Riley's POV
Consciousness returns slowly as I find myself stretched across the back seat of the SUV. The world feels hazy, like I'm swimming up from the depths of an ocean.
When I attempt to push myself upright, every muscle in my body screams in protest. The pain is overwhelming, radiating through my limbs like fire. Thank God for Freya and Theo. The thought of facing this alone, of my newborns crying helplessly while I lay unconscious, sends a chill through my already aching bones.
Movement from the front seat catches my attention, and suddenly Theo's concerned face appears above me, his expression soft with relief.
"You were incredible, Riley. Both babies are healthy and resting peacefully." His voice is gentle as he brushes my tangled hair away from my face. "We're staying mobile to avoid detection. Your father might have sensed their presence before we could get the protective bracelets on them."
