Chapter 32 - Unfamiliar Silence

Darkness faded slowly.

Not all at once—

But in fragments.

Seo Yoon stirred.

Her head felt heavy. Her body… worse. Every movement carried a dull ache, like the weight she had been carrying hadn't disappeared—just settled deeper.

For a moment, she didn't move.

Didn't open her eyes.

Just… listened.

Silence.

Not the empty kind.

The controlled kind.

Her eyes opened.

The ceiling above her was familiar.

Her room.

Her mansion.

She exhaled softly.

So she made it home.

But then—

Her gaze shifted.

And froze.

He was there.

Sang-Hyun sat across the room, one leg crossed over the other, posture relaxed—but his presence still filled the space completely.

Watching.

Waiting.

"You're awake."

His voice was calm. Low.

Like nothing had happened.

Seo Yoon stared at him for a second longer than necessary.

Then slowly pushed herself up.

Her body protested immediately.

She ignored it.

"Get out."

Her voice was hoarse—but steady.

Sang-Hyun didn't move.

"You collapsed," he said instead.

"I said—get out."

A pause.

But this time, his gaze sharpened slightly.

"And walk away?"

Seo Yoon let out a quiet, tired laugh.

"There's the problem," she said, her eyes cold now.

"You think you get to stay."

Silence stretched between them.

Heavy.

Sang-Hyun stood.

Slowly.

Deliberately.

For a second, it felt like he might actually leave.

But he didn't.

"You haven't eaten," he said.

Seo Yoon's expression didn't change.

But her patience snapped thinner.

"That's none of your concern."

"And your condition?"

"Also none of your concern."

Another pause.

Then, for the first time—

Sang-Hyun stepped closer.

Seo Yoon's eyes narrowed immediately.

"Don't."

But he stopped just a step away.

Close enough to see the exhaustion she was trying to hide.

Close enough to notice the slight tremor in her hand.

"You're not as fine as you pretend to be," he said quietly.

Something in her expression flickered.

Gone just as quickly.

"And you're not as untouchable as you think you are."

The words hit.

Not loudly.

But precisely.

Sang-Hyun didn't respond immediately.

Because she wasn't wrong.

Seo Yoon looked away first, swinging her legs off the bed despite the dizziness that followed.

"I don't need help," she said.

Her steps were unsteady.

Just slightly.

But noticeable.

Before she could take another step—

Her balance shifted.

And this time—

Sang-Hyun caught her wrist.

Not forcefully.

Not gently either.

Just enough.

"Let go."

"No."

Their eyes met again.

Closer now.

Sharper.

"I'm not one of your deals you can control," she said.

"And I'm not one of your enemies you can ignore," he replied.

Silence.

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Neither of them looked away.

Then—

Seo Yoon pulled her hand back.

Slowly.

This time, he let her.

"I don't need you," she said quietly.

Sang-Hyun watched her.

Carefully.

"I know," he replied.

A pause.

"But that doesn't mean I'll leave."

Seo Yoon's eyes hardened again.

But this time—

There was something else beneath it.

Something she didn't name.

Didn't acknowledge.

"Then you're making a mistake."

Sang-Hyun turned slightly, heading toward the door.

"Maybe," he said.

His hand paused on the handle.

"But so are you."

And then—

He left.

The room fell silent again.

Seo Yoon stood there for a long moment.

Still.

Unmoving.

Her chest tightened slightly—not from pain this time.

Something else.

Something unfamiliar.

She sat back down slowly, her gaze drifting toward the door he had just walked through.

"This is ridiculous…" she muttered.

But even as she said it—

She knew.

Things were no longer simple.

Not control.Not power.

Not even the game.

Because now—

It wasn't just about winning anymore.

And that was far more dangerous. 🔥
