"Susan!"
Seeing his wife being held suspended in mid-air by her throat, helpless, even Mr. Fantastic's super-genius brain could no longer maintain a shred of rationality.
"Let her go!" Reed Richards roared. His body instantly lost its rigid skeletal structure as he aggressively elongated his arm, whipping it through the air to coil tightly around Peter.
Watching from a distance, Captain America couldn't help but smack his own forehead. What is wrong with you four today? This is literally a textbook case of a rescue line marching one by one straight into an enemy trap! We can't let this guy keep picking us apart individually!
With that sharp thought, Steve Rogers hoisted his iconic circular shield high into the air, bellowing the legendary rallying cry:
"Avengers... assemble!"
At the command, Captain America led the charge, with Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the others hot on his heels as they lunged toward Peter. The plan was flawless, the tactics classic.
But before Steve could even land on the pavement, using his shield to absorb the momentum of his descent, a slender silhouette hissed through the air on a strand of web-fluid. A fierce, sweeping whip-kick slammed squarely into his armored chest!
BANG!
The massive kinetic impact sent Cap flying backward through the air. His robust physique rolled awkwardly across the pavement several times before he managed to stabilize his footing.
"If you want to disrupt Peter's fight, you'll have to get through me first," Gwen stated coldly, landing gracefully in a flawless, classic Spider-Man three-point stance. She turned a sharp, piercing glare toward the oncoming Avengers.
She possessed two hundred percent confidence in Peter's absolute strength. However, having confidence didn't mean she was just going to sit back and watch her man get dogpiled by a crowd of superheroes.
Gwen was no mere damsel in distress; she was a capable partner who could shoulder his burdens!
Seeing Gwen intercept the Avengers without a trace of hesitation, the Spiders—who had previously been content cheering Peter on from the sidelines—instantly snapped out of their trance.
They scrambled forward, dropping into defensive positions right behind their "Big Sister."
"She is right! Nobody disturbs the Boss's fight!" "If it's a team brawl you want, we aren't afraid of you!" "With all due respect, legends, we're actually the victims here!" "We just came to get answers from the mastermind.
If you're going to harbor that bastard, then even against the Avengers, we won't hold back!"
"We won't hurt you, but we won't let you stop us from seeking the truth!"
In a flash, an all-out clash between the Spider-Army and the Avengers erupted. The moment the battle commenced, the scales of the engagement tipped overwhelmingly in favor of the Spiders.
Though the Avengers carried a legendary reputation, the reality was that the only cosmic-level heavy hitters present in this specific roster were Hulk and Thor (Wanda, Vision, and Captain Marvel were absent).
Even factoring in Tony Stark's Iron Man armor, they only possessed two and a half top-tier assets.
Aside from those three, the remaining members—Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Spider-Woman—were fundamentally outmatched by a standard Spider-Man in a pure one-on-one scenario.
And right now, they were facing an organized legion of over a hundred Spiders!
As those four superheroes were swiftly neutralized and bundled up into oversized web-fluid cocoons, the battlefield rapidly shifted into a massive, coordinated dogpile surrounding Iron Man and the Hulk.
"Guys, I'm having a massive surge of firepower anxiety here!" Tony Stark called out, executing high-speed aerial maneuvers as he frantically unleashed palm repulsors and micro-missiles.
But there were simply too many Spiders! Utilizing their heightened Spider-Senses, they consistently anticipated Tony's targeting vectors, dodging nimbly through the concrete canyons of the city buildings.
While Tony was entirely consumed with fending off the swarming Spiders, a black-and-white silhouette quietly materialized right behind his thrusters.
Sensing the sudden displacement of air, Tony spun around and launched a heavy armored fist!
However, his fist—reinforced by the Extremis armor—was firmly and cleanly caught by a slender, webbed palm. It was Gwen, fully enveloped in her active symbiote suit!
With the symbiote active, Gwen's raw lifting capacity exceeded thirty tons. Even facing an advanced armor completely integrated with human physiology, she remained effortlessly composed.
"I'll handle this one," Gwen called out over the comms. "The rest of you focus on tangling up the green guy and the one with the hammer."
CRACK-BOOM!
The moment the words left her mouth, massive arcs of lightning ripped through the upper atmosphere, sending numerous Spiders crashing down, their suits smoking from the electrical discharge.
"Uh, alright..." Gwen noted, glancing at a lightning-wreathed Thor. A sudden thought occurred to her, and she amended her orders with a relaxed tone: "You can let the hammer guy pass. Just keep the Hulk occupied!"
While Gwen clashed with Iron Man and the Spider-Army engaged the Hulk in a chaotic guerilla war, Thor and Reed Richards closed in on Peter from both flanks.
Faced with the pincer movement of the two icons, a peculiar, amused smile played on Peter's lips.
Perfect timing. I can use you two to stress-test my brand-new acquisitions!
Glancing down at the digital display of the Omnitrix, which cleanly read[Gene acquisition complete!], Peter casually tossed the Invisible Woman aside.
He then raised his hand, executing the exact same kinetic-barrier gesture Susan Storm had used to defend against his earlier strike.
What is he doing? Mr. Fantastic's super-genius brain processed the movement. Looking at the device on Peter's wrist, then at the defensive stance identical to his wife's, an utterly absurd, terrifying realization flashed through his mind.
But before his intellect could fully reject the thought as an impossibility, the scene unfolding before his eyes forced his pupils to dilate in pure shock.
HUM—
Practically the exact millisecond Reed's elongated fist and Thor's descending bolt of lightning were about to collide with Peter's frame, a flawless, translucent energy field manifested out of thin air, encapsulating Peter like a pristine bubble.
The violent torrent of divine lightning and Reed's snapping punch slammed heavily against the surface of the forcefield. Yet, the impact merely generated a faint, shallow ripple across the transparent barrier. It didn't leave behind a single fracture.
The bizarre sequence caused Thor and Reed's eyes to nearly pop out of their skulls. What the hell... he actually copied Susan's abilities! Are you kidding me?!
An alternate variant of Spider-Man possessing a baseline physical conditioning absurd enough to shatter The Thing's knuckles was already a nightmare.
But now he could actively replicate the distinct superpowers of others? If he managed to siphon the entire power library of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four... who in this universe would be left to stop him?
"That watch!"
Possessing an IQ well north of 270 and a flawless photographic memory, Reed rapidly cross-referenced the tactical data from the preceding exchanges, instantly arriving at the core variable.
"Every time he fought Susan and the others, he deliberately restrained them to buy time. Immediately afterward, that watch emitted a distinct green light.
That device is the absolute source of his anomalous abilities!"
Realizing their offensive had stalled, Reed smoothly contorted his elastic torso into a structural ramp, cleanly sliding the semi-conscious Susan and Johnny back toward a secure perimeter.
Having secured them, he pointed dramatically at the Omnitrix on Peter's wrist, shouting up to the hovering God of Thunder:
"Thor! Find a way to strip that watch off his wrist, or focus everything on destroying that device entirely!"
