Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Variability Part 1

It was May of 2012, and in the town of Westview everything appeared completely ordinary at first glance, the streets were quiet, people were occupied with their small daily routines, and from the outside it looked like nothing more than a peaceful and insignificant town, at least by Westview standards this day was no different from any other, yet beneath this calm surface something hidden was stirring, deep under this false sense of normalcy, a movement that could threaten reality itself had already begun.

Beneath an ordinary-looking house located in one of the outskirts of the town, there existed a massive and highly advanced hidden research facility, far larger than anyone could ever imagine from the outside, inside this facility hundreds of scientists were working simultaneously with intense focus, operating within rooms filled with giant screens, pulsing energy cores, and unknown technologies, and on the chest of every single one of them the same symbol gleamed, the insignia of A.I.M reflecting under the dim lights, making it clear that they were far from ordinary scientists.

The underground laboratory was easily worth hundreds of millions of US dollars when considering the level of technology, energy systems, and security measures involved, the walls were not made of ordinary metal but reinforced with unknown alloys, streams of pulsing energy ran through every corner, and even the air itself felt artificially dense, yet no one inside this massive facility cared about its grandeur anymore, because every single person's attention was fixed on one point, the experiment taking place behind thick protective walls, within that chamber six Infinity Stones floated in midair, each one vibrating in its own color and radiating a power that seemed to come from beyond reality itself, as if space, time, mind, reality, power, and soul had all converged into a single location.

At the very front stood Andrew Forson, the Scientist Supreme of A.I.M, his posture calm and confident, his gaze locked onto the experiment, with a faint expression of satisfaction on his face, while behind him one of the senior scientists could no longer suppress his curiosity, his voice slightly trembling yet still respectful as he leaned forward and asked, Master, how did you obtain the Infinity Stones, aren't these powers something even the most dangerous beings in the universe struggle to acquire, was it truly this simple, or is there a much darker story behind it.

Andrew Forson took a slow breath and slightly lowered his head, a rare expression of regret appearing on his face, his eyes still locked onto the stones floating behind the protective barrier, and although his voice retained its usual authority, a subtle shadow lingered within it, unfortunately, he said, these Infinity Stones you see are not the originals, they are merely highly advanced portable replicas, replicated to near perfection yet at best possessing only one-millionth of the original power, however they should not be underestimated, because even in this state they are capable of disrupting the structure of a super galaxy, annihilating star systems, and fracturing local reality itself, and controlling them is already a miracle on its own.

The scientist hesitated for a moment, his throat dry, caught between the overwhelming magnitude of the power before him and the ambition growing within his heart, yet he did not step back and spoke with a slightly trembling voice, Master, will this power be enough to make us gods, if these were the original stones there would be no doubt, but these are only prototypes, no matter how incredibly powerful they are, what we are attempting is not an ordinary experiment, we are trying to bend the very laws of reality that form the foundation of the multiverse, to rewrite space, time, and existence itself, and in the end, under the banner of A.I.M, we aim to create a god, but will these replicas truly be enough to give birth to such a being, or will they lead us into a catastrophe beyond our control.

Noticing the doubt on his student's face, Andrew Forson suddenly let out a reassuring laugh, a sound filled with both confidence and pride in the scale of his plans, tilting his head slightly as he spoke in a calm yet firm tone, there is no need to worry, I am not relying solely on these six prototype Infinity Stones, they are only one part of the plan, what truly matters is what we use to fuel them and how we control them, and tell me, why do you think we stole the Arc Reactor data from Tony Stark's company, did you really believe we would take such a risk just for a few replica stones, no, there is a far greater objective behind all of this.

Forson raised his hand slightly and pointed toward the center of the laboratory, where a massive structure embedded deep into the ground hummed with immense power, what you see, he said, is not a primitive version of the Arc Reactor used by Tony Stark, but a vastly evolved iteration, this reactor can produce millions of times the energy per second compared to Stark's own, which theoretically means it can supply energy to the Earth thousands of times over, however our goal is not merely to store this energy, but to direct it and utilize it in its purest form, with this endless flow of power we will amplify the strength of these six stones, even if only partially, pushing their limits and multiplying their influence over reality, and in doing so, we will make the impossible possible.

As Andrew Forson noticed the admiration in his students' eyes, he clearly took pleasure in it, a faint smile forming at the corner of his lips as he slowly turned his gaze toward the experiment chamber, his voice suddenly sharpening with absolute authority as he commanded, begin the experiment, and as those words echoed throughout the laboratory, hundreds of scientists moved at once, systems were activated, energy lines began to glow, and massive mechanisms came to life one after another, the entire facility operating in perfect harmony as if guided by a single will.

With Forson's command, the massive Arc Reactor deep beneath the facility suddenly activated, pure energy surged from its core and spread throughout the entire system within seconds, at the same time the six Infinity Stones floating at the center of the chamber began to vibrate violently, each glowing in its own color as they entered a state of unstable activation, the energy waves were so intense that even the fabric of reality itself began to distort slightly, lights flickered, machines were pushed beyond their limits, and the only thing preventing this terrifying energy from spiraling out of control was the layers of Vibranium integrated into the chamber, a rare metal obtained from Wakanda that absorbed the overwhelming energy output, otherwise the sheer force of this eruption would have inevitably destroyed the entire facility and perhaps even the whole town.

At the exact critical moment of the experiment, when the systems were reaching their limits and the energy was on the verge of spiraling out of control, violent explosion sounds erupted from the upper levels of the facility, shaking the entire laboratory, metal doors were being blown apart, alarm systems blared wildly, and the vibrations reached even the deepest levels, this sudden chaos completely disrupted what had been a perfectly controlled environment just seconds ago, and now everyone's attention shifted from the experiment to the threat above.

Andrew Forson's expression changed instantly, his eyes widening with fury as he shouted with a madness on the verge of breaking free, at the most important moment, who would dare do this, who would be foolish enough to make a move against A.I.M like this, his voice echoed throughout the lab as the scientists around him exchanged fearful glances, some desperately trying to stabilize the systems while others stood frozen, unsure of what to do.

At that very moment, the communicator in his ear crackled to life, and the urgent report from the soldiers reached him, his face, once filled with anger, now shifted into genuine shock, because the names he heard were far from ordinary, Tony Stark, Iron Man himself, had infiltrated the facility, alongside him were agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Black Widow and Hawkeye, but that was not what truly shook Forson, it was the final name in the report that made him freeze for a moment, Captain America was among them, which was impossible, that man should have died seventy years ago, or at least faded into history, so how could he possibly be here, at this exact moment, standing against him.
