed calm for long.
"Clean up," Yami said, turning back to Riko. "We're leaving."
