Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7: “I Entered Their World”

The world didn't collapse.

It transformed.

That was the difference.

Before—

Everything broke.

Now—

Everything adjusted.

To me.

The moment the light burst through the fractured sky, reality itself began to shift.

The hallway stretched unnaturally, like space had lost its meaning.

Walls folded inward—

Then outward.

Distances twisted.

What was far became close.

What was close—

Vanished.

"…We're not in the same place anymore," Mai said.

"…No," I replied.

"…We've been moved."

Huy's voice trembled.

"Moved WHERE?!"

I didn't answer.

Because I already knew.

This wasn't the system anymore.

This was something beyond it.

Something that didn't follow rules—

It created them.

The system flickered weakly one last time.

[Phase 4 Active]

[System Authority: Suspended]

Then—

It disappeared.

Completely.

No interface.

No control.

Nothing.

"…It's gone," Huy whispered.

"…No."

I looked up.

"…It's been replaced."

Silence.

Heavy.

Then—

The light shifted.

Focused.

On me.

Not near.

Not around.

Directly.

My body went still.

Not from fear—

From instinct.

Something was watching me.

Something far above everything I had faced.

"…So this is what's above you," I said quietly.

For the first time—

Something answered.

Not with sound.

Not with words.

But with presence.

Cold.

Ancient.

Absolute.

[Evaluation Initiated]

My pupils shrank.

"…It's testing me."

Huy stepped back.

"…Testing you for WHAT?!"

"…I don't know."

And that was the problem.

The space around us twisted again.

Not breaking.

Rewriting.

The hallway folded into something else—

Something undefined.

"…This place isn't real," Mai said.

"…No."

"…It's controlled."

Exactly.

Every shift—

Every distortion—

Was intentional.

Directed.

Toward me.

"…So what do you want?" I asked.

Silence.

Then—

The pressure hit.

Not violent.

Not crushing.

But absolute.

Like a law.

A rule that couldn't be resisted.

My body froze.

Not physically—

Conceptually.

Like something had decided—

I shouldn't move.

[Restriction Applied]

"…It's trying to control you," Mai said.

"…Yeah."

"…But not like the system."

The system used rules.

This—

Was the rule.

I clenched my fist.

The energy inside me surged instantly.

Reacting.

Adapting.

"…Then I'll change."

The pressure wavered.

Just slightly.

That was enough.

"…It's not perfect," I said.

"…It can still be broken."

I stepped forward.

Slowly.

Carefully.

The pressure cracked.

[Restriction Failure]

"…Good."

The space distorted violently.

Reacting to me.

Trying to adjust.

Trying to understand.

"…It's focusing on you more," Mai said.

"…I know."

That was what I wanted.

I needed it to focus.

To reveal itself.

The light intensified.

And for a moment—

I saw it.

A shape.

Massive.

Layered.

Like multiple existences overlapping at once.

Watching me.

Analyzing me.

"…So that's what you are."

Huy backed away.

"…WHAT are you seeing?!"

"…Something the system answers to."

Silence.

Then—

The presence shifted.

Not aggressively.

Not violently.

But—

Interested.

[Evaluation Updated]

"…It's learning," Mai whispered.

"…Yeah."

Just like everything else.

But on a different level.

A higher level.

"…You can't define me," I said quietly.

"…And that means you can't control me."

The light pulsed.

Then—

The pressure vanished.

Instantly.

Huy collapsed.

"…It stopped…"

"…No."

I smiled faintly.

"…It made a decision."

Silence.

"…What decision?" he asked.

I clenched my fist.

Energy surged.

Stronger.

Sharper.

More real.

"…It's letting me continue."

The world shifted again.

Not violently.

But deliberately.

Like something had opened a door.

I stepped forward.

And crossed it.

Everything disappeared.

No sound.

No light.

No space.

Nothing.

Then—

Everything returned.

But not the same.

I stood still.

Looking around.

"…So this is it."

We weren't in the school anymore.

We weren't even in a world.

There was no ground.

No sky.

No direction.

Just layers.

Endless layers overlapping.

Fragments of different realities intersecting.

Moving.

Changing.

Rewriting themselves constantly.

"…Where are we?" Huy whispered.

"…Not where we belong," Mai said.

She was right.

This wasn't a place.

It was something deeper.

Something behind everything.

"…This is their world," I said quietly.

"…The ones above the system."

Silence.

Then—

The light returned.

From everywhere.

And nowhere.

It focused on me again.

[Evaluation Continued]

"…Still watching," I murmured.

But closer now.

More direct.

The space around me shifted.

One layer aligned.

Stabilized.

Forming something I could stand on.

"…It's isolating you," Mai said.

"…Yeah."

"…To study me."

That was worse.

Because that meant—

This wasn't a test anymore.

It was analysis.

Something appeared in front of me.

A shape.

Incomplete.

Unstable.

But present.

Watching.

"…So this is how you show yourself."

No response.

But the space reacted.

[Interaction Initiated]

"…Interaction," I repeated.

"…Good."

I stepped forward.

The layer warped instantly.

Trying to adapt.

Trying to keep up.

"…You've been watching me from the start," I said.

The shape flickered.

Just slightly.

"…So I was right."

Mai whispered:

"…What is it?"

"…The thing behind everything."

The shape shifted.

Deeper.

Adjusting.

Adapting.

"…It's learning you," she said.

"…Yeah."

That was the danger.

If it learned enough—

It might control me.

"…Not happening."

I changed again.

No pattern.

No identity.

No stable form.

The space shook violently.

The shape flickered harder.

[Error: Incomplete Analysis]

I smiled.

"…Still not enough."

I moved forward.

Closer.

Closer to something no one should reach.

"…If you want to understand me…"

"…Come closer."

Silence.

Then—

The light intensified.

The shape stabilized slightly.

And moved.

Toward me.

For the first time.

Mai's voice dropped.

"…You shouldn't do that…"

"…Too late."

Because now—

It wasn't just watching.

It was engaging.

And that meant—

This had just begun.

I smiled.

Cold.

Excited.

"…Now we're finally getting somewhere."
