With my eyes closed, I directly activated my ability. Surprisingly, it felt similar to when I used telekinesis—more like a mental ability than a physical one. That didn't bother me. It actually made sense.
My mind expanded rapidly, encompassing the entire city and far beyond. If I had to estimate, the area felt comparable to a modern mid-sized city, maybe around a million people in population.
However, the requirement of knowing the target limited my options severely. In the vast darkness of my perception, only a few lights appeared—small bright points in a black background. That was the best way I could describe it.
I quickly scanned them. There were the gamblers, the girl from earlier, and a few people I had spoken to in the city. The number was small.
But what caught my attention were the two brightest lights.
One felt cold and detached.
The other felt warm… full of love.
Who are these two? I was sure I had never met them before.
I focused on the warm one and entered immediately.
The next second, I was standing in a garden.
A very familiar garden.
It was exactly the place that had led me to Athens in the first place.
I looked around, but it was a voice behind me that drew my attention. I really needed to be more careful about people appearing behind me like that.
"How did you come here, stranger?" a female voice asked.
I turned around and looked at her carefully from head to toe. Perception of Truth confirmed it almost instantly.
Qetsiyah.
One of the most powerful witches to ever live—and the reason I came to Athens. That also answered who the other bright soul was.
Silas.
Even though I only knew them from a TV show in my previous life, it seemed Dream Walking worked perfectly on them. That was extremely useful information.
As for why she was my target, the answer was obvious: the immortality elixir. Knowledge equals power, and she was one of the greatest magical minds in this world.
She created the Other Side, the Cure, the Immortality Elixir, and she was the ancestor of the Bennett bloodline. With the creation of the Other Side, witches gained access to a new source of power—ancestral magic—something that didn't exist before.
You could say she created a new source of magic.
That alone made her worth meeting.
"Why couldn't I come, stranger?" I replied with a small smile. "This is your dream, after all."
She looked slightly stunned by my answer.
"That's impossible," she said. "There are no rituals, no spell circles, nothing. Entering dreams directly is ridiculous."
"Oh, you have no idea what is possible," I told her calmly. No matter how vast her knowledge was, she was still human. And human knowledge, no matter how advanced, was never omniscient.
"Then tell me," she said.
"I will," I replied. "But I didn't expect to meet you here. This is a pleasant surprise for me."
"Why?" she asked immediately. "If that's why you came, then give up. I have a fiancé."
I was slightly stunned for a moment, then immediately understood. She thought I was courting her.
"I didn't mean it like that," I said with a wry smile.
"Then what did you mean?" she asked.
"I meant that, as you can obviously see, I'm not normal. And I'm interested in something you have."
She narrowed her eyes. "You're not a witch. So what are you? And what do I have that someone like you would want?"
"Michael," I said. "That is my name."
"Qetsiyah."
"I know," I replied.
She rolled her eyes.
"I serve God, Qetsiyah," I said. "And my interest right now is what you are going to create—the immortality spell."
She froze.
In this era, people were religious—but saying you served God directly was different. That was like claiming to be something out of myth.
"God?" she asked. "You serve God? Prove it."
"Entering your dream isn't enough proof?"
"…Not enough," she said after a moment.
"And my immortality spell?" she asked quietly. "Are you here to stop it?"
"No," I said. "I can prove who I am slowly. I can even help you with it. I won't stop you. But I must warn you—nature demands balance, and you will pay a price you are not prepared for."
She went silent. As a servant of nature, she understood very well what happens when balance is broken.
"I know," she said. "But I am ready. Silas and I promised to be together forever. If this can be done… then I will do it. But if you're not here to stop me, why are you here? Do you need immortality too?"
"No," I said honestly. "I am already immortal. I'm here because I want to learn."
She stared at me. "Impossible. There are no spells, no balance has been broken, so how are you immortal?"
"I told you," I said calmly. "I serve God. My species is called angels."
"Which god?" she asked immediately. "Zeus? And what is an angel?"
"No," I said. "But that doesn't matter right now. What matters is this: teach me magic. We don't even have to meet in the real world. We can meet here, in dreams, and slowly build trust. What do you think?"
"And for the record," I added, "I don't need the immortality spell."
She went completely silent for a long time.
Right before she woke up, she agreed.
She would meet me here again and teach me magic—though with great suspicion. It took a lot of explaining to convince her that I was "newly created" and didn't understand magic, but in my opinion, the conversation went very well.
I woke up in my bed in a very good mood.
One of the most powerful witches in history was going to be my teacher, and I would also get the chance to observe the creation of the true immortality spell.
This was perfect.
And I was right—my panel had changed.
