Chapter 10 - CHAPTER 10 ~ LEVERAGE

Lucifer's POV

The room shifted the moment I finished speaking... Not visibly but I saw that tiny crack in him.

That split-second where confidence hesitated… and reality started creeping in.

Sylvester's smile died immediately.

"What do you mean?" he asked, voice not as steady as before.

Good... That was the first step.

Red stepped forward slightly beside me, his presence heavy, deliberate. "You will soon find out."

Sylvester scoffed, trying to recover, trying to pull that mask back on. "I am a cop," he said, straighter now, firmer. "You can't do anything to me."

And that? That actually made me laugh.

I tilted my head, taking a step closer, heels clicking softly against the floor like a countdown he didn't even realize had started.

"That's where you are wrong," I said, voice smooth but cutting. "And it's actually proof that you know nothing about me. If you did, you will know I don't give a shit that you are a fucking cop... I can do anything I want to do and frankly, nothing will happen."

His jaw tightened.

"You are bluffing," he said.

I smiled faintly. "I wish I was."

Silence filled the room. Then I added, almost casually...

"Although… you can call it your lucky day. I have decided not to kill you."

I mean for something that's so confident and bold enough to challenge me, killing him would be a total waste.

I watched as relief washed over him... Then suddenly he became confused and uncertain. I was glad he got the message because let's face it, something's are worse than death... Death was simple, predictable and merciful.

But when you take death off the table? That's when people start to panic.

Sylvester smirked, trying... to regain control. "I knew you didn't have it in you to kill a cop."

Wrong move... Because before I could even dignify his stupidity with a response... Crack, Red's hand connected with his face so hard the sound echoed through the room.

Sylvester staggered slightly, blood instantly spilling from his lip and nose.

"What the fuck...!" he snapped, anger flashing now.

Red stepped closer, eyes cold.

"You are not above killing," he said quietly. "And if you find out what she has planned for you…"

He leaned in just enough for the weight of his words to settle.

"…you will wish she killed you instead."

Silence dropped like a guillotine.

Sylvester blinked, breathing heavier now, his confidence slipping further.

"What… what do you mean?" he asked.

I stepped forward again, closing the distance and owning the space.

"I hate repeating myself," I said, voice low, precise. "So listen very carefully."

My gaze locked onto his. "From now on… you are mine."

His brows furrowed, obviously confused.

"You are now my eyes in the police force," I continued. "You will tell me everything. Their moves, their plans, who sent you and everything they have on me."

The room went still again just before he finally spoke.

"That's a joke, right?" he said, letting out a short, disbelieving laugh.

I didn't smile, didn't blink. "Do I look like I crack dry jokes?"

That shut him up for half a second. Then he shook his head, stubbornness creeping back in.

"Then just kill me," he said. "Because I will only work for you over my dead body."

Red let out a quiet chuckle beside me. "Funny you said that."

Sylvester's eyes flicked between us, confusion turning into unease.

I stepped even closer, close enough for him to feel the weight of my words.

"You will work for me whether you like it or not," I said softly. "Like I said… you are my fucking bitch now."

His expression hardened.

"Or what?" he challenged.

There it was, the last piece of resistance... The illusion of control.

I tilted my head slightly, then I gave him a cruel smile.

"Or…" I said slowly, letting every word sink in, "Elena... your wife and your sweet son, Willy… will pay for your audacity."

The words landed exactly how I wanted them to. Sharp and precise.

"How dare you follow me around?" I added, voice dropping.

For the first time, real emotion flickered in his eyes... Anger, fear and protectiveness all tangled together but instead of breaking... He laughed.

A sharp, disbelieving laugh.

"You know nothing about my family," he said, shaking his head. "They are out of reach. You think I would do this if my family could be used against me?"

I didn't argue, didn't even explain. I just looked at Red and gave him a simple nod.

That was all he needed.

Red stepped forward, pulling out his phone.

Sylvester watched him, confusion flickering again as Red turned the screen toward him and everything changed.

I didn't need to look, I already knew what was on it but I watched Sylvester instead... I saw the moment it hit and his eyes widened. His breathing stopped for half a second and his entire body went rigid.

It was a video if my men in his so called hide out with his wife and son.

"No…" he whispered.

There it was, reality.

"Please…" his voice cracked now, completely different from before. "You can't do this… please…"

I stood there, watching him unravel, watching control slip through his fingers.

"Now you know," I said calmly, "I didn't come here to play."

His eyes sapped to mine, desperate, broken and terrified.

"So do exactly what I said," I continued. "And your wife and son… will mostly stay out of danger."

Not safe. Just… less in danger because that's how leverage works.

After that, I didn't wait for a response... I turned around and walked out but behind me, I heard it.

His desperate voice, pleading. "Please! Don't touch my family... I will do anything!"

Of course you will... They always come around.

Red stayed behind, finishing it and locking it in because fear alone wasn't enough.

"Good," I heard him say as I stepped outside. "First assignment... keep your mouth shut."

"If you make any reports at work… you know what will happen."

There was a brief pause.

"Stay close to your phone and await further instructions."

Sylvester's voice came again, weaker now. "But… you don't have my number..."

Red let out a dry laugh. "Seriously? We know where you hid your family… and you are worried about your number?"

I almost laughed at his silliness.

"We are watching your every move. Do anything stupid… and you will regret it."

Soon I heard footsteps and then Red joined me outside just as the door shut and we both made our way to the car.

He started the engine and drive off... And just like that, Sylvester was no longer a threat.

He was an asset.

"Perfect." I whispered as I leaned back into the seat, eyes forward, mind already moving past him.

This was just step one... Sylvester was a door and I intended to kick it wide open.

"Watch that motherfucker like a hawk," I said after a moment. "I want no mistakes."

Red nodded once.

"Say less," he replied. "I got it."

Good because this was just the beginning... The cops wanted to see me behind bars but I?

I plan to tear them down, ruin them completely and I just got my fucking way in.

I mean its fucking laughable that Sylvester thought he was playing a game. He thought he was hunting me but now?

Now he understood that he was never the hunter... He was a damn bait and whoever sent him?

Whoever thought they could reach into my world and walk away clean?

They were next.
