Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 – The Weight of Shadows (1887)

A year had passed, and Jonathan's understanding of his enemy had deepened. He trained not only his body but his mind, running simulations in his head of every possible confrontation. Hamon control had become second nature, the flow of energy in his body like the current of a river—steady, powerful, and capable of both subtlety and overwhelming force.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, a letter arrived sealed with black wax. The handwriting was angular, elegant, and undeniably mocking.

"The heir of Jorwick… do you believe you can outrun fate?"

Jonathan felt a cold determination settle over him. The enemy had not been idle—they were studying him, learning his patterns, probing his weaknesses. He could not afford to underestimate them again.

By nightfall, he patrolled the outskirts of Windgrave, sword at his side. A sudden rustling in the trees alerted him. Two figures, cloaked in darkness, moved with silent precision. The battle erupted without warning. Jonathan's sword glowed as he unleashed a series of Hamon strikes, the energy cutting through the night air. The enemy moved with equal skill, striking back with a combination of brute force and cunning that made Jonathan realize how far he had yet to go.

The clash ended with both sides withdrawing, leaving only scorched earth and a sense of foreboding. Jonathan knew that the enemy was preparing for something larger, something that would test not only his skill but the limits of his resolve.
