Chapter 1 - Ashes Of The Fallen Kingdom

Chapter 1:The Boy Who Survived the Fire

Kael did not remember when the fire began—only that it was wrong. The sky had turned black without warning, not with clouds, but with something far more unnatural. Flames, dark as shadows, spread across the heavens like a living storm. He had been in the courtyard then, nothing more than a servant boy carrying a bucket of water, when the first wave descended. It made no sound. No roar, no crackle—just a silent, creeping destruction that swallowed everything it touched. Towers crumbled without resistance, stone turning to ash as if it had never existed. People ran, mouths open in screams Kael could not hear. The world had become silent, suffocating, as the black fire devoured the kingdom of Eryndor whole. He remembered dropping the bucket. He remembered trying to run. And then—nothing.

When Kael opened his eyes, the world was already gone. He gasped sharply, lungs burning as ash-filled air rushed into his chest. His body jerked upright, coughing violently as dust clung to his throat and skin. The sky above him was dull and lifeless, as if color itself had died. Slowly, he stood, his legs trembling beneath him. The castle—once grand and untouchable—was now nothing but ruins. Broken stone. Collapsed walls. Endless ash.

"No…" his voice cracked. "This isn't real…"

He ran through what remained of the kingdom, calling out for anyone—guards, servants, anyone at all. But no one answered. There were no bodies. No blood. Just emptiness, like the entire kingdom had been erased.

Then the pain began.

It burned deep inside his chest. Kael fell to his knees, clutching his shirt as something twisted beneath his skin. With shaking hands, he tore it open—and froze. Black flames flickered across his chest, moving like living shadows. They didn't burn him, but he could feel them… breathing.

"What is this…?"

The flames spread down his arm. Panicking, Kael tried to wipe them away—but they surged instead. A violent burst of black fire exploded from his hand, shattering the stone wall beside him into pieces.

Kael stared in horror. "I… did that…?"

The flames slowly faded, retreating back into his body. Silence returned.

Then, faintly—

"You survived…"

Kael's head snapped up. "Who's there?!"

No answer came.

Only the ruins… and the growing realization that whatever destroyed the kingdom… was now inside him.

Chapter 2: Ashes That Still Burn

Kael did not leave the ruins immediately. He couldn't. Every step felt like betrayal, like he was abandoning the only life he had ever known. But the silence became unbearable. Days seemed to pass without change. No hunger. No thirst. Just the same gray sky and endless ash.

And the flames.

They appeared more often now. At first, only when he panicked. Then when he focused. Slowly, Kael began to realize something terrifying—

He could control them.

A small flicker danced in his palm as he stared at it, his expression conflicted. "This power… it listens to me…"

But that only made it worse.

Because if the fire obeyed him…

Then what did that make him?

As Kael stood at the edge of the ruined kingdom, preparing to step into the unknown, a sharp sound cut through the silence.

Crunch.

He froze.

Footsteps.

Slow. Deliberate.

Kael turned, heart pounding. From the distant ash-covered path, a figure emerged—cloaked, face hidden beneath a dark hood.

"You shouldn't be alive," the figure said coldly.

Kael's breath hitched. "Who are you?"

The figure ignored the question. "The fire doesn't leave survivors."

Kael's fists clenched. "I didn't ask for this!"

The cloaked figure tilted their head slightly. "No… but you were chosen."

Before Kael could react, the stranger raised a hand—and the air twisted violently.

Something was very wrong.

Chapter 3:The Hunter of Ash

The moment the figure moved, Kael felt it—danger.

He barely had time to react before a sharp force slammed into him, throwing him across the ground. He rolled through ash and debris, pain exploding through his body.

"Too slow," the cloaked figure said, stepping forward.

Kael struggled to stand. "What do you want from me?!"

"To confirm something," the figure replied.

They raised their hand again. The air distorted, compressing like invisible pressure crushing everything in its path. Kael's chest tightened—he couldn't breathe.

Instinct took over.

The black flames erupted.

They burst from his body violently, pushing back the invisible force. The ground cracked beneath him as dark fire spiraled outward.

For the first time, the cloaked figure stepped back.

"…So it's true," they murmured.

Kael's eyes widened. "Stay away from me!"

The flames roared stronger, responding to his fear, his anger—his confusion.

"You don't understand what you are," the figure said quietly.

"Then tell me!" Kael shouted.

A pause.

Then—

"You are not a survivor."

The figure lowered their hood slightly,

revealing cold, emotionless eyes.

"You are the source."

Chapter 4: What the Fire Knows

Kael's mind went blank.

"The source…?" he repeated.

The cloaked figure nodded. "The black flame is not destruction. It is correction."

Kael shook his head. "That doesn't make any sense!"

"Reality breaks," the figure continued. "When it does, something must erase the error."

Kael's heart pounded harder. "You're saying… my kingdom was an error?!"

"I'm saying it was removed."

The words hit harder than any attack.

"No…" Kael stepped back. "You're lying."

But deep down…

The flames reacted.

They pulsed.

As if they recognized the truth.

"You were meant to disappear with it," the figure said. "But something went wrong."

Kael gritted his teeth. "Then why am I still here?!"

For the first time, the cloaked figure hesitated.

"…That is what I came to find out."

Silence fell.

Then the voice returned again—clearer this time.

"Not a mistake…"

Kael froze.

"…a choice."

Chapter 5:The World Beyond the Ashes

The ground trembled.

The black flames surged wildly around Kael, no longer calm, no longer controlled. They twisted violently, reacting to the voice that echoed through his mind.

"Who are you?!" Kael shouted.

No answer.

But the world responded.

Far beyond the ruins, something awakened.

The cloaked figure stepped back, tension in their stance. "This is bad…"

"What's happening?!" Kael demanded.

"You've been noticed."

Kael's stomach dropped. "By what?"

The figure looked toward the distant horizon, where the sky itself seemed to crack.

"By the ones who ended your kingdom."

Silence fell again.

Heavy.

Terrifying.

Kael clenched his fists, black fire flickering around them.

"I don't care who they are," he said, his voice no longer trembling. "If they did this… if they took everything from me…"

The flames burned brighter.

"Then I'll find them."

The wind howled for the first time since the fall.

"And I'll make them answer."

Far away, beyond what remained of the world…

Something watched.

And this time—

It was not smiling.
