Chapter 142 - Chapter 142 Event Gameplay

After a cutscene, the player can control the character to walk into Fengdeng Lou.

Little Gui switched to Jun Bai and shouted: "The Boss is here to inspect work—come greet him at once."

After the loading bar finished, the character entered Fengdeng Lou. As long as you talk to Ning Yao at the front desk, you can proceed to the next step of the quest.

But before that, Little Gui decided to first take her newly pulled Jun Bai on a proper tour around Fengdeng Lou.

This is all territory I conquered.

Then, everyone noticed a small detail:

When the NPCs in Fengdeng Lou see Jun Bai, they will proactively come over and say "Marshal, good day."

[This detail—miHoYo stole my RAM again.]

[The titles are Marshal and Boss—clearly all these workers were transferred from Guili Assembly.]

[Little Gui, try switching to other characters.]

Little Gui, being fan-friendly, complied with the viewers' request and started switching characters, swaggering around inside Fengdeng Lou so the viewers could see the NPCs' different reactions.

Next, everyone discovered that the NPCs in Fengdeng Lou only proactively come to greet when it's the protagonist or Jun Bai.

Even when walking past with Ningguang, the NPCs remain calm—only when you initiate dialogue is there a difference in address.

Other characters are called "Guest," while Ningguang is called "Tianquan-sama." Aside from that, no other differences.

"Reasonable. After all, one is the temporary manager, the other is the Boss—workers being more polite is normal." Little Gui commented.

[So is it that Tianquan Star isn't prominent enough?]

[Reasonable—before reclaiming power, the Liyue Seven Stars were just seven merchants.]

[I think the more reasonable explanation is that other characters are here to eat, but we and Jun Bai are here to inspect work—so the attitudes differ so much.]

"Inspection complete—time to start working!"

Little Gui went along with the plot, switched back to the protagonist, and began dialogue with Ning Yao.

Ning Yao: "Manager, hello. Next, I will explain your work to you."

"The staff currently working at Fengdeng Lou are all temporarily transferred from Guili Assembly, but relying on just these people, it's hard to complete a full day's work."

"So your primary task is to recruit personnel for Fengdeng Lou and assign them to suitable positions."

A page appeared showing various attributes and information for some NPCs.

Below were four characters: "One-Click Recruit." Of course, you could also recruit them one by one if you wanted.

[As expected of a grand restaurant—others carefully select, but we just take them all.]

[Management mini-game? Kind of can't imagine what the permanent gameplay will be like.]

The NPCs' attributes are divided into three categories: Delivery, Cooking, Logistics. Each attribute is directly shown as star levels indicating proficiency.

Of course, Little Gui herself had zero interest in paying attention to these stats. After letting the livestream viewers take a look, she directly hit "One-Click Recruit."

Recruitment complete—proceed to the next explanation.

"Mr. Yunxuan has superior delivery ability—please assign him to the main hall for delivery work."

A floor plan of the interior of Fengdeng Lou appeared on screen, with avatars of the NPCs Little Gui had recruited next to it.

Following the guide, Little Gui assigned the NPC named Yunxuan to the customer-greeting section.

The originally gray section turned green after Little Gui placed the NPC, and a ① symbol appeared in the upper right corner.

[Looks like each section has a limited number of people that can be assigned—otherwise no need to display it specifically.]

[Reasonable—otherwise, believe me, someone would put 20 NPCs in the delivery section.]

[Firefly: Seems like someone reported my ID here—dropping an anchor to check the situation.]

[I was talking about Stelle.]

After understanding the specific operations, the next task was to assign all the just-recruited NPCs to suitable positions.

Little Gui, who one-click recruited all NPCs: "…"

"I wish after one-click recruit there was also one-click placement for NPCs." Little Gui daydreamed.

But cruel reality was that she had to check each NPC's attributes one by one, then place them one by one.

She had tried random placement before. But after assigning all NPCs, Ning Yao would come over for a round of inspection. She adds up the star totals of effective attributes in each section—the total stars must reach a certain amount to pass.

Because it was random, Little Gui got eliminated in the first inspection round and had to start over.

Ultimately, only after voice-chatting with Silver Wolf did Little Gui successfully place all the NPCs and proceed to the next step of the quest.

[Already looking forward to Li Big Pillow's reaction when he reaches this step.]

[It doesn't look hard, but Little Gui couldn't pass—is her IQ dropping linearly from playing too long with Li Big Pillow?]

[Little Gui isn't dumb to begin with, but she can't calm down and focus—so this part is a bit hard for her.]

Ning Yao: "Sufficient personnel have now been assigned. Next, before opening the store, please use appropriate marketing strategies to promote our Fengdeng Lou."

Three marketing plans appeared on screen for the player to choose freely.

Ning Yao: "Different plans have different effects—please choose carefully, Manager."

Little Gui breathed a sigh of relief: "Good thing it's not making us come up with strategies ourselves—otherwise I'd get stuck even on an event."

[I feel the same as Little Gui.]

[Little Gui: Already embarrassing enough stuck on Floor 12 of the Abyss—if I get stuck here in the event too, I can't play anymore.]

Looking at the three options on screen, Little Gui, afflicted with choice paralysis, used a die to solve her problem.

After selecting the marketing plan, you also need to choose an executor—but currently the only available option is the protagonist.

According to Silver Wolf's speculation, as the event progresses, characters with bonus effects for executing marketing strategies will appear.

Ning Yao: "Everything is ready, Manager. You may begin business."

"Just this? Feels a bit boring." Little Gui frowned, then chose to start business.

A loading animation appeared. After it ended, a prompt showed:

[Midday business hours ended. Closed for the day.]

Outside time had already reached evening.

The quest prompt told Little Gui to start the evening business hours. Little Gui did so, then entered a cutscene.

Ning Yao: "Manager, there is a guest who specifically requested a second-floor private room. Please personally receive them—this is also part of your work."

Little Gui immediately sat up straight.

Because she still remembered a bit from the preview livestream: receiving VIPs can increase character trust levels, then invite the character to the party.

But unfortunately, to everyone's disappointment, the arriving person was not a playable character—it was that NPC who runs a stone-gambling shop, named Shi Tou (Stone).

[Didn't you say VIP reception? This counts as a VIP?]

[Seems like he does—after all, Stone seems quite rich, at least richer than the people on the first floor.]

Although not the playable character everyone was longing for, Little Gui still received him.

The VIP reception gameplay was actually somewhat interesting: the VIP makes requests, then the player selects corresponding recipes based on the requirements.

After selecting the recipe, a scene appears of the protagonist cooking in the kitchen.

Unlike past cooking where you just throw all ingredients into the pot to stew chaotically and mysteriously end up with a dish.

This cooking is subdivided into various steps.

In each step, the player must time it precisely. After a series of processes, plating is done according to the requirements.

[The episode cooking-loving players love the most.]

[Who gets it—I usually love playing these food-shop management mini-games; I never get tired of them.]

Under the quest guidance, Little Gui's first VIP reception was successfully completed, earning Boss Stone's perfect evaluation.

The reward for a perfect evaluation was 80,000 Mora from Stone, five Hero's Wit books, and 20 Primogems.

The above are the three basic gameplay modes of the "Prosperous Fengdeng Road" event.
