Chapter 25 - chaos

Even in his sleep, Aiden's body stirred. But this time, the movement was different—subtle at first, a pulse running through him like a heartbeat that resonated beyond the physical. The silver-haired woman appeared in the dream, eyes widening as she felt it.

"Something… is coming," she whispered, voice trembling with awe and unease. "Not just him… something in him. Something old. Too old."

The five girls, scattered across visions of different worlds and times, felt it too. The bonds they shared with him shivered as if pulled by an invisible thread of raw power. Each sensed the ancient rhythm awakening within him—an energy that had slumbered for centuries, hidden beneath mortal skin.

The princess, pacing the chamber outside his room, paused mid-step. Her violet eyes glimmered with recognition—not just of Aiden stirring, but of the force his awakening carried. The hair on her arms rose, a subtle hum vibrating in the air that only those attuned to magic could feel.

Even the gods themselves, perched in realms of light and shadow beyond mortal comprehension, faltered. Their voices, usually unwavering, trembled as one whispered to the others:

"This… is impossible. It should not be waking."

"It's him," another said, disbelief and caution mingling. "Aiden. The one we thought was just mortal… the one who has been carried across lifetimes."

"But… that energy…" a third whispered. "It predates even our own dominion. It's… ancient. Dangerous. Unbound."

And then, the last flicker of hesitation passed as the reality of the situation crystallized: the thing even the gods feared—the primal, hidden force within Aiden—was awakening.

In the chamber, Aiden's chest rose sharply, his eyelids fluttering as if resisting some immense barrier. Power poured from him in waves, subtle at first, a pulse that rattled the floor, the walls, and the air itself. Candles trembled; threads of light bent toward him. The dream realm flickered alongside the waking world as visions of the teacher and the five girls merged with his consciousness, their voices and presences entwined.

The teacher's hand hovered over him in the vision, almost touching his face, trembling with reverence. "He is… him. The one we feared. The one we waited for."

The five girls appeared, each radiating concern, awe, and longing. Their memories of past lives, of battles, of love, all converged on this singular point. Together, they felt it: a power that could shake worlds, bend time, and defy even the gods themselves.

The princess, at the edge of the room, could feel it radiating from him even through closed doors. Her heart raced—not just with fear, but with fierce determination. She had seen him wounded, powerless, and yet now, even before fully waking, he was something else entirely.

Then, finally, his eyes snapped open—violet, but glowing faintly with an otherworldly light, a spark that spoke of lifetimes, of love, of rage, and of power too vast to be contained. The air vibrated with his presence. The gods flinched in their celestial thrones, the teacher's breath caught, the five girls shivered, and the princess took an instinctive step forward, sensing that this was not merely Aiden awakening.

It was Aiden as he had always been meant to be—ancient, primordial, a force woven into the threads of reality, feared across time, feared even by the divine.

And the world, both mortal and immortal, seemed to hold its breath.

The glow in Aiden's eyes intensified, violet flames flickering across his irises, illuminating the chamber like twilight caught in motion. Power surged outward in waves, warping the air, making the walls shiver and the floor tremble beneath the weight of his presence.

The teacher, the five girls, and the princess rushed to him, hands glowing, their magic intertwining in a desperate attempt to stabilize him.

"Aiden… it's us," the princess called, her voice trembling yet firm. "You're awake. Let us help you!"

But the moment his gaze fell upon them, recognition did not come. There was no familiarity, no trust, no shared memory. Only confusion, and beneath it, the raw, instinctive drive of a force that had slept for centuries.

He recoiled as if struck, and the air around him rippled with violent energy. "Who… are you?" His voice was layered, deep and resonant, vibrating through the room like thunder contained in crystal. "Get out… I need… silence… I need…"

The teacher stepped forward, extending her hands. "It's me! It's us! You don't have to face this alone!"

Aiden's response was instinctive, primal. A pulse of raw force exploded outward, hurling the nearest girl backward against the wall. Books, candles, and magical wards shattered in the shockwave. The five girls struggled to stay on their feet, their magic flaring defensively, but every approach was met with another surge of violent energy.

The princess stepped closer, her violet eyes blazing. "Aiden! Stop!" she shouted, but he didn't even look at her. Every movement he made was focused inward, as if he were tearing through barriers no one else could see, breaking open some sealed chamber of his own existence.

The teacher murmured under her breath, trembling. "He doesn't remember… he doesn't remember any of us. He's… alone in this. And he's not just strong… he's everything we feared."

Another wave of power blasted the room, throwing wards aside and bending the air like water. The five girls braced themselves against the force, shouting as they tried to tether him with chains of magic, but the chains snapped before they even formed.

"Stop restraining me!" Aiden roared, voice echoing as though multiple lifetimes spoke through him at once. His body levitated above the bed, glowing with an intensity that made the candles flare and the walls crack. "I don't… know… any of you!"

The princess froze, realizing the truth: this was no longer the Aiden they knew. His mind was a blank slate, his instincts violent, his consciousness entirely consumed by the ancient force stirring within him.

The teacher swallowed hard. "We can't hold him… not like this. We need to let him focus on… himself… or he'll destroy us all."

But letting him go was impossible. They couldn't risk the power radiating outward, not while the room trembled, not while the very threads of reality seemed to ripple around him.

Aiden's violet eyes swept over them like storms over a fragile landscape, and in a blur of motion, he struck—force and energy radiating in arcs too fast for them to react. The princess dove backward, barely avoiding the strike, and one of the girls was sent flying across the chamber as a magical shield shattered.

He didn't care. He didn't recognize them. All he knew was the pulse within him, the ancient rhythm that demanded release, attention, and mastery. The room descended into chaos, the five girls, the teacher, and the princess clinging desperately to spells, wards, and each other, trying to survive while realizing—horrifyingly—that the Aiden they loved was gone, and in his place stood a force that even the gods feared.

Outside, Kaelen, sensing the surges of energy, paused mid-motion, eyes narrowing. "So… he truly has awakened," he muttered, voice calm but laced with excitement. "And he's lost… perfect. The world just became… interesting."

The chamber shook violently, air splitting with the force of Aiden's power. Spells, wards, and magical shields erupted in blinding arcs, but each attempt to contain him was met with raw, destructive energy.

"Get out of my way!" Aiden roared, violet light blazing from his eyes. "I don't… know… you! I… I need… silence!"

The princess and the girls tried desperately to restrain him, but the force was overwhelming. Candles shattered, walls cracked, and the floor trembled beneath his every movement. One of the girls cried out as a shockwave slammed her into the far wall, leaving her stunned and dazed.

Even the teacher, her silver hair glowing, could barely keep up, weaving defensive wards around herself and Aiden in a desperate attempt to survive the destructive energy that flared with every twitch of his body.

"I… I can't hold him…" she muttered, her voice tight with fear. "He doesn't even know who we are… and he wants to destroy us."

Before anyone could react further, the doors to the chamber slammed open with a gust of divine authority, and Kaelen appeared, standing calm amid the chaos. His armor gleamed, and his expression was as composed as ever—arrogance masking the knowledge of what he faced.

"So… the mortal finally awakens," Kaelen said smoothly, stepping forward. "And yet, he doesn't know the difference between friend and foe."

With a flick of his hand, he summoned a burst of radiant power and rushed toward Aiden, intent on subduing the ancient force before it could annihilate everything. But Aiden's eyes flared brighter, his body a living storm. Kaelen's first strike was repelled with a wave of raw energy, and the hero stumbled, thrown back against the stone walls as debris rained down.

"Impossible…" Kaelen muttered, staggering to his feet, but he forced a smile. "So much… power… magnificent."

Aiden surged forward, intent clear: he would kill anyone who tried to stop him. The princess screamed as she raised a magical barrier, only to feel it buckle under the sheer force of his aura. The girls and the teacher barely held their positions, but each knew that if he remembered nothing, nothing would stop him—not even Kaelen.

Yet in the chaos, Kaelen pressed on. Strike after strike, he matched Aiden's raw power with precision, forcing him to expend energy to defend rather than annihilate. For a moment, it seemed even the hero might succeed. But Aiden was not human—he was primordial, ancient, and untethered. With a violent surge of will, he broke through Kaelen's defenses, sending the hero crashing through the courtyard wall in a blinding explosion of light and dust.

Kaelen groaned, battered but alive. From the rubble, he spat a faint smile. "Impressive… truly… magnificent," he murmured, eyes glinting with a mix of respect and excitement. "Go… claim your path. But know this… I will follow."

Without another glance, Aiden lifted from the rubble, his form radiating uncontained energy. He ignored the teacher, the girls, and the princess, who could do nothing but watch in stunned silence. The moment he stepped into the void of the surrounding forests, mountains, and skies, he disappeared from the academy entirely—gone to a place no one could track, no one could reach, where he could confront the storm within himself.

The chamber was left in ruins. Candles were smashed, walls cracked, and the air still hummed with residual energy. The princess's violet eyes burned with a mixture of fear, frustration, and resolve.

"He… he's gone," whispered the teacher, silver hair glowing faintly. "And yet… he is awakening exactly as we feared… and as we hoped."

Outside the shattered doors, Kaelen recovered, brushing dust from his armor. "Interesting," he said, voice low, almost a murmur to himself. "The world will not know what it has unleashed. But I will find him… and when I do, he will either destroy everything—or become the ultimate weapon."

And as the sun set over the academy, the primordial force that was Aiden vanished into the horizon, leaving only whispers of his awakening behind—an echo of a power that even the gods feared, untethered and untamed.
