Chapter 46 - Chapter 46: elimination

The atmosphere inside the xenocides Coliseum was a physical weight. Fifty thousand spectators leaned forward in their seats, their collective breath fogging in the cool air of the arena. This wasn't just a tournament; it was the winnowing of the weak. The "arena"—the massive, elevated circular platform of reinforced stone—glowed with faint blue energy. The rules were absolute: a knockout or being forced off the platform meant immediate elimination.

High above, in the Captain's Spire, the ten leaders of the Xenocide divisions sat in high-backed chairs, overlooking the battlefield.

"The brackets are interesting this year," zinab Virel, Captain of the 5th, remarked smoothly. Her eyes were fixed on the 10th Division's bench. "The 10th are actually standing their ground."

"Standing is one thing. Surviving is another," replied Reid Gedion Swallow, the 1st Division Captain. He sat with his hands folded, the very image of calm authority.

MATCH 1

Elias (10th) vs. Kylo (1st)

Elias stepped onto the Reign, his gaze steady. Across from him, Kylo adjusted his gloves, a smirk playing on his lips. As the buzzer sounded, Kylo's eyes shimmered with a mercury-like silver.

Elias lunged. He led with a low-to-high combination—a standard combat drill.

But Kylo moved in perfect synchronization. He didn't just parry; he used the exact same elbow-counter Elias had been planning to use.

" the hell " Rook muttered from the sidelines, leaning forward. "Kylo is copying Elias movement "

"Elias isn't fighting back," Sloane noted, her hands clenched. "i wonder what his doing?"

In the ring, the fight was a haunting dance. Every strike Elias threw was met by its twin. When Elias shifted his weight to the left, Kylo mirrored it down to the millimeter. Kylo began to laugh. "I am your perfect shadow, Elias. Everything you know, I know. Every reflex you've built, I've stolen."

Kylo delivered a spinning hook kick. Elias ducked, but Kylo transitioned into a knee strike—the exact move Elias had used to win his qualifying match. The strike caught Elias in the ribs, sending him skidding toward the edge of the arena.

"Is that all the 10th has to offer?" Valerius shouted from the 1st Division area, though he kept his voice professional.

Elias stood up slowly. He didn't activate his scales. Instead, he forced his body to go limp. Evolution. Elias didn't change his power; he changed the logic of his movement. He began to strike with "Broken Rhythm." He would start a punch with his right, then mid-swing, force his joints to rotate in a way that defied standard human anatomy—an evolutionary adaptation to his own bone structure.

Kylo tried to copy the move. His silver eyes widened as his own arm attempted the impossible rotation. A sickening snap echoed through the arena as Kylo's copied reflex forced his arm to move in a way his untrained body couldn't handle.

Elias didn't hesitate. With his opponent's mimicry failing due to biological overload, Elias stepped in. He didn't use fire or energy. He delivered a focused, three-point strike to Kylo's pressure centers. First the solar plexus, then the jaw, and finally, a devastating palm strike to the forehead.

Kylo's eyes rolled back. The silver shimmer faded. He collapsed like a puppet with cut strings, out cold in the center of the ring.

From the bench in the coliseum,

Kross turned , Kahn. and Dr. D, his brow furrowed. "I don't get it," Kross muttered. "Kylo's Evolith is a Mimicry type. He's supposed to copy muscle memory and power output perfectly. Why didn't he just copy Elias's 'move ' and counter it?"

Dr D replied "let me explain, Kylo's Evolith is the ultimate 'Software.' It can see any move and instantly write the code for his nerves to execute it. But every piece of software needs 'Hardware'—the physical bones, tendons, and ligaments—to run on. Kylo's hardware is a standard, high-tier human frame. It has limits. It has breaking points."

"When Elias forced his body to evolve, he didn't just change his movement; he changed his Physical Architecture. Mid-punch, Elias evolved his elbow into a multi-directional ball-joint and thickened his tendons into a high-density carbon-fiber-like weave. His body was no longer 'human' in that moment."

"Kylo's power did exactly what it was designed to do: it forced his body to mirror Elias perfectly. It sent a command to Kylo's standard human elbow to rotate in a direction it wasn't built for, with a force it couldn't sustain. Kylo's power essentially 'overclocked' his own body until it broke. He attempted to run 'Evolved Code' on 'Un-evolved Hardware.' The hardware didn't just fail—it shattered under the pressure of the command."

"The knockout wasn't just physical trauma. When Kylo's nerves tried to sync with Elias's constantly shifting DNA, it created a Neurological Feedback Loop. Imagine a mirror trying to reflect an image that is changing color and shape a thousand times a second. The 'Mirror'—Kylo's brain—couldn't keep up. The sensory overload caused a total system shutdown. Elias didn't just outfight him; he forced Kylo's own power to turn against his biology.

Kross was shocked, he looked at Elias and said "such power"

WINNER: ELIAS (BY KNOCKOUT)

Elias walked back to the 10th's bench, his breathing heavy. He stopped in front of Nyx, who was checking her gear. "Don't lose," he said, his voice a low rasp.

Nyx gave a sharp nod. "I don't plan to."

Match 2:

Nyx (10th) vs. Julian (1st)

Julian stepped out to a roar of applause. He was the 1st Division's pride—a man who could control the fundamental force of gravity. He looked at Nyx with a quiet, regal pity.

"I'm not gonna lose like Kylo , cause part of the agris prime," Julian said as the match began. He slammed his hand downward.

Gravity Manipulation.

The entire Reign groaned under the sudden increase in weight. The air felt like liquid lead. Nyx was slammed to her knees instantly, the stone cracking beneath her.

"She can't move!" Jaxen yelled. "Julian's field is too dense!"

"Wait," Cipher said, squinting at his data pad. "Look at the shadow."

Julian stepped forward to push the pinned Nyx off the edge. But just as his hand reached out, Nyx vanished. Teleportation. She reappeared directly above him, plummeting down. Julian reacted instantly, reversing the gravity in a pillar above him to launch her into the sky. But Nyx wasn't there anymore. She teleported mid-air, appearing behind his left shoulder.

Julian spun, increasing the gravity in a 360-degree radius. "You can't get close!"

Nyx smirked. She teleported again—not to the side, but directly into Julian's personal space, grabbing his wrists. The weight was immense; she felt her own bones starting to creak. But she didn't let go.

"If I go down," Nyx whispered, "you're coming with me."

She teleported both of them. Not once, but five times in rapid succession—flickering around the arena like a glitch in reality. The constant change in spatial coordinates disoriented Julian, breaking his focus on the gravity field.

In the final flicker, they appeared at the very edge of the Reign. Julian tried to launch a gravity blast to push her back, but Nyx was faster. She teleported behind him and delivered a precision kick to the back of his knee, then grabbed his collar and used his own momentum to heave him over the side.

Julian tumbled through the air, hitting the arena floor twenty feet below.

WINNER: NYX

High in the Spire, Valerius stood up, his face flushed with a rare, burning anger. "An Aegis Prime... losing to a nobody from the 10th? This is an insult

Reid Gedion Swallow remained silent, though his grip on the armrest of his chair tightened until the wood groaned.

Match 3

Cipher (10th) vs. Temi Nova (5th)

Cipher entered the ring with his tactical visor glowing. He was already calculating trajectories, his drones hovering in a protective formation.

Across from him, Temi Nova stood calmly. She didn't look like a fighter; she looked like a dancer. As the match started, Cipher launched a barrage of stun-pellets. Temi didn't dodge. She simply raised her hands, and the moisture in the air condensed into a thick, swirling sphere of water.

The pellets hit the water and lost all momentum, sinking harmlessly to the bottom.

"She's a Master Class," Kross from the 9th Division observed. "Cipher's tech relies on projectile physics. You can't shoot through a fluid that absorbs kinetic energy."

Cipher tried to deploy a high-frequency pulse, but Temi swept her arms in a wide arc. A massive tidal wave rose from the arena's floor-drains, crashing over the Reign. It wasn't a violent strike, but a relentless one. The water caught Cipher's drones, short-circuiting them instantly.

Cipher found himself caught in a whirlpool. He tried to anchor himself with his mag-boots, but Temi's control was too precise. She increased the pressure, literally washing him off his feet. With a graceful flick of her wrist, she directed the current to carry Cipher over the edge of the Reign.

He landed in a heap on the lower floor, soaking wet and his equipment sparking.

WINNER: TEMI NOVA )

"Good effort, Cipher," temi said walking of the reign

The Postponement

The announcer's voice echoed: "Next Match: Kaelen of the 10th Division vs. Valerius of the 1st Division!"

The crowd erupted. This was the match everyone wanted to see—the "Flare Fire" clash. Valerius stepped onto the Reign, his body already radiating a shimmering heat. He looked toward the 10th Division entrance, waiting for the boy he considered a stain on his family's legacy.

Five minutes passed. Then ten.

"Where is he?" Sloane asked, looking around the staging area. "Kaelen was right here a moment ago."

Elias stood up, his eyes scanning the corridors. Kaelen's scent was gone. Even the lingering heat he usually gave off had vanished from the room.

Up in the Spire, the Captains leaned forward. Lenny d mic of the 7th frowned. "A no-show? That doesn't seem like the 10th."

"Valerius, stay in the ring," Reid commanded through the comms.

"I am here, Captain! But where is the coward?" Valerius shouted, flames licking his shoulders.

After another five minutes, Shadow, Captain of the 9th, stood up. "We cannot halt the entire tournament for one missing boy. The schedule must hold."

The Head Judge stepped forward. "Due to the unexplained absence of the contestant Kaelen, the match between Kaelen and Valerius is hereby postponed to the end of the round. We will proceed with the remaining matches.

"

As the matches continue Elias and the 10th went to look for kealen
