Xavier's POV
I stared him dead in the eye, watching every twitch, every swallow, and every nervous shift of his shoulders.
"Look, man... Detective, whatever." He swallowed hard as he stared at me. "It was just a Lexus. The door was unlocked and I didn't even get the engine started before the cops showed up. It's a property crime."
I leaned back in my chair. "I don't give a damn about the Lexus, Leo."
I slid a high-resolution forensic photograph out of the folder. It showed a sleek, matte-black semi-automatic handgun. Engraved directly into the slide was a distinct, intricate crest... a stylized serpent wrapped around an inverted cross.
The moment Leo saw it, whatever confidence he had left evaporated because the kid instantly looked like he was about to pass out... His face had gone pale the moment I slid the photograph across the table.
"I... I told the other guys, I don't know anything about that. I just boost cars." he stammered. "It's not mine."
