Chapter 1 - Jujutsu Kaisen: Echoes of the Abyss

The sky above Tokyo was wrong.

It wasn't just the color—a dull, bruised purple pressing down on the city—but the weight of it. Like something unseen was leaning over the world, breathing slowly, watching.

Yuji Itadori felt it before he saw anything.

"Hey…" he muttered, stopping mid-step outside the convenience store. The plastic bag in his hand rustled as his grip tightened. "You feel that?"

Beside him, Megumi Fushiguro didn't answer immediately. His eyes were already scanning the street, sharp and alert.

"…Yeah," Megumi said quietly. "It's not normal. Even for a curse."

Nobara Kugisaki stepped out behind them, sipping her drink. "If this is another one of your 'weird feelings' that turns out to be a grade four—"

She stopped.

Because now she felt it too.

The air had thickened. Sound seemed dampened, like the city had been wrapped in cloth. Even the distant traffic noise felt muffled.

"…Okay," Nobara said, lowering her drink. "That's not normal."

A shadow flickered across the pavement.

Not from above.

From nowhere.

Megumi's hand moved instantly. "Get ready."

Before he could summon his shikigami, the ground cracked.

Not shattered—peeled.

Like reality itself was being torn open.

From the rupture, something began to crawl out.

The Curse That Shouldn't ExistAt first glance, it looked human.

Then it kept unfolding.

Limbs stretched too long, joints bending the wrong way. Its face split into multiple layers, each one whispering, muttering, crying.

"…help… me…"

"…too many…"

"…make it stop…"

Yuji's jaw clenched. "What the hell is that…?"

Megumi's voice was tight. "I don't know. But it's not a standard curse."

The thing's body shimmered, as if it couldn't decide what shape to hold.

And then it looked at them.

All its faces aligned for a single moment.

And smiled.

The pressure exploded.

Yuji staggered. "Ghh—!"

It wasn't just cursed energy.

It was… chaotic.

Unstable.

Like multiple curses had been forced into one body and were fighting for control.

Nobara steadied herself. "This is disgusting."

Megumi's expression darkened. "No… it's worse than that."

The creature spoke again.

This time, clearly.

"You…"

Its voice layered, dozens speaking at once.

"…are… incomplete…"

Then it lunged.

Clash of ChaosYuji moved first.

"Divergent Fist!"

His punch landed square in the creature's torso—

—but instead of impact, his fist sank halfway through it.

"What—?!"

The delayed cursed energy burst still triggered—

—but it exploded in three different directions, as if the curse had split the force itself.

Yuji was thrown back.

"Yuji!" Nobara shouted.

Megumi reacted instantly. "Divine Dogs!"

The twin shikigami leapt forward, claws tearing into the creature—

—but their attacks passed through parts of its body while striking others.

The creature laughed.

Its body twisted, reforming mid-attack, one arm stretching unnaturally toward Megumi—

"Watch out!" Nobara yelled.

Too late.

The arm struck.

Megumi blocked, but the force sent him skidding across the pavement.

"…This thing…" he muttered, pushing himself up. "…it's phasing its form."

Nobara clicked her tongue. "So we just hit it harder."

She pulled out her hammer and nails.

"Straw Doll Technique!"

A nail flew—

—but instead of embedding, it stopped midair.

Like it had hit an invisible wall.

"What?!" Nobara's eyes widened.

The creature tilted its head.

"You… don't understand…"

Its body split briefly into overlapping forms.

"…we are many…"

The air warped again.

And suddenly—

There were three of it.

A Losing BattleYuji wiped blood from his lip. "You've got to be kidding me."

Megumi's mind raced. It's not multiplying… it's dividing its existence.

Each version felt real.

Each radiated cursed energy.

Nobara's voice cut through the tension. "Which one's the real one?!"

Megumi shook his head. "All of them."

The three curses attacked simultaneously.

Yuji blocked one—

Megumi summoned Nue to counter another—

Nobara barely dodged the third—

—but they were being overwhelmed.

Yuji gritted his teeth. This isn't like anything we've fought before.

Inside him—

Something stirred.

"Well… well…"

A familiar voice echoed in his mind.

"Looks like you're in trouble again."

Yuji clenched his fist. "Not now."

"Why not?" Sukuna's voice purred. "You'll die at this rate."

Outside, Yuji barely avoided a strike that shattered the pavement behind him.

Megumi shouted, "Yuji, focus!"

But Yuji's mind was already slipping inward.

The King's InterestIn the darkness within—

Sukuna sat upon his throne of bones, watching.

Multiple eyes opened across his body, amused.

"That thing…" he mused. "…is interesting."

Yuji snapped, "You're not taking over."

Sukuna smirked. "Relax. I'm not interested in your body right now."

He leaned forward slightly.

"But that curse… it shouldn't exist."

Yuji hesitated. "What do you mean?"

Sukuna's grin widened.

"It's not a natural curse. It's made."

Outside—

Yuji's eyes snapped open.

Turning Point"Megumi!" Yuji shouted. "It's artificial!"

Megumi froze for a split second. "What?"

"It's not one curse—it's a bunch forced together!"

Megumi's eyes narrowed. "Then there has to be a core."

Nobara smirked. "Finally, something we can work with."

The three regrouped quickly.

Megumi formed a hand sign. "We need to force it to stabilize."

Yuji cracked his knuckles. "Got it."

Nobara spun a nail between her fingers. "Let's make it hurt."

The creature shrieked—

All three bodies merging and splitting erratically.

"YOU… WILL… JOIN US—!"

Yuji charged.

This time—

He didn't hold back.

Something AwakensAs Yuji closed the distance, something felt different.

The air shifted.

Not from the curse—

From him.

His cursed energy flared—

—but it wasn't just raw power.

It was… resonating.

For a brief moment—

The chaotic energy of the curse aligned.

Stabilized.

Megumi's eyes widened. "Now!"

"Divergent Fist!"

This time—

The punch connected.

Fully.

The creature screamed as all three forms snapped into one—

A single body—

And at its center—

A writhing core of condensed cursed energy.

Nobara didn't hesitate.

"Got you."

Her nail flew—

Straight into the core.

"Resonance."

The explosion echoed through the street.

The creature froze.

Cracked.

And then—

Shattered.

AftermathSilence returned.

The sky slowly regained its normal color.

Yuji exhaled heavily. "That was… insane."

Nobara brushed dust off her uniform. "I'm counting that as a win."

Megumi wasn't relaxed.

Not even close.

"…No," he said quietly.

Yuji looked at him. "What?"

Megumi stared at where the curse had been.

"That thing wasn't random."

A faint residue of cursed energy lingered.

Different.

Organized.

Intentional.

"…Someone made it."

Yuji's stomach tightened. "You mean—"

Megumi nodded.

"Yeah."

From the shadows of a nearby rooftop—

A figure watched.

Smiling.

"…Interesting," the stranger whispered. "So they survived."

Their eyes glowed faintly.

"Let's see how far they can go."

To be continued…
