★ Santosh yadav ★

01. The only woman in the world who has scared Mount Everest twice was born in society where the birth of a sun was regarded as a blessing, and a daughter, thought not considered a curse, was not generally welcome. Well her mother was expecting Santosh, a travelling 'holy man', giving her his blessing, assumed that he wanted son.

But , to everyone's surprise , the unborn childs grandmother, who was standing close by, told me that they did not want a son. The 'holy man' was also surprised ! Nevertheless, he gave the requested blessings... And has destiny would have it , the blessing seemed work. Santosh was born this 6th child enough family with five sons, a sister to five brothers. She want bone in a small village of Joniyawas of Rewari district in Haryana.

02. Given us name Santosh when means contentment. But Santosh was not always content with her place in a traditional way of life. She began living life on her on terms from the start. Where other girls wore traditional Indian dresses, Santosh Preferred shorts. Looking back, she says now, " form the very beginning I was quit determined that if I chose a correct and rational path, The other around me had to change, not me."

03. Santosh's parents were affluent landowners who could afford to send their children's to the better School, event to the country capital, New Delhi, which was quite close by. But, Hindi line with the prevailing custom in the family, Santosh has to make do with a local village school. So, decided to fight the system of our own quite way when the right moment achieved. And the right moments come when she turned sixteen. At sixteen, most of the girl in hard village used to get married. Santosh was also under pressure for her parents to do the same.

04. A marriage has early as that was the last thing on her mind. She threatened her parents dead se a would never marriage if she did not get a proper education. She left home and go herself in a enrolled in a school in Delhi. When her parents refused to pay her educations, she politely informed them to her plans to earn money by working part time to a pay her school fees. Her parents then agree to pay for her education.

05. Washing always to study "a bite more" and with her father slowly getting used to her urge for more education. Santosh passed to High School examination and went to Jaipur. She joined maharani college and got a room in Kasturba hostel. Santosh remembers, " Kasturba hostel faced the Aravali hills. I used to watch village from from my room, going up the hill and suddenly vanishing after a while. One day I decided to check its out myself. I found nobody expect a few mountaineers. I asked if I could join them. To my pleasant surprise, the answered in the affirmative and motivated me to take to climbing."

06. Then there was no looking back for the determind young girl. She saved money and enrolled in a course at Uttarkashi's Nehru institute was mountaineering. "My College semester in Jaipur was to end in April but it Indian on the 19th may. And I was supposed to be in a Uttarkashi on the twenty first. So, I did not go back home; instead, I headed straight of the training. I had to write a letter of apology to my father without whose permission. I had good myself unrolled in Uttarkashi. "

07. Thereafter, Santosh want on an expedition every year. Her climbing skill matured rapidly. Also, cwed remarkable resistance to cold and the altitude. Equipped with an iron will, physical endurance and an amazing mental toughness, She proved herself repeatedly. The culmination of her hard work and sincerity come in 1992. Just 4 year after see had shyly asked the Aravali mountains if she could join them. At barely 20 year of age, Santosh Yadav scratch Mount Everest, becoming the youngest woman in the world to achieve the feat. If a climbing skill, physical fitness, and mental strength impressed her senior, her concern what other and desire to work together with them found had a special place in the hearts of fellow climbing.

08. During in 1992 Everest mission. Santosh Yadav provided a special care of the climbing who lay dying add the South col. She was unfortunately unsuccessful in saving him. 09. Within 12 months, Santosh found herself a member of Indo - Nepalese womens expedition that invited her to join them.
