Chapter 247 - Solus Descends

Facing the two Inheritors rushing toward him, Peter couldn't help but hook up a cold smile, letting out the sigh of a hundred-year-old elder:

"Hou, instead of running away, you're actually approaching me step by step?"

As he spoke, Peter decisively abandoned the defense-only strategy that the two Inheritors had long grown accustomed to. Golden inscriptions surfaced on his hands, and his entire person instantly flashed right before the two Inheritors:

"Have fun, you two!"

He reached out, grabbing the heads of both Inheritors, and slammed them together violently.

In that instant, a terrifying force easily ten times more powerful than Aleksei's suddenly erupted. The tyrannical strength left the two Inheritors with absolutely no power to retaliate. Their heads collided heavily and instantly exploded into a mist of blood that filled the air.

It wasn't until the two headless corpses crashed onto the ground that the crowd present finally snapped back from their shock. Whether it was Morlun or the superheroes on the field, everyone was utterly dumbfounded by Peter's stunning move.

Is this guy even human?

An opponent that a massive crowd of us spent so much effort just to barely break through their defense—you merely make a casual move and directly blow their heads to pieces?

As for Peter, after tossing aside the two headless corpses, he merely looked at his hands subconsciously. Seeing the red crystals that were originally clamped between his fingers now shattered all over the ground, he couldn't help but smack his lips.

His control over divine power still wasn't subtle enough; he had accidentally crushed these crystals into dust with the shockwave.

On the other side, seeing that the memory crystals—their literal life-saving straw—had been ground to pieces by Peter, Morlun, and Brix no longer had any hesitation. Only a single thought remained in their brains—run!

Their faces stark white, the two turned around with perfect, synchronized movements like Jaeger pilots from Pacific Rim, intending to flee in different directions without a second thought.

But they had barely run two steps before heaven and earth instantly changed color.

A terrifying energy swept down from the horizon, enveloping the entirety of Hell's Kitchen. The sky darkened completely, and bursts of wild wind howled. Purple lightning tore through the clouds, and thunder boomed continuously across the horizon.

Morlun and Brix subconsciously halted their steps, lifting their heads to look at the sky. Their originally non-stop trembling bodies strangely ceased to shake.

Looking at the massive fissure surfacing in the air and sensing the wildly rampaging energy within their bodies, an unprecedented light suddenly erupted in their eyes.

This feeling! It couldn't be wrong! That was Father's aura! Their father had come to save them!

Finally, the fissure in the sky shattered completely, and an elderly silhouette stepped out from within. The strongest executioner of the Inheritor family, the father of all Inheritors—Solus had descended!

The exact instant they saw Solus, Morlun and Brix immediately fell to their knees, crying out excitedly:

"Father, save me quickly!"

However, Solus paid no heed to his offspring, merely sweeping his cold eyes across the battlefield. The moment the superheroes on the field locked eyes with him, they felt as if an invisible sledgehammer had violently struck their brains, leaving them barely able to stand straight.

That was an absolute crushing pressure on the level of lifeforms.

Just as the crowd was on the verge of kneeling down right then and there, a terrifying aura suddenly burst forth from within Peter's body.

Wherever this terrifying aura passed, the superheroes—who had been suppressed by Solus to the point of being unable to breathe—instantly felt their bodies lighten, that suffocating sense of oppression vanishing without a trace.

Boom!

At the exact same time, they felt a wave of relief, and a sudden clap of thunder exploded in the sky. Following closely, the cloud layers visibly ripped into two halves, acting exactly as if heaven and earth were trembling because of the clash of these two individuals' auras.

"Huh?!"

Sensing the Conqueror's Haki released from Peter's body, Solus couldn't help but freeze for a moment. His gaze instantly locked onto Peter, and he couldn't resist speaking up:

"You are that Other? This force... is indeed not simple! If I hadn't come prepared, I'm afraid I truly wouldn't be your match!"

On the other side, Peter silently observed Solus, sensing the surging power within him. An incomparably bizarre expression couldn't help but surface on his face. This old man actually possessed a kind of energy he had never seen before.

He thus spoke up as well:

"Your power is completely different from the version of you in your children's memories. You old man... seem to have acquired some new energy system?"

"Correct!"

Facing Peter's question, Solus didn't hide anything either. He slowly raised his hand, a strange sphere of energy slowly rotating within his palm:

"To ensure that this hunt would be completely foolproof, I specifically took a trip to Universe-13."

"There, I found a little fellow whom I had been keeping my eyes on for many years."

"To ensure that absolutely no accidents would occur during this hunt, I specifically devoured him ahead of time!"

"That fellow's power was indeed highly formidable, even causing me to fall into a bitter struggle at one point. But unfortunately..."

Speaking up to here, Solus split his mouth open, revealing a mouth full of fangs:

"In the end, he still became a dish on my plate. And his powerful cosmic energy... now belongs entirely to me."

The exact instant his words fell, the cosmic energy within Solus's palm erupted. The entirety of Hell's Kitchen vibrated violently under the pressure of this force.

Inside Tony Stark's armor, Jarvis continuously refreshed the warnings. Every single piece of data completely exceeded standard parameters, and the screen flashed with a piercing red light.

"Sir... according to the energy reading analysis, the target's contained energy level... has already exceeded our measurement upper limit."

Jarvis's electronic voice seemed to carry a trace of trembling at this moment.

The superheroes, whose morale had just been revitalized because the enemies could be killed, all fell silent now. A force this terrifying was something they had never seen before, to the point where they didn't even dare to harbor the thought of resisting.

Gulp. Someone swallowed a mouthful of saliva with great difficulty, the sound ringing out clearly across the battlefield.

In contrast to the heroes' silence, the members of the Inheritor family revealed triumphant smiles.

"Cosmic energy... Father... he actually absorbed the power of Cosmic Spider-Man!"

"Hahahahaha! Won! We're guaranteed to win!"

Morlun laughed wildly, looking toward Peter and shouting:

"Other! Do you see this! This is my father's power! So what if you destroyed our factory? Before absolute strength, those ridiculous schemes of yours are completely not worth mentioning!"

"You bugs are all going to die! I will drain every single drop of your totem power, and I will savor every single inch of your flesh and blood meticulously!"

Just as Morlun and Brix were crazily popping the half-time champagne, a development that absolutely no one on the field expected occurred.

Puchi!

Puchi!

Accompanied by two muffled sounds, in the next second, Morlun and Brix's smiles completely froze on their faces. They looked down toward their chests in sheer disbelief, impressively seeing two palms driving straight through their torsos.

And the master of these two palms... was impressively their father—Solus!
