Chapter 79 - Chapter 80: Determination

Zane's voice wasn't loud, but it landed with weight.

"Zane, what are you trying to do?"

Jinhsi's expression changed. Just as she was about to stop him from continuing, Zane's voice echoed through the Mianloong Chambers, "I will challenge you together with Sis Jinhsi."

"What do you mean?" The massive dragon body coiled in the air, waves of temporal fluctuation called surprise spreading from its side and filling the entire Mianloong Chambers.

"My body doesn't have any frequency, which means it's a natural filter."

"If Sis Jinhsi's body can't withstand your temporal power, then I'll become the transfer point, gradually passing your power to her at a level she can control."

As his words fell, the Mianloong Chambers became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"An interesting proposal." Jue had to admit that even though it already knew he was the one destined to accompany the Arbiter forever, and even though its evaluation of Zane had been rising all along, it had still underestimated this young man.

"But you don't have any certainty, do you?"

"That's right." Zane nodded without hesitation, determination in his eyes.

"If everything has to be carefully planned before acting, then humanity will never move forward. What it means to explore is to walk further along the road that those before us couldn't finish."

At the same time, Stelle, who had been studying the frozen water, suddenly looked up, her pupils shaking.

'Damn it, Akivili is still chasing me!'

Just as Zane was speaking so passionately, a jade-like foot suddenly kicked him hard in the backside.

"Ow, which bastard… uh, Rover, why are you kicking me again? Don't get me wrong, that kick was great. I just want to know why I got hit so I can fix it next time, really no other meaning."

"I don't agree!"

Rover walked up to Zane. Ignoring Jue's gaze that looked like it had been shaken for an entire year, she grabbed Zane by the collar and pulled him close, her fair face right in front of his.

Zane instantly felt a soft fragrance rush into his nose, though mixed with a trace of resentment.

"I'm begging you, can you treat yourself a little better? Every time, every time, every time, do you have to push yourself to the brink before you stop?"

"If you want to die, there's no need to make it this complicated. I can stab you right now and be done with it!"

Rover's anger completely erupted once again when she heard Zane putting his life on the line.

At the same time, the mark on her right hand flickered on and off. In the next moment, Abby stumbled and jumped out from the mark.

"Earthquake! Run!"

Fortunately, the doctor reacted quickly, grabbing Abby and dragging it away from the center of the explosion.

In her view, this was actually an opportunity…

"I don't agree either."

Jinhsi firmly chose to stand with Rover.

The reason was simple. Given Zane's personality, even if he knew the danger, he would still rush forward without hesitation like a gambler.

But gamblers eventually lose.

She didn't want Zane to put himself in danger just to protect her.

Zane felt like pieces of his flesh were being sliced off by the two gazes fixed on him, and cold sweat instantly broke out.

He wanted to explain, but Jue's voice sounded at that moment.

"Arbiter, I think it's worth trying."

Zane struggled to turn his head and looked at Jue, who was standing with him at this moment. He felt deeply moved.

This is what a true brother is like, willing to take a hit for you at a critical moment.

"Hmm?"

Jue was glanced at by Rover and instantly lost its nerve. It stammered, not daring to meet those sharp golden eyes.

"Uh, I mean… um, that…"

Seeing Jue like this, Zane immediately knew this big dragon had chickened out and cursed it in his heart for lacking loyalty.

With no external support, Zane could only meet Rover's gaze head-on without backing down…

'She's really pretty, hehe.'

Rover stared straight at him, as if time itself had frozen in that moment.

However, she knew better than anyone that once Zane made a decision, it was as firm as steel, almost impossible to shake.

That was just the kind of person he was. For the people he cared about, he would give everything without hesitation.

Whether facing an unbeatable enemy or protecting the Sentinel that safeguarded civilization, he would stand firmly by that person's side without retreating. That kind of stubbornness and resolve made Rover both love and hate him.

Thinking about it carefully, whether it was her in the past or now, it was probably this side of him that drew her in.

Like a magnet, impossible to resist.

Letting out a helpless sigh, Rover slowly released her grip on his collar. Then she gently reached out and smoothed the wrinkles on his clothes.

"Are you confident?"

"Don't worry."

A faint smile appeared on her beautiful face. Fine, fine. Since both Jue and Zane were so confident, at worst she would just worry more and take care of him afterward.

With that thought, Rover turned her head and looked at Jue, asking in a low voice, "What do I need to do?"

Seeing Rover speak, Jue finally let out a breath of relief.

After setting up such a big plan, it had finally gotten her permission.

"You are not entirely a bystander. If you are willing to intervene, perhaps the chances of Jinhsi and Zane surviving can increase by another ten percent."

'Boss, don't worry, let me scare the little girl a bit more.'

"You only need to allow me, at the necessary moment, to transfer the power of time to Jinhsi. That way, her life might be preserved."

"Allow?"

Zane raised an eyebrow and looked at Rover with interest.

'Arbiter, permission… these words…'

As if sensing his gaze, even though she was also confused, Rover still proudly put her hands on her hips, see, I'm just that impressive.

"Rover, could it be that you… are its mom?"

So this Sentinel is a mama's boy dragon.

But as the saying goes, what goes around comes around.

The moment Zane said that, fate had already marked the price.

So one and a half seconds later, a big bump appeared on Zane's head.

Jue: 'Arbiter, do you need me to deal with him later?'

Rover: 'You dare!'

Being scolded by Rover left Jue feeling wronged. It only wanted to vent her anger for her…

'Women are really hard to understand.'

Even though it felt aggrieved inside, it still had to maintain a dignified expression on the outside…

"At that time, even the slightest mistake on your part will not change Jinhsi's outcome in the slightest."

Zane: 'Then what about my outcome?'

Jue: 'If I don't mention you, don't you have any self-awareness?'

Jinhsi, standing nearby, watched the two of them and the dragon exchanging glances and felt like something was off.

Just like Zane couldn't stop her, she also couldn't change his mind.

"I… was someone who should have died. By sheer luck, I was saved by you. Only then did I have the chance to see the countless lights of Jinzhou."

Jinhsi's eyes grew even more resolute. She wasn't afraid. Not only because she was fighting for a sliver of hope for Jinzhou, but also because he was by her side.

Jinhsi turned her head and smiled softly at Zane. In that instant, the radiance she gave off overshadowed even the temporal glow at the corners of her eyes.

"Jinzhou is the homeland that raised me. If Jinzhou faces calamity, I only wish to do everything I can to protect what I cherish… even if it means staking my life."

"As long as I still have a breath left, even if it's only for a single moment to bear your temporal power, it would be enough to exchange for a future for Jinzhou that does not exist in your prophecy, and to ensure your safety."

The girl's resolute words struck Jue deeply. At this moment, it knew clearly that her determination could no longer be shaken.

And from this moment on, it saw another future for Jinzhou…

In that future, the white-clad girl stood at the peak of the people, leading Jinzhou through layers of fog toward the light.

"Hahaha… good! Jinhsi, Magistrate Jin."

Then follow me to the peak of Mt. Firmament, and show me everything you've got."

After saying that, the massive dragon head turned toward the sky and soared upward with an overwhelming force that seemed to crush everything.

Xinyi, who was in Hongzhen, looked at the enormous figure soaring into the sky and heading toward the peak of Mt. Firmament. Her heart trembled uncontrollably.

She knew that what Jinhsi and Zane were about to accomplish next was something never before seen in human history.

She couldn't help but pray sincerely, "Jinhsi, Zane, you must come back safely…"
