Riley's POV
"Riley, we're going to work this out together. We'll find a solution to keep you protected." Alpha's voice carries certainty, and I manage a small nod. My gaze drifts toward Elena, confusion and hurt swirling inside me. "Why didn't she tell me the truth? Why didn't she give me any warning? I would have listened to every word she said. I would have understood that the moment this necklace came off, I needed to contact her immediately so we could escape together. Maybe she'd still be breathing if she had just been honest with me."
The words come out as barely a whisper, and Caleb's arms tighten around me protectively. But when I glance up at his face, I can read the agreement written in his expression. He thinks the same thing I do. She should have trusted me with the truth.
