Chapter 1 - The dead typing

Chapter 1: "3:07am... My phone vibrated. I thought it was just another random notification... But the moment I looked at the screen, my heart stopped."

A name flashed.

AYAAN.

My fingers went cold.

"That's...not possible,"I whispered under my breath.

Ayaan...

The person who had dead three years ago.

My heart started pounding so hard it felt like it would break out of my chest. The room was completely dark, except for the faint glow of my phone lighting up my face.

I squeezed my eyes shut for a second...then opened them again

The name was still there.

Ayaan calling...

"This had to be prank..."I muttered, trying to convince myself, but deep down, I already knew--- this wasn't normal.

With trembling hands,I cut the call.

"Just ignore it... Everything's fine..."

I whispered, placing the phone beside me.

But barely 2 seconds later---

💬 Message received

My breath hitched.

Slowly... I picked up my phone and unlocked it.

The message was from Ayaan's number.

"Why did you cut the call?"

My fingers froze.

"Who...is this?" I whispered.

I quickly opened the chat.

Everything was the same.

same number. Same old messages. Nothing had changed.

The last message was still the one I had sent 3 years ago---

"Take care..."

There was never a reply.

Because that night...

Ayaan died in an accident.

I tightened my grip on the phone.

"This is some kind of sick joke..."I said, fear and anger mixing inside me.

I typed---

"Who are you?"

Then...

I saw it.

Typing...

My heart skipped a beat.

That tiny word on the screen suddenly felt terrifying.

As if someone was sitting in front of me... replying.

But that someone...

Was supposed to be dead.

A message poped up---

"Did you really forget?"

My throat went dry.

"Forget what...?"I typed slowly.

Again.

Typing...

Every second felt like a minute.

Then the reply came---

"What happened that night?"

My heart slammed against my ribs.

That night...

I immediately put my phone down.

"No... This is nonsense!"I said, shaking my head.

But my mind had already gone back.

Back to that night.

🌑 Flashback

Ayaan and I were best friends.

We did everything together. Shared everything.

That night, we were coming from a party.

It was late. The road was almost empty.

Ayaan was driving.

"You know, you are never serious about anything," he said with a laugh.

"And you over think everything,"I replied.

Everything was normal...

Until---

💥 A truck sudden appeared in front of us.

Ayan slammed the brakes.

The car lost control.

Everything started spinning.

And then---

Darkness.

🌑 present

I gasped and open my eyes.

My breathing was uneven.

My phone vibrated again.

💬 Message received

With shaking hands, I looked at the screen---

"Remember now?"

My fingers trembled

"This...this isn't real..."I whispered.

I typed---

"You are not Ayaan."

Typing...

Then the reply came---

"Running away from the truth?"

I clenched my jaw.

"I know the truth... You are dead!"I typed quickly.

This time the reply came instantly.

"Are you sure?"

My heart stopped.

What does that mean?

Suddenly, the lights in my room began to flicker.

On...off...on...off...

"What is happening?"I whispered, panic rising in my chest.

My phone vibrated again.

"I came back..."

My throat felt dry.

"Why?" I typed, barely able to breathe.

A few seconds of silence.

Then---

"Because that night... I was not the only one who dead."

My phone almost slipped in my hands.

"What... are you saying?"I whispered in shock.

I quickly typed---

"What do you mean?"

Typing

Typing

Typing

It felt like whoever was on the other side was enjoying this... Making me wait.

Then---

"You were there two."

My heart raced.

"Of course, I was there! I survived!" I typed.

This time, the reply took longer.

Then---

"Did you?"

My breath caught.

A strange coldness spread through my body.

It felt like someone had just placed a hand on my shoulders.

Slowly... I turned around.

No one.

The room was emp empty.

But the feeling...

It was still there.

My phone vibrated again.

"If you survived... then why don't you the hospital's final report?"

My mind went blank.

Hospital?

Report?

Why... can't I remember anything?

"What are you trying to say?"I typed, fear creeping into every word.

The reply came---

"You don't know the truth."

Tears filled my eyes.

"Stop..."I whispered.

But the messages didn't stop.

"That night... I wasn't the only one who dead."

My heart pounded louder.

"The truth is..."

Again-

Typing...

My breathing grew faster.

Every seconds felt unbearable.

And then---

💥The message appeared :

"You died that night too."

My phone slipped from my hands.

The room fell completely silent.

Slowly... I looked at my hands.

They looked normal.

I felt normal.

So how could I --

"This is lie..."I whispered.

But deep inside...a voice answered--

"What if it's not?"

My phone lay on the floor...

The screen still glowing...

Another message appeared---

"If you are alive..."

"Then who are you?"
